New Red Panda Exhibit
Above is the architect’ s conception of a new home for the red panda that arrived at
the Zoo on June 23. It features a small bamboo forest of its own.
Red pandas live in mountainous areas of Asia. They are specially adapted for eating
bamboo leaves, and need to consume large amounts to get the energy needed for
survival. Sometimes they supplement their diet with fruit, mushrooms, bird eggs and
small animals such as mice.

Spiny Lizard
Its scientific name, Uromastyx, is what this
lizard is commonly called in the pet trade.
Firefish Goby
These little “ dartfish” have a “ bolthole” in
which they take cover when feeling
threatened.
Turkey Vulture
Vultures have a bad rap as being ugly.
They are surprisingly graceful in flight
and do a great job cleaning up the
environment.
