Lake hours will be extended once the ice is ready for skating. Arbour Lake Seniors Group: Seniors come and enjoy a coffee, play games, and socialize with other residents, they meet Tuesdays from 1:00-3:00PM in the Arbour Lake Residents Hall and always enjoy themselves. AT THE LAKE Lake Fees Your invoice for your annual lake fee should be arriving in the next few weeks, if it has not already arrived. Please be advised that this fee is mandatory for all Arbour Lake households and you cannot opt out of paying it. If your fees are left unpaid, interest will start accumulating on the overdue balance as of February 1 at a rate of 18% per annum, it is compounded monthly so be sure to get your payment in before January 31st to avoid late fees. Fees can be paid at the lake office by cheque or debit or through your online banking. **Payment made by VISA or MASTERCARD is subject to a 3.5% Convenience Fee** Ice at the Lake The lake typically opens for skating in mid to late December. Until then, KEEP OFF the ice! It can be very dangerous and you are at great risk of falling through if the surface is not thick enough. The ice depth needs to be a minimum of 10” thick for us to open our skating rinks, which will only be on natural ice. The ice depth needs to be 15” thick for the Olympia ice resurfacer. Please DO NOT throw rocks or any other items onto the ice surface. Not only can the rocks damage the Olympia, but they also can create holes in the ice when the sun is out, making the surface extremely unsafe. If rinks are unsafe, that means no skating. PROGRAMS Parents & Tots Group: It’s a time to get the kids out of the house to play with other children from Arbour Lake while parents visit amongst each other in the Arbour Lake Residents Hall. There is lots of toys and games for infants to preschool aged children to enjoy while parents enjoy a coffee and meet some new friends. They meet Tuesdays 9:30-11:00am in the Arbour Lake Residents Hall. There is always tons noise with toys and laughs when they are there. Arbour Lake Book Club: This group meets on the first Monday of each month in the Arbour Lake Hall from 1:00-2:30pm. They chat about books and compare and is a positive program. Arbour Lake Adult Choir: The Choir join on Tuesday evenings from 8:00-9:00pm in the Arbour Lake Hall. They have come and sang at our light the night and it is always excellent entertainment. We know how important it is for Calgarians to get to where they want to go safely and that is why The City of Calgary Transportation Department has a plan to ensure our streets are made safe as soon as possible after a snow storm. If you have any snow removal challenges in your neighbourhood, please contact 311. Looking back on 2015, we together as a community have made a lot of progress on making Ward 2 more accessible and safer. This includes projects like the many crosswalk enhancements throughout our communities, signal enhancements at Crowfoot Centre and the opening of Sarcee Trail NW to 144th Avenue NW. Going forward into the new year I will continue to value your input on the priorities of Ward 2. This holiday season let us take time out of our busy schedule to assist those of us who are less fortunate in our communities. Whether that is helping out a neighbour, giving food to a food bank or donating to one of the many charities in our city, let’s continue to demonstrate why Calgary is the best place in the world to live.
