THE SPIRIT Winter Office: P.O. Box 219, Moscow, Pennsylvania 18444 (570) 842-3739 September, 2013 Lake Greeley Camp We had a great summer! Our only disappointment is that it went by much too quickly. Since camp ended, we relive the Summer of 2013 each day by remembering the wonderful experiences we shared. It was a special time and Lake Greeley is a special place. Even though we keep thinking about this summer, our attention has already turned to the next. The dates for 2014 have already been set and the program calendar is starting to take shape. At camp, equipment is being stored as our maintenance staff begin to prepare the for winter season. This off-season will prove to be busy once again as a lengthy worklist of improvements and renovations is being finalized. To keep up with all the latest of happenings at camp, be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter. INSIDE THIS EDITION • September Birthdays • Do You Remember Thank you for making our summer such an amazing experience that we can’t find the words to adequately describe it: great, super, fantastic, extraordinary, phenomenal, unbelieveable... 2014 • 2014 Camp Schedule • 2013 Summer Picture Collage CAMP SCHEDULE • Important Dates • Parent Questionnaires Do You Remember... ...all the crazy, fun things we did this summer? There were a lot. Here are a few: Standing at the main entrance to camp shouting at the top of your lungs welcoming arriving campers to camp...the tug-ofwar competition during the Olympics...walking into the Dining Hall and being greeted by James, the voice of Lake Greeley Camp, saying, “At this time, please remove your hats and stand for a moment of silence...”...Game Show Night...Harry Potter Day...Hungry Games dodgeball on the upper football field...receiving a care package from home...fourth of July: the picnic, the inflatables and dunk tank, the Uncle Samathon, and the fireworks display, what a great day...wakeboarding, water skiing, and tubing on Lake Wallenpaupack with Greg... This decision was made because opening on a weekend would have resulted in either opening too early before many schools in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania were closed for the summer or opening too late and jeopardizing the availability of staff members at the end of the summer due to schooling or fulltime employment obligations. By starting camp on June 27th we were able to accommodate the school schedule for many families, however, it did create difficulties with camp sessions starting and ending on weekdays. This summer we will be returning to a 54-day season. Camp will open on Sunday, June 29th. With the exception of the last day of camp, each camp session will begin and end on a weekend. Please take notice of the length of each camp session as they do differ, for instance, the first half session is 28 days in length, while the second half session is 26 days. In order to have sessions begin and end on a weekend, these differences in length of session were necessary. Other dates of interest, camp ends on Thursday, August 21st and the dates of our two Visiting Days are: • Saturday, July 19, 2014 • Saturday, August 9, 2014 Mark your calendar now. We already can’t wait to see you on Sunday, June 29th. HAPPY BIRTHDAY... to our campers and staff who celebrate a birthday in the month of September!
