Hopefully we will soon be able to update the website ourselves, or rather Heather will, so we can put things up as they are confirmed. The good news is that thanks to your support we were successful in gaining a £300K grant to upgrade and refurbish the Centre. Also the Royal Mail has finally acknowledged that the postage surcharge fiasco last year was its fault and have made a token donation of £750. So please keep supporting events and films - then when our new seating arrives you will really notice how comfortable they are. In A Three With music by composer Graham Fitkin, three women weave through athletic groupings that are sassy and bold, embracing the music in its totality. The design of both the movement and the décor is heavily inspired by the paintings of Italian artist Roberto Pelilli Confessions Sharing secrets, the innermost depths of our souls are exposed in this delightful piece of theatre. Accompanied by music from Tom Waits, this piece is animated and passionate, drawing you in to a web of complex humanity Ffin Dance will be choreographing a brand new piece of work for the dancers of the Barton Dance and Drama Academy, which will be performed this evening. Before the show, Sue Lewis will speak about the choreography in a pre-performance talk at 7 pm in the restaurant. She won the Irish National Women's Poetry Competition in 1997, and was subsequently shortlisted for the Patrick Kavanagh Prize and Hennessy Literature Awards. She will give a workshop in the morning session, followed after lunch by a performance with Dermot McLaughlin who is well known as a traditional Irish fiddler. This delectable comedy is beautifully staged with traditional 18th-century costume, and a superb score is skilfully performed in English by some of the finest singers and orchestral players in the country. The Barber of Seville is a vivacious, sparkling satire, packed full of dramatic and musical wit, making for a rollicking evening’s entertainment, and a feast for the eyes and ears. Cantori is an auditioned, mixed 36 strong ensemble and will be performimg a wide selection of choral literature, both sacred and secular, including some spirituals, Jazz and Broadway selections. Ron Miller is Assistant Professor of Music, and serves as the college’s Director of Vocal Music Activities. He has recently been elected to Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers. He has been widely published including a selection of poems, Call Centre Love Song, (shortlisted for the prestigious Forward Prize), and a novel, Not Tonight Neil, along with numerous reviews and critical books the latest being The New Poetry In Wales . Since 1977 he taught in the English department at the Bangor University where he is now Professor. During the period there will be a range of workshops for children, appearances by sports stars, Olympic related events and films. The Centre's usual Art for All Competition will be incorporated into the exhibition but with a theme related to the Olympics. An exhibition which should appeal to people of all ages.
