In My Life

Into The Woods
Imagine, a musical story tale with death, unhappiness and, who
would have thunk, it reality added into the mix. Well stop dreaming
and come see the reality of Into The Woods.
Into The Woods is a story of a young girl (Cinderella), a poor boy
(Jack) and his mother, and a Baker with his wife. In this show the
first act is the stories as we hear in the fairy tales.
Cinderella is the sad young girl whose mother has died and whose
father (whom I personally play) has remarried to a beautiful yet
black-hearted wife with two daughters of her own that treat Cinderella as a servant girl. She wants to go to the ball and the festival.
She asks her mother’s grave and, boom, a nice dress and some
gold pumps for her. And she wins the heart of Prince Charming.
Jack and his cow (Milky White) and his mother are poor and hungry.
They must sell their cow, but we know the story, Jack sells for beans
and mommy dearest throws ‘em away. A beanstalk grows and gives
Jack the opportunity to steal gold, the hen that lays the golden eggs
and the singing harp from the giant.
Now the baker not many have heard about. He is the brother of
Repunzel, who is locked in a tower by an evil witch. The witch lives
next door to the baker. It is revealed that the reason why the Baker
and his wife cannot have a child is due to a spell the witch laid on
them because his dead (or so he thinks) sister stole some things
from her. So the witch says “Go into the woods and fetch me these:
one, a cow as white as milk; two, a cape as red as blood; three, hair
as yellow as corn; and four, the slipper as pure as gold.”

Now the cast doesn’t end there,
it’s full of many fairy tale characters like Little Red Riding Hood,
Snow White, Sleeping Beauty
and many more. It’s a fun musical in which you see that if you
get your wish there are always
consequences, which happen in
act 2. I won’t divulge the consequences but you are sure to
enjoy and shed a tear.

The 20th of this month is our spring equinox,
which brings us a time of renewal. With Mercury going retrograde the day before, it’s a
good time to open those windows and air your
dirty laundry. The new moon on the 10th will
start the feeling of change. You may not know

Aries March 22- April 21 Feel like taking a vacation? Well, this is not the month to do it. Public

Taurus April 22- May 21 The key phrase for you
this month is “don’t sweat the small stuff. Go with
the flow as a lot of little disturbances are coming
your way. In the long term they are unimportant so
your focus should be on the bigger picture now.
You’ll find greater opportunities for your long-term
goals now as long as you’re not playing with those

middle of the month something will reawaken the
emotions in you to alter the direction of your love
life. It’s not the time to take action, but to enlighten
you as to what you truly want.
Scorpio October 22- November 21 You are now
able to stop thinking and start taking action on
those thoughts. They have been pent-up for a
long time so be careful not to release them too
forcefully. The professional changes you are making this month are a good thing. Don’t secondguess your work.
Gemini May 22- June 21 Singles get ready to
have some fun. It’s a good time to get out and
find that mate. You’re in the spotlight. If you are
involved, it’s a good time to turn on your charm;
you’ll find it will go twice as far. After the 20th your
focus will return to work. Go the extra mile; correct others mistakes without recognition, and it
will pay off in the future.
Sagittarius November 22- December 21 Slow
and steady wins the race for you. You’ll feel like
you need a change in your career, but this is
not the time to make that change. Examine your
options and look at the flaws. Only then will you
be able to make the right choice. Mates of Sagittarians be patient. Their restlessness will calm
down.
Cancer June 22- July 21 The first half of the
month your focus is on work. Do what you feel
is right, not merely what is expected out of you.
Eventually you will reap the rewards. Saturn in
your sign finally goes direct on the 21st, which
means the feeling of repression you have been
under the last few months is being released. Take
charge now, especially in your love life.
Capricorn December 22- January 21 The perfectionist is coming out in you. Don’t drive yourself crazy. Relax! It’s fine. Focus on interesting
ways to make money, but use restraint in acting
upon them. When it comes to your relationships,
remember that patience, understanding and tenderness go a long way.
Leo July 22- August 21 Worrying about your finances? Well, don’t. Your focus will be on your financial state. It’s good to be aware of where your
money is going this month. If you look at your

Pisces February 22- March 21 Happy solar return! It’s a good time to enjoy the dream. If you are

the Hearts of Love Benefit thrown by Kelli Randell and Club Bλrd
Cage. Of course we cannot forget the generous patrons who tipped
liberally and bid top dollar for the auctioned items. Special mention to
Mikey the Club Bλrd Cage bartender who won the 50-50 and donated
his winnings (over $240) to the event — without even a gentle prod from
Kelli! Kudos to everyone: Kelli Randell for making it happen, Club
Bλrd Cage not only for hosting, but for having such a wonderful giving
staff, and of course the attendees for being there. There was one sad
note: Princess, bartender Patti, has left Club Bλrd Cage to pursue a
truck-driving career (I don’t need to say one more word, as you all are
thinking the next line all by yourselves). I’m sure she’ll be a success Goodbye Patti, we look
and I know we all wish her well and look forward to seeing her smiling forward to seing you on
our side of the bar!

to the Mr Gay USA Male Impersonators Pageant. As you all know it costs a great deal to attend
the big contests so Club Bλrd Cage has a big show with seven Kings and three Queens for
you with the $5 door charge going to Gage. Sounds like more than a full house to me! I hear
that Beverly McClellan singing live on Sunday afternoons in the Tiki bar followed by Janet with
karaoke inside is providing a full house on Sundays. Oh, and I also know that the next family
day will be March 20. You may have noticed some new faces
behind the bar — but if you haven’t stop in to meet Mary (with
tits­) working Monday happy hour and Wednesday nights plus
J.T. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Speaking of new faces, there’s one behind the bar at The Cold
Keg, Shawn. Stop in and check him out Saturday and Sunday
days. With Fireball a great success we’re all looking forward
to Mardi Gras Party on the 5th as well as The Cold Keg’s
legendary Studio 54 party coming our way soon with the first
lady of Melbourne, Roz Russell!
Speaking of Roz, as well as the upcoming Cold Keg date, Cori (L) with new bartender
she was at Bliss a few weeks ago and will be appearing at Shawn at the Cold Keg
CHARLOTTE’S WEB (the date wasn’t final by press time). I didn’t know it, by Charlotte of
CHARLOTTE’S WEB used to play a fair amount of pool and darts before her leg started acting
up so that explains why the bar is set up so you can actually play pool and darts! With the dance
floor and show on the other side of the bar it’s a great place to hang out. If you haven’t been
in to check the place out, put it on your schedule right now. It’s a great fun place for everyone
– and you can ask anyone who remembers Blondies if Charlotte knows how to throw a good
time! The Charlotte’s Web bar staff is Barbara, the singing bartender, Mark, Mat and Gretchen
(formerly of the Drama Club) so now you know someone there and can go say hi.
If you know someone who could use some help around the house in south or central Brevard,
check out Teddy Bear Cleaning in the Business Place ads. They’re a wonderful crew and do a
fantastic job. Imagine having a cleaning service come in without you worrying about “straightening up” the place before they arrive!
Up at the Rainbow Room they’ve still got the box dancers, incredible shows and lots more
planned. Incidentally, remember when I first talked about The Rainbow Room? I said, and

I quote, “Now it’s true that the current location is temporary, but that’s part of the plan: two
openings for one bar!” Issue 26, page 8, line 17. Hello? Hello? Is this thing on? Hello? The
Rainbow Room is moving just like they said they would when they opened so what’s all the
hubbub about? Stay tuned for details as they haven’t tied up the loose ends yet, but I promise
you’ll have a new Rainbow Room to go to around May-ish.
Go to REBAR for something I’ve not seen around here before: all the art on the walls is for sale
– check out their pictures on page 18 and you can see some in the background (and no the
dancers were from Miami and aren’t part of the art sale). REBAR intends to continue decorating
their walls with art for sale from local artists, so if you are a local artist, or know one, get your ass
into REBAR and corner Jim or Jerry to arrange your turn on the… walls. The current artist is r.j.
lebeau and there will be a “showing” tomorrow (Friday, February 25) at 7 pm with wine and hors
d’oeuvres. The pieces will be priced at that time and I hear you will be pleasantly surprised at the
prices and impressed at the number of pieces already sold and new works being unveiled.
Bliss is unveiling an amateur talent contest with cash prizes, giving all of you a place to go and
try to earn a little cash every Sunday for doing whatever it is that you do so well (um, in public
I mean – er, on second thought knowing some of you… well anyway you know what I mean).
Also Elton is having Kelli Randell back on Sunday, March 6 at Bliss at Bombay Louie’s, Vero’s
very own special place on Sundays.
And something really special is the Project Response fundraiser at Club Med. It’s one of those
murder mystery dinners. Tickets are $45 per person or $80 per couple. It’s next Friday, March

Gay Rights tidbit: November, 2006 voters will decide if the Florida Constitution will enshrine antigay bias. If you think it doesn’t matter, what makes you think they will stop at just one restriction

Spiritually
Speaking
Recently, my partner Mike and I
had a new addition to our family.
Last October we had lost our
fifteen year old Yorkie. We were
waiting to add a new pet in our
home until we found the right one.
After looking for several weeks,
one Saturday we were at the
Humane Society in Cocoa.
came back positive? Having just
lost one pet who had been with
us since the beginning of our
relationship, we did not want to
become attached to another one
if we would lose him quickly. We
didn’t believe that anything could
be wrong. Everything seemed so
right.
Sitting in one of the pens was a
beautiful Bassett and Brittany
Spaniel mix. He was the only dog
in the building that wasn’t barking.
He looked up at us with the biggest
eyes I have seen on a dog, and it
was love at first sight.
With tears in her eyes, the staff
member at the Humane Society
broke the news to us that Roscoe
had tested positive. They don’t
have the funds to treat animals for
heartworms. Unless we wanted
to take the risk and pay for his
treatment, he would be taken
care of quietly and gently. If we
wanted him, no guarantees would
be given.
We took him outside to play and
see if we might be compatible.
We knew then that Roscoe was
the one for us. With excitement,
we approached the desk and
started the paperwork to adopt
this wonderful dog. Everyone
in the building was commenting
on how beautiful and friendly he
was.
We were told that everything was
fine, except Roscoe would need
a heartworm test before we could
adopt him. As we were waiting, a
few questions come to our minds,
like what would we do if the test

We decided to take him anyway.
The vet told us they had a 95%
percent cure rate, but that one
never knows. Fortunately, at this
writing, Roscoe is reacting well to
his treatment. By the end of March,
after a couple more treatments,
he will be tested again. If he is
negative at that time, we can
finalize the adoption.
How many times do not allow
ourselves to love because of the
fear of losing? Is there someone
you have not allowed yourself
to grow close to because of a
positive diagnosis or an addiction
or fear?
The Bible teaches that true love
drives away fear. It is not easy
to take a risk. It is not easy to
reach out and love in an uncertain
situation. But as Mike and I have
found with Roscoe, even though
he tests positive, he still has a
heart full of love. Don’t let fear
keep you away from that special
friendship.
