RESIDENT APP residentmagazine.com.au 83 RESIDENTBEAUTIFUL HOMES RESIDENTBEAUTIFUL HOMES the curvature of the barramundi-tail-inspired roof is the first in a long line of signature vantage design elements. This is John and Jan’s third project with Vantage Homes. With two homes and a major renovation already chalked up, the couple are under no illusions as to why the two parties have collaborated yet again. “Tom, Gary, Andy, Kate and the entire Vantage team are extremely professional and easy to deal with”, Jan said. “We are very happy with their level of workmanship, attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines and the after-sales service has been more than we could have asked for. This project in particular had to go back to the drawing board a few times but the entire process went smoothly. They were as keen as we were to get the end result we wanted.” With a design brief underpinned by clean lines, functionality and easy maintenance, the inclusion of a ‘room to move’ clause came as no surprise. ”Coming from Bees Creek into a built-up suburb like Durack, having enough space and privacy was a huge consideration, but the Vantage team have got the utmost out of the block with the house backing onto the golf course and a park adjacent.” The curvature of the barramundi-tail-inspired roof is the first in a long line of signature Vantage design elements. Consisting of three bedrooms and two bathrooms, the property also boasts a sewing room, golf buggy room, and an impressive outdoor area which leverages from its tranquil bush surrounds. Oversized 600 x 600mm tiles are in flawless play with the cream walls and down-lighting to create a clean and gleaming ambience throughout. The lounge room features a recessed feature wall which accommodates all entertainment amenities and provides a theatrical feel to the room. The extensive use of louvred windows creates airiness and promotes the flow of cross breezes. The kitchen is another of the home’s stand alone features. The red splashback offers a vibrant contrast to the spacious and more neutral tones of the cabinets and drawers provided by Custom Cabinets. Also sporting gas cooktops, concealed range hood, integrated oven and microwave, Hansa Stone benchtops provided by C & A Granite & Marble Works and walk-in pantry, the kitchen is a functional yet striking creation. 84 residentmagazine.com.au RESIDENT APP The dining room features a built-in china cabinet, which also houses another very important item – the 2007 Darwin Cup as part of the syndicate in overall winner Shout Out Loud. John and Jan both keep very fond memories of the day and still entertain hopes of one day returning to the winner’s circle. “That was by far and away the highlight of the year. Whenever we have company the topic of the Cup always comes up and we always enjoy telling the story.” The master bedroom, with picturesque views of the adjoining golf course, is another very innovative space. Screens and bi-fold doors throughout the house enable it to exist as a number of separate rooms or as one larger conglomerate. In this instance the master bedroom opens up onto the masterfully designed undercover verandah. Itself featuring a 600 x 600mm tile, the space gives way to a dedicated outdoor food preparation and cooking facility, and a contemporary styled pool area with glass frontage. John and Jan’s respective ‘favourite rooms’ differ largely in size and function. For Jan it is her dedicated sewing space with mobile work station, whilst for John it’s the golf buggy room. Separate from the garage, the buggy conveniently backs out onto the golf course giving John more time to hit the links. “The build process and finished product ticked all of our boxes and if we were ever to have another property built you can rest assured it’d be with Vantage Homes”, Jan finishes with. The property recently won Custom Built Home in the $750,000 to $1,000,000 category as well as receiving two Highly Commended Awards for Kitchen Design over $21,000 and Bathroom Design over $21,000 at the Master Builders NT awards. Vantage Homes, Ph: 08 8932 7076 www.vantagehomes.com.au this gorgeous durack home overlooks the golf course and comes with a mini drive-in garage for the golf buggy and a huge outdoor living area overlooking the course.
