Two Ferrari 458 Speciale Apertas Starts Up!
As the last ever naturally-aspirated V8 powered Ferrari, the Ferrari 458 Speciale A (Aperta) is pinned to become a true
collector’s car in the future. With that in mind, it is little surprise why two stunning examples were recently being shown off
in Monte Carlo with their evidently wealthy owners behind the wheels!
As the following video shows, one of the 458 Speciale A’s featured is finished in grey while the other is bright yellow.
Despite the dramatically different paint schemes, both are truly exceptional examples of Ferrari’s most hardcore drop-top.
As a reminder, the Ferrari 458 Speciale A features the most powerful naturally-aspirated road-going V8 engine ever built
by the Italian marque. The engine, which is the last naturally-aspirated engine that Ferrari is building, produces a colossal
597 hp and 540 Nm of torque at 6000 rpm.
All this power means the Speciale A sprints from 0-100 km/h in just 3.0 seconds, the same as the Speciale Coupe, and
has a Fiorano lap time of 1 minute 23 seconds, again identical to the Coupe. The Speciale A is also the most
aerodynamically efficient topless Ferrari ever made and it sure looks fantastic with the two beautifully crafted buttresses
behind the occupant’s heads.

Manual Ferrari 599 GTB Sells for Crazy $682,000
At the RM Sotheby’s Amelia Island 2015 auctions, over $60 million worth of cars were sold. One of the most incredible was
an exceptionally rare Ferrari 599 GTB with a six-speed manual transmission with it changing hands for a record $682,000.
That final price far exceeded pre-auction estimates which suggested the manual 599 GTB would sell for between $200,000
and $275,000. On reflection however, it is apparent that those estimates were quite pessimistic.
It is believed that just 20 examples of the Ferrari 599 GTB arrived in the United States with manual transmissions with the
rest fitted with the semi-automatic paddle-shift gearbox. Alongside being fitted with a six-speed (a gated six-speed no
less!), this 599 GTB has less than 3800 miles on the clock when it crossed the auction block and is a 2007 example.
Additionally, it includes optional features like Scuderia Ferrari fender shields, 20-inch Challenge wheels with carbon
ceramic discs also featured. It also includes red brake calipers, an advanced Bose surround sound system and has spent
most of its life in a climate-controlled collection. Complete with its black-on-black paint scheme, it seems inevitable that it
will continue to rise in value!

Ferrari 400 Superamerica Leads $60M RM Sotheby's Sale at Amelia Island
Just last month, two of the most venerated auction houses came together under one roof. And this past weekend, the
newly christened RM Sotheby's held its first event at the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance, selling a record $60 million
worth of classic automobiles.
The event's highlight was surely the gorgeous 1960 Ferrari 400 Superamerica SWB Cabriolet pictured above.
Resplendent in dark green over a red leather interior, this particular Superamerica set a record for that model when it sold
for $6.38 million, with proceeds going towards a children's education charity. That price far outstrips the record $4 million
that Gooding & Co. got for that sleek white Aerodinamico coupe in Scottsdale earlier this year.
Among the other seven-figure items were of course some other Ferraris, including a rare '72 Daytona Spider that went for
$3.3 million, along with a smattering of Jaguars, Mercedes, Alfas, Lamborghinis and Bugattis. A rare 2007 Ferrari 599 GTB
Fiorano with a manual transmission sold for nearly triple its estimate at $682,000, and the Daytona-winning, Castrolliveried 1988 Jaguar XJR-9 sold for over $2 million.
Of course RM Sotheby's wasn't the only company holding an auction during the Florida concours. But as the event's
official auction house, it brought in more than all the other participating auctioneers combined, setting a record for Amelia
Island in the process. (Noah Joseph)

Michael Schumacher’s Ferrari F310B Is For Sale
Michael Schumacher may have secured seven world titles but it could so easily have been eight if 1997 had gone to plan.
Now the Ferrari F310B is for sale on here, the car that will be always remember for the controversial collision between
Schumacher and eventual world champion, Jacques Villeneuve in Jerez.
This chassis (chassis number 178 to be precise) is the very one that took Michael Schumacher to the 1997 Japanese
Grand Prix at Suzuka, that meant the German went into the final race of the season just a single point clear of Villeneuve.
Another famous win in this car came in Monaco, where Schumacher showcased his wet weather driving ability to finish a
ridiculous 53 seconds clear of the entire field and well over a minute clear of his own team mate, Eddie Irvine.
It may be one of many race cars for sale, but it’s not every day there’s one for sale that was driven by Formula One’s most
successful racing driver. Just make sure you don’t go Maldonadoing this piece of F1 history, it is a pretty stunning race car
after all and not forgetting the fact that the car is in tip top condition and ready to run.
But if that’s not cool enough, there’s even a Ferrari F1 Motorhome for sale, so if that Ferrari Lego set isn’t good enough
you could have the real thing! These Iveco trucks were used by the team up until the middle of the 2013 Formula One
season and comes with all the original furnishings. Looks roomy!

Jeremy Clarkson Punched Producer, May and Hammond Stopped
Him from Punching Again
Oh dear! Word is that the Irish producer told officials at the disciplinary meeting that Clarkson did land a punch in his
kisser. Top Gear’s Captain Power tried to hit Oisin Tymon a second time, but James May and Richard Hammond
“grabbed him to stop him from going in again,” according to the Mirror.
A source close to the Top Gear team and the aforementioned publication mentioned that the fracas “happened outside
the hotel, with just the four of them there.” After the Hamster and Captain Slow stopped Jezza from aiming a second blow,
May and Hammond “seemed shocked and stayed with Oisin, asking if he was OK, while Clarkson returned to the bar.”
Gosh...
It’s understood that Tymon wants Clarkson to take up some anger management counselling. Then again, the Irish
producer can also report Jeremy’s outburst to the police, then he could press charges for assault if Oisin feels that the
“truth is ‘whitewashed’ during the BBC probe.” Another spicy detail is that Oisin ACTUALLY WENT to the Friarage
Hospital in Northallerton, seeking medical attention “after feeling dizzy.”
As things stand after the first BBC disciplinary meeting, Oisin Tymon’s variant of this whole mishmash is putting Jeremy
Clarkson in the worst situation imaginable. Though his opinion isn’t entirely relevant, ex-Stig Perry McCarthy told Radio
Times that a replacement for Jezza would be similar to “signing up for your own firing squad.” He’s right, you know - it’s
impossible to fill Jeremy Clarkson’s shoes as a Top Gear presenter.
McCarthy added that “the only person who could take it on [Clarkson’s place] would be somebody who has nothing to
lose." Unfortunately for Top Gear’s main man, he lost everything over a mere punch. For crying out loud, Jeremy, if you
would have spat or tripped Oisin over, not punch him, without calling him an Irish-you-know-what, none of this drama
would have happened.

Ferrari Now Focused on Mercedes F1 Team not Williams or Red Bull
Ferrari is now focusing on chasing Formula 1 world champion Mercedes rather than defending against Williams and Red
Bull, following its strong start to 2015 in the Australian Grand Prix.
Sebastian Vettel scored a podium on his Ferrari debut in Melbourne, while Kimi Raikkonen was on course to finish at least
fifth before a problem caused by damage from a cross-threaded wheelnut. The Scuderia was the second best team on
merit in Melbourne, marking an impressive turnaround from last season when it finished behind Red Bull and Williams in
fourth in the constructors' championship.
"Our first target was to look at Williams and Red Bull," said Ferrari team boss Maurizio Arrivabene in Melbourne. "Now we
need to start to be a bit more convinced about ourselves and to reduce the gap with the Mercedes guys."
Ferrari made sweeping management changes last season in which long-time president Luca di Montezemolo and team
boss Marco Mattiacci departed. It then showed consistently good pace across all three pre-season tests.
That form continued through the Australian GP weekend, prompting Arrivabene to suggest Ferrari now needs to aim higher
than 'best of the rest'. "I think we were, since Barcelona [testing] and after Friday and Saturday [in Australia], quite
convinced about what we had in the pocket so we were not really concerned," he said.
"It's a pity that [Williams's Valtteri] Bottas was not there, because it would have given us a clear benchmark, but I think we
need to stop thinking about second.
"We need to start to think and look forward to first." (Lawrence Barretto)

Ferrari Shows How the Promotional Video for the 488 GTB Was Shot
Filming a promotional video for a new car is a logistical challenge these days, especially if we talk about powerhouses like
Ferrari. For the official video of its latest model, the 488 GTB, Ferrari has sent an army of people to Spain.
Shot in late February before the car’s official debut in Geneva, the video features track footage (filmed at the Ricardo
Tormo Circuit in Valencia), as well as drive scenes recorded on the roads and mountains around Saragossa and Tortosa.
If you were wondering how those spectacular shots were taken, the following behind-the-scenes video will show you
exactly that. Getting the perfect image required the use of drones, Russian arms and Go-Pro cameras, among many other
tricks used by the crew.
Scroll down to watch both the making-of video and the promotional video after the virtual jump.

Bloodhound SSC Panel Gets Shot With A 2,000 MPH Projectile
Driven by a former fighter pilot and currently in the final stages of development, the Bloodhound SSC’s goal is to match
or exceed 1,000 mph on the way to breaking the world land speed record. Faster by a whopping 33 percent than its
predecessor, which was coincidentally also driven by Andy Green, the supersonic vehicle will need to pass a number of
rigorous tests before given the go-ahead to attempt the record run.
With driver/pilot safety being a great concern at supersonic speeds, two lightweight composite panels made out of millions
of woven glass fibers have been fitted on each side of the cockpit. The team behind the project recently tested the safety
panels, and the best way to do it was to fire a projectile with 29 Kilojoules of energy at one. Apparently, that is the
equivalent of a cricket ball smashing at the Bloodhound SSC’s side at 2,000 mph. Keep in mind that a cricket ball is
slightly smaller, but much harder and heavier than a baseball.
Looking quite different than the Thrust SSC, which broke the sound barrier back in 1997, the Bloodhound SSC gets its
speed from three power plants. A jet engine from a Eurofighter Typhoon is in charge of taking it to 300 mph, after which a
hybrid rocket will push the model up to its top speed. A Jaguar V-8 engine is used as an auxiliary power unit to drive the
electrical system and the oxidizer pump for the rocket. (Alex Oagana)

MARKET PLACE
RM SOTHEBY'S RAISES THE BAR WITH RECORD-BREAKING $60 MILLION
AMELIA ISLAND SALE
AMELIA ISLAND, Florida (March 15, 2015) – RM Sotheby's, the official auction house of the Amelia Island Concours
d'Elegance, is delighted to announce spectacular results for its 17th annual Amelia Island sale. The auction, which
represented the first RM Sotheby's event since RM Auctions and Sotheby's formed a strategic partnership in February,
achieved total sales of $60,328,550, besting the company's record 2014 Amelia Island performance by 67 percent.
This result represents not only the highest total ever for a sale held during the Amelia Island week, but also exceeds the
combined total of all other auctions this week, reaffirming RM Sotheby's clear market leadership. The incredible 98
percent sell-through rate, which includes 13 individual million-dollar-plus results, is a testament to RM's reputation for
offering best-of-category automobiles.
Taking top sale honors of the day and of the entire Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance week was the 1960 Ferrari 400
Superamerica SWB Cabriolet, chassis no. 1945 SA, achieving a very strong $6,380,000 to comfortably set a new world
record for the model at auction. Significantly, proceeds from car's sale will benefit the consignor's charity for the education
of children.
"We were thrilled to present as significant a car as the 400 Superamerica here at Amelia Island", said Gord Duff, Car
Specialist, RM Sotheby's. "Both the importance of the car and the success of RM Sotheby's international team in uniting
collectors with the world's finest automobiles is reflected in its result. The outstanding sale total is a sign of the everexpanding market for blue-chip collector cars, with bidders hailing from no fewer than 22 countries, of which 22 percent
were new to RM Sotheby's."
Providing further proof of Ferrari's domination at the top of the market, additional lots garnering strong prices included the
genuine 1972 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Spider, realizing $3,300,000; a 1972 Ferrari 365 GTC/4, bringing a record
$495,000, and the time warp 1971 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Berlinetta, dubbed "the Condo Find", achieving a fantastic
$770,000.

March 20, 2015
Some of the most electric moments of the auction were brought about by the record sales of late model and emerging
collectibles. Notable highlights included the exceedingly rare, six-speed manual 2007 Ferrari 599 GTB, which nearly
tripled its pre-sale estimate at $682,000, smashing the previous auction record for the model. A pair of Ferrari 512 models
also exceeded expectations, with the 1995 F512 M selling for $462,000 and the1980 512 BB garnering $418,000.
Ferrari wasn't the only high performing marque of the sale, with prices for fantastic Porsche 911s continuing to rise.
Amongst numerous examples, a 1973 911 Carrera RS 2.7 Touring sold for $891,000, a 1988 911 Turbo 'Slant Nose'
Cabriolet for $363,000, and a 1979 911 Turbo brought $253,000. Japanese collectibles also continue to make waves in
the collector car market, with the much-talked-about 1970 Nissan Fairlady Z 432 surpassing its estimate to bring a recordbreaking $253,000.
Demonstrating the diversity of the offering and RM Sotheby's expertise across all segments of the market, additional top
lots included elegant coachbuilt classics, racing greats of both the Pre-war and modern periods, and highly desirable sports
cars of the 1950s, 60s, and 70s.

Dom’Up Treehouse
The first look at Dom’Up is probably going to remind you of Swiss Family Robinson or Ewoks from Star Wars, but that’s
ok. The tree shelter was conceived by Trees & People to be a suspension style dwelling above the forest floor that leaves
no impact on the trees or environment. Using just two trees and their proprietary No Trace arboreal fixing system, Dom’Up
comes together with a UV-resistant double canvas tent shelter on top of a lightweight, 172 sq ft octagonal platform. The
tent zips closed for complete protection, but there’s also a terrace for nights under the stars. According to Trees & People,
Dom’Up can be setup in as little as two days and can stay in the trees for years. Who doesn’t want an adult clubhouse?

KitchenAid New Coffee Maker Brews With A Vacuum
Drip. Pour. Press. There are almost too many different ways to make good coffee, but if you’ve still got room in your
kitchen you might want to check out the new Siphon Coffee Brewer from KitchenAid. The traditional vacuum coffee maker
(aka vac pot, siphon or syphon) was originally invented in the 1830s. This new KitchenAid design is based off the same
principles, but it’s far more advanced, and convenient, than the other options available. Coffee goes in the globe in the
top, water goes in the carafe in the bottom. Using a heating element hidden in the stand, the water is heated to just-belowboiling. When that happens, the water moves to the brewing chamber to mix with the coffee. Coffee brews, temperatures
change and the coffee returns to the carafe so you can drink it. It’s entertaining, delicious and actually quite convenient.

Hooked On Driving is a leading provider of performance driving programs, commonly known as an high
performance driving experience (HPDE), or high performance driving school (HPDS). These programs are run on
Track Days, at regional tracks such as Thunderhill Raceway, Laguna Seca, Reno-Fernley, Pocono, Autobahn
Country club, and many others. See below for a complete list of Track day venues. We give drivers of high
performance cars and sports cars the opportunity to drive their cars on a race track.
During the first sessions a coach will ride in the passenger seat, and teach the driver high performance driving
techniques. All new drivers need to participate is a helmet (available rentals), and an inspection to be sure their car
is roadworthy. Beginners are given a thorough briefing and are introduced to their coach before they drive their car
on the track. The initial "A Group" for beginning HPDE drivers, teaches smoothness, awareness, and driving a
proper, safe and efficient line on track. A priority is also placed on learning basic car control skills such as late
braking, proper shifting and understanding the concept of the apex of a turn.
While A group has significant passing restrictions to maintain a conservative pace, the B - Intermediate, C Advanced, and D - Race-prepped groups have progressively more flexible passing rules and advanced level
coaching. There is NEVER any competition — wheel to wheel or timed laps — in our programs. Hooked on Driving
HPDE Programs are safe experiences for all, an enjoyable time for every driver — and to assure that our drivers
come away with much more confidence in handling their car in an emergency situation. Hooked On Driving customers
frequently are heard saying that they've had, "The time of their lives!".

Keeneland Concours 2015
Join us on July 16th – 19th as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Keeneland Concours, which has become
Kentucky's premiere automotive lifestyle event.
For our 2015 featured marque, we're doing something a little different. Instead of honoring a single automaker,
we're inviting back the class winners from the past 10 years! We'll feature a Winners Circle Reunion, and celebrate
10 years of automotive excellence while supporting the Kentucky Children's Hospital.
We'll have our usual collection of exquisite automobiles, spanning the earliest years of the motorcar to the future
classics of today. From exquisite European beauties to burly American Iron, there's something for every car lover.
The Concours festivities also include the Hangar Bash, Bourbon Tour, Tour d'Elegance and a full weekend of fun.
Don't miss favorites like the Automotive Artists, Silent Auction and of course the popular car raffle.
Of course, all of this effort is simply our way of supporting the good work of Kentucky Children's Hospital. Proceeds
from every aspect of the Keeneland Concours d'Elegance go to support significant projects of the Hospital's critical
mission to improve healthcare for the children of Kentucky.
