We have a Summer Reading program for everyone in Lindenhurst - see the descriptions below for the one created for you! We look forward to learning about all your reading adventures this summer. Little Squirts READ-TO-ME Club Lindenhurst Memorial Library For children ages birth to not yet entering kindergarten. Pick up our all new READING GAME BOARD at the Children’s Desk beginning June 20th and get ready to have fun this summer as you share books, stories, songs, finger-plays and more with your little one. Little Squirts who complete two reading game boards will receive an entry ticket to our Summer Tots Carnival, scheduled for Saturday, August 6th! School-age club for students entering grades K-5. Stop by the library beginning June 20th to register for our school age club that gives you credit for reading books, magazines, listening to audiobooks, etc... Simply fill out a review sheet, or try your hand at rolling the dice to answer a quick question about your story as we keep track of your reading this summer. Students who tally just 5 books on their log will receive a ticket to the always popular, always fantastic, PETRA PUPPETS ANIMAL GAME SHOW on Wednesday, August 10th, along with a host of other fun incentives along the way. Get In The Game, READ! Teen Reading Club for students entering grades 6-8. Sign up for Get in the Game, READ! starting June 20th and win cool prizes and raffle tickets to some of your favorite Lindy locations - just for reading and attending library programs! Raffles will be drawn on August 15th, during the SummerTEEN Pizza Party. Plus, if you attend some of our programs this summer, like our joint Lindenhurst Middle School - Lindenhurst Memorial Library Books and Bagel programs, you will receive bonus raffle tickets! Adult Reading Club Exercise Your Mind. Read! Join us! Share good books with others and win prizes. Stop by the Reference Desk to register and pick up a reading log beginning June 20th. Return once a week to have your log initialed by a librarian and turn in a brief review (forms available at Reference Desk), then fill out a ticket for our weekly prize drawing. Soccer Success with JumpBunch Ages 2-4 Years Old Monday, July 11, 6:30pm Learn the basics of soccer during this fun, large movement class in our backyard. LNJ107 Sporty Little Artists Ages 2-5 Years Old Including Those Entering Kindergarten Tuesday, July 12, 19, 26 and August 2, 10:00am Create art using a variety of sport related objects in this creative art exploration series that will promote your toddler’s creativity, fine motor and sensory skills. At the final session, we will have a celebration showcasing your child’s hard work, where they can invite special guests to the art show! Registration begins July 1. Come have “tea” with us to find out as we share stories and a homemade movie featuring the resident stuffed animals that live in Lindenhurst! Decorate your own special “tea cup” to bring home! Pre-Licensing Course Participants must have a valid NYS driver’s permit Saturday, July 30, 10:00am - 3:00pm This five hour pre-licensing class is required for ALL permit holders, regardless of age, in order to schedule a road test. After Kahn’s death, the estate changed hands several times. In 1984, developer Gary Melius purchased Oheka and began the painstaking challenge of restoring the castle to it’s original grandeur.
