Parry Sound Area Chamber
of Commerce
About the Chamber

The Chamber of Commerce is a non profit organization
supported by membership investment of individuals and
businesses.

We are further supported through municipal contributions,
fundraising events and the waterfront operation
History of the Chamber
The Parry Sound Area Chamber of Commerce was
originally formed as The Parry Sound Board of
Trade on June 5th, 1897 and encompassed
the Town of Parry Sound, McDougall
Township and Foley Township.
The original Board of Trade had 41 members which
were said to be merchants, traders,
mechanics, manufacturers, managers of
banks, Insurance agents and residents.
The name of the Parry Sound Board of Trade was
later changed to the Parry Sound Chamber of
Commerce.
History of the Chamber Cont.
In 1971 the Parry Sound Chamber of
Commerce changed its name to the Parry
Sound and Area Chamber of Commerce
and with it changed it’s boundaries to
encompass the Town of Parry Sound,
McDougall Township, Seguin Township
(Foley), Carling Township, McKellar
Township, Whitestone Township & the
Township of the Archipelago. Final name
change to the “Parry Sound Area
Chamber of Commerce” took place in
1986.
While the Chamber has grown greatly in size
since it’s formation in 1897 to a
membership base of 372 and a coverage
area of seven municipalities one thing has
always remained the same and that is to
serve our local Business Community.
