This Ad was submitted to the American Advertising Federation’s Addy awards and placed gold along with a silver on the regional level. I created this add by first taking a photograph then used photo shop to add elements along with body text to create a powerful and motivating advertisement 2 Advertisement Adve rtisment 3 Man Enters The Cosmos Concept:The concept of this project was to create a promotional poster for a sculpture in the Chicago land area. When designing this poster I wanted to emphasize the sculpture by making it stand out from its surrounding area but at the same time keeping the environment to show its location in the city. By doing so I was able to create an epic and powerful view of the sculpture. 4 Adve rtisment Advertisement 5 Billboards Concept: When creating billboard advertisements I strive create a design that is easy to read as well as one that is aesthetically pleasing to the viewer. By keeping body text to a minimal you are able to read and perceive the message presented easily and effectively. 6 Adve rtisment Advertisement 7 Posters Concept: The concept behind these poster designs were to create a vintage and retro theme. For a music poster of Jimi Hendrix I wanted to capture a 1970’s style to contrast with the artist genera and style. I also designed the Popcorn Festival poster in a vintage 1950’s theme to capture the essence or the art deco movement. 3 5 TH AN NUA L V ALP ARA SI 0 SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, 2013 8 Adve rtisment Logo Design 9 Hydroelectricity Concept: The concept for this project was to create a logo for the word hydroelectricity. I sought out to create a simple and clean design with a minimalistic feel. Since hydroelectricity is utilizing water to create electricity I felt that by combining an electrical plug that is shaped into a water drop truly represents what hydroelectricity is and how it is used to create energy with water. 10 Adve rtisment Layout Design 11 Magazine Concept: When creating a magazine layout I strive to keep its contents organized and easy to read. When designing the cover for Groove Magazine I wanted to create an earthy and natural look with modern elements by keeping organic colors mixed with modern pattern. When designing Art works in Mental health I chose to create a more technical look showing the advancements in medical technology. Open daily 12 Adve rtisment Layout Design 13 Menu Design Concept: The concept behind this project was to create a restaurant menu with a set theme. I chose to set me theme to the movie The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. By incorporating the movies color scheme and aquatic theme I was able to capture the movies essence in Steve Zissou’s Aquatic Bistro’s menu KL=N=RAKKGMK 14 Layout Design 15 Page layout Concept: The concept for this project was to create a page layout from a preexisting magazine. By hand ripping the page contents I achieved texture to the new layout as well as creating new compositions. I also utilized the space on the girls surfboard as a place for body text. 16 Layout Design 17 Book Cover Concept: There are two different concepts for these two book cover layouts. For The Interpretation of Dreams I chose to design it with lots of color and typography to draw attention to the book with its bold design. For the Ikea book I took a more simplistic method using clean lines, simple text, and basic shapes to convey a sleek and clean design. AFFORDABLE SOLUTIONS FOR BETTER LIVING HOME IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PLACE IN THE WORLD 18 Adve rtisment Illustrations 19 Refelction concept behind this project was to utilize our Concept: The skills in Illustrator to replicated an image that has a reflection as well as a light source and shadow all in one image. After taking the photograph I then used Illustrator to replicate the image. I was then able to use the image for a promotional poster promoting wellness. 20 Adve rtisment Illustrations 21 Coffee Cups project was to create variations of the same Concept: This image but conveying a different mood for each. The first is “Blue” which I used cool colors to give a sense of calm. The second is “Retro” which I used pale vintage colors and textured back ground. The third is “Gothic” which I chose a dark color scheme for. The final is “Violence” which I chose a red color scheme and added a crack and splattered background to convey the mood of violence. 22 Adve rtisment Illustrations 23 Letter Design concept for this project were to create illustrations Concept: The based off of letters. I wanted to create these illustrations to look like hand written letters and drawing. By adding a brush stroke to my lines I was able to achieve the look and feel of hand drawn characters. These illustrations then can be used on a variety of products such as buttons. 24 Adve rtisment Illustrations 25 T-shirt Desi gn concept for this project was to take photographs Concept: The of your favorite items and replicate them in vector form. By using illustrator i was able to create these outlines as well as apply them to t-shirts for t-shirt designs. Canon 26 Illustrations 27 T-shirt Desi gn Concept: When creating these t-shirt designs I wanted to create a pattern and design that is repetitive. Each design has different patterns varying in sizes to create an overall sense of completion. These patterns can then be used for graphic t-shirts and other clothing items. 28 Package Design 29 Cosmetic Packaging Concept: The concept behind this project was to crate a packaging design for makeup. I wanted to create a 1950’s vintage theme mixed with a modern spin. By using design elements that were popular during the Art Deco movement I was able to capture the 1950’s feel by adding a modern twist by choosing a purple color scheme for the products. 30 Package Design 31 DVD Cover concept for Concept: The create a DVD this project was to design and cover. I wanted to create a dramatic and bold DVD cover to catch audience’s attention as well as bring a sense of the films over all theme to the cover. By using original photos and isolating subjects I was able to capture the films drama and adventure into the cover of this DVD 32 Package Design 33 Food Packaging concept for this project was to create a variation Concept: The of patterns to apply to food bag packaging. I wanted to create a western or Hispanic feel for my product. By choosing these different color scheme I am able to create the mood of a Mexican or western style product. 34 Package Design 35 Shopping Bag Concept: This project consisted of creating shopping bag patterns in a variety of colors. I wanted to create a pattern that represented Neo-Plasticism in a way of using squares and repetition. I then chose a variation of colors to show its diversity. 36 Package Design 37 Canvas Bag Concept: The concept for this project was to create a packaging design for a canvas bag incorporating a shoe, chop sticks, and food. By using the chopsticks to pick up the shoes by the laces to represent noodles i was able to combine these elements to create a canvas back design.
