Meet Our New Homeowners The Miller Family - Sheila Miller is thrilled with her new house at 791 Bacon Branch Road in Jonesborough. She and her two grandchildren had been living with relatives in a 100-year-old house which was unsafe and in serious disrepair. “I am so happy to raise my grandchildren in a safer, cleaner environment where we can be warm in winter and cool in summer. The house has been blessed and the Lord has been invited in,” says Sheila. Sheila sends her thanks and love to the congregation of Trinity Assembly of God and the Jonesborough Community Volunteers who helped make her new home possible. Her home was dedicated on March 30, 2013. The Tarter Family The home of Tiffany Tarter and her two children was dedicated on April 13, 2013 at 424 Wilma Street in Kingsport. The house was originally built in 2007 and renovated for the Tarter family by the Kingsport Regulars. Tiffany learned about Habitat for Humanity through a Habitat homeowner who encouraged her to apply. The family’s former living conditions were overcrowded and unstable. Tiffany was overwhelmed and could not wait to have a place to call home. She really enjoyed the hands-on experience she received during the education and budgeting classes. “I am blessed and grateful for this opportunity to start a new journey as a homeowner with Holston Habitat for Humanity,” says Tiffany. The Absher Family Jennie Absher and her children are excited to move into their house this month. Jennie has overcome many obstacles in her life, including living in overcrowded conditions at her previous home, and feels very blessed and thankful to be a part of the Habitat program. Jennie is also thankful for all of the volunteers and partner families she has met through the process. “God blessed me with a house,” she says, “but I think it was more of a blessing to come across good, loving, caring people in the world.” Jennie’s home was built by Kingsport Community Volunteers and is located at 922 Fairview Avenue in Kingsport. The dedication date has not been set at this time, but be sure to check the website or our facebook page for updates! 2013 Summer Projects Jonesborough - A 3-bedroom house is under construction at 1125 Ridge Court in partnership with the Banchetto family and Fairview United Methodist Church.
