Advocate THE SAFETY 2014 Program Certifications Update VISIT US ONLINE www. online.ca VOLUME 8 | ISSUE 1 MAKE YOUR NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION CORTM CERTIFICATION The national standard for safety certification in the construction industry is the Certificate of Recognition (CORTM) Program. The COR Program assists companies in developing, implementing and maintaining an effective health and safety program recognized by the construction industry and buyers of construction services across Canada. The program is designed to help companies reduce the human and financial losses associated with injuries in the construction industry through a comprehensive process involving employee training, internal audits, external audits and certification. Companies serious about success are serious about safety. They recognize the value of being COR certified and promote a culture of workplace health and safety that can provide substantial financial benefits, reduction of injuries and incidents, increased morale and productivity and, most importantly, save lives. COR certification is also more frequently becoming a pre-bid qualification requirement for many buyers of construction services. Qualifying your company to bid can put you at a decided advantage compared to those companies who are not COR certified. Make COR certification one of your resolutions this year and become a safety certified company with the national standard in safety certification. If you are interested in becoming COR certified, contact your nearest SCSA office to request a COR information package, or visit us online at www.scsaonline.ca.
