Drayage-Gear Rental ContainerHandling NewOrleans¯ Houston O. H. Hall Is Pioneering O. H. Hall, a man with a pioneering spirit who has spent his lifetime on the waterfront, has guided Port Stevedoring Company, Inc. since its founding 14 years ago into one of the largest independent stevedoring firms offering service at ports in Houston, Galveston and Freeport. "1 like to tell people that I know the business from the hold up," laughs the veteran who was a longshoreman, foreman and superintendent on the docks. If you visit his offices in Houston’s World Trade Building, you will notice he still has the cotton hook, the sack hook and the rig axe that he used in the old days. It was only natural that Mr. Hall is credited with pioneering the use of shore-based cranes to handle steel products in stevedoring applications. The most recent evidence of Mr. Hall’s pioneering practice is the purchase of a 200-ton Model 9460 American truck crane. "I am proud of the fact that my newest crane is the only one of its capacity serving the .North Side docks at the Port of Houston a 200-ton rated rig to accommodate heavy lifts and containers," Mr. Hall said. The new crane is currently operating w~th 120 feet of boom and a five-sheave hammerhead tip. The large crane is mounted on an American 200-ton six-axle carrier. Port Stevedoring Company has also established Seamarine Warehouses, making it possible for complete service from unloading through trucking and storage.
