Dream Catcher
Dream Catcher
The idea for the design concept started from the “people” and their
“dreams”. San Francisco has been a dreamer’s city; 49ers came to San
Francisco looking for fortunes, Chinese immigrants settled in San
Francisco with dreams for better lives, rich men envisioned building
worthy of San Francisco, and etc. The Gold Rush, immigrant population,
and Victorian styled houses are all integral contributions that created
San Francisco’s unique culture, and this unique culture was mainly
developed by humans’ dreams. Based on these historical backgrounds,
the concept of Touchdown Lounge is “Dream Catcher”, for people who
work to catch their dream.
The primary occupants of this space would be the business travelers.
Although each of them has different purpose of travelling and usage
of Touchdown Lounge, they are all working hard to reach their goals
and achieve their dreams.
The structural design of the space is inspired by dreamcatcher. Since
positive dreams come through the center of the dreamcatcher, the
Touchdown Lounge has its main space in the center, which is the
relaxing area. The curvy partitions and the walls direct the circulation,
so people would be lead into the main area just like the dreamcatcher
does. The soft and gentle movement of dreamcatcher is expressed
through curvy structure and light and soft colored materials. This
Touchdown Lounge is designed to give the sense of a room where
travelers can be comfortable and relaxed so they could keep going
through their journeys and eventually make their dreams come true.
