Information on DAKA graduation loans
As a student you may be eligible for an interest-free graduation loan from Daka
(Darlehenskasse der Studentenwerke des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen), the loan
association of the student services providers in North Rhine-Westphalia.
Daka grants graduation loans of up to 12,000.00 € (per student – not per study
programme). The loans are disbursed in instalments of up to 1000.00 € per month. A oneoff charge of 5 % of the total amount of the loan is withheld to partly cover Daka’s
financing costs.

It is possible to set different disbursement rates at which the loan is paid out on
conclusion of the agreement.

The funding period is based on the student’s needs.

The age of the student and number of semesters play a subordinate role in allocation
of the loans.

Disbursement of the loan can also be terminated early by agreement.
Eligibility

You provide evidence that you have a directly enforceable guarantee from a
suitable guarantor or a bank.

Repayments
Repayment of the loan begins twelve months after the final loan disbursement.
If the student has not yet completed his/her studies at that time, it is possible to defer
repayment without interest for up to twelve months after the regular study period.
Repayment can also be deferred if the student begins a master’s degree after receiving
funding during his/her bachelor’s degree program.
Repayments are made in monthly instalments of 150.00 €. The loan may be repaid early at
any time and by any amount.
