Zerbrechlichkeit ist für das Hotel- und Gaststättengewerbe ein sich wiederholendes
Problem. Um die Lebensdauer der Produkte 10 - bis 50 - mal zu verlängern,
vervollkommnete die F & E Abteilung von ARC INTERNATIONAL im Jahr 1958 eine
technische Behandlung namens „Härtung“. Diese Behandlung verleiht den Produkten
eine ausgezeichnete Festigkeit gegenüber mechanischen und thermischen Beanspruchungen sowie gute Warmhalteeigenschaften.
Das Prinzip der Härtung besteht darin, die Artikel auf eine sehr hohe Temperatur
zu erhitzen und danach abrupt abzukühlen. Dieses Verfahren macht die Artikel
außerordentlich haltbar.
Für die gehärteten Glasprodukte Arcoroc und Luminarc wird, egal ob Gläser oder
Geschirr, das totale Härtungsverfahren „fully tempered“ angewandt:
Nur einige Glashersteller beherrschen dieses Verfahren, das sich von der Teilhärtung,
die andere Hersteller anbieten, wesentlich unterscheidet.
Die Teilhärtung beschränkt sich auf die Anwendung dieses Verfahrens im Mundrandbereich oder am Stielansatz des Glases. Dieser Teil wird sicherlich stark beansprucht,
aber der Artikel kann wie herkömmliches Glas zerbrechen, wenn die Stoßbelastung
auf Boden- oder Kelchbereich einwirkt.
Die gehärteten Artikel bieten erhebliche Vorteile, die von den Nutzern sehr
geschätzt werden.
Die Mehrheit der Glasartikel Arcoroc und eine Vielzahl der Artikel Luminarc
ist gehärtet. Unterscheiden kann man die gehärteten von den ungehärteten
Artikeln am bekannten Elefantenlogo.

process provides products with excellent resistance to heat and mechanical shock, and

to cool them abruptly. This process causes a high durability. For all tempered products
of the Arcoroc and the Luminarc range the total curing „fully tempered“ is applied,
no matter wether it is glasses or dishes:

different to the partial tempering used by some other manufacturers.
The partial tempering is limited to the rim or to the stem region of the glass.
Certainly these parts are heavily used, but the article can shatter like ordinary glass,

The tempered articles provide significant benefits, that are highly estimated by the
users. The majority of the Arcoroc glassware and a variety of the Luminarc articles is
tempered. You can distinguish the tempered from the non tempered items on the
famous elephant logo.
