The Traveling Kind follows the longtime friends' first duet album, 2013's Old Yellow Moon, which won Best
Americana Album at the 56th annual Grammy Awards as well as two awards at the 2013 Americana Music
Association Honors & Awards Show, for Album of the Year and Duo/Group of the Year. The album also debuted at #4
on the Billboard's Top Country Albums chart.
Produced by Grammy Award winner Joe Henry (Billy Bragg, Elvis Costello, Aimee Mann), The Traveling Kind
comprises 11 duet tracks, including six new songs written by Harris and Crowell with co-writing by Mary Carr, Cory
Chisel, Will Jennings, and Larry Klein. Also featured are new renditions of previous Crowell cuts including "No
Memories Hanging Around" as well as new interpretations of Lucinda Williams' "I Just Wanted to See You So Bad"
and Amy Allison's "Her Hair Was Red."
Of the project, Harris comments, "In the words of Willie Nelson, 'The life I love is making music with my friends,' and
there's no better friend for me to make music with than Rodney. I can't wait to get out there on the road with him and
play the songs from this new record."
Crowell adds, "Emmy and I wrote six of the eleven songs on The Traveling Kind, which was recorded in a six-day span
with our Glory Band, Steuart Smith, and Billy Payne. Joe Henry was at the helm as producer and Justin Neibank did
the recording. The experience was pretty much akin to falling off a log."

songwriter spans 40 years. She has recorded more than 25 albums and has lent her talents to countless fellow artists’
recordings. In recognition of her remarkable career, Harris was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in
2008. Her most recent solo album, 2011's Hard Bargain, debuted in the top 20 on the Billboard 200 chart and received

Rodney Crowell is a multi-Grammy Award winner whose songs have been recorded by Johnny Cash, Norah Jones,
Etta James and Grateful Dead among others. His 1988 breakthrough Diamonds and Dirt, generated five #1 singles
and a Grammy Award for the song “After All This Time.” His critically acclaimed works The Houston Kid, Fate’s Right
Hand, The Outsider and Sex and Gasoline were followed by the 2010 release of his memoir, Chinaberry Sidewalks.
Earlier this year, Crowell released KIN: Songs by Mary Karr and Rodney Crowell. The album made its debut at #1 on
the Americana and Country Rock album chart and spent 3 weeks at #1 on the Americana album chart. His honors also
include an ASCAP Lifetime Achievement Award and membership of the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

including a dissolving marriage and his diagnosis ofepilepsy. Curtis found it increasingly difficult to perform at live
concerts, and often hadseizuresduring performances.
On the eve of the band's first American tour in May 1980, Curtis committed suicide. Joy Division's posthumously
released second album,Closer(1980), and the single "Love Will Tear Us Apart" became the band's highest charting

The most dynamic female soul singer in the history of the music, Tina Turner oozed sexuality from every pore in a
performing career that began the moment she stepped on-stage as lead singer of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue in the
late '50s. Her gritty and growling performances beat down doors everywhere, looking back to the double-barreled
attack of gospel fervor and sexual abandon that had originally formed soul in the early '50s. Divorced from Ike in the
mid-'70s, she recorded only occasionally later in the decade but resurfaced in the mid-'80s with a series of hit singles
and movie appearances; her high-profile status was assured well into the '90s.
Born Annie Mae Bullock near Brownsville, TN, she began singing as a teen, and joined Ike Turner's touring show as
an 18-year-old backup vocalist. Just two years later, Tina was the star of the show, the attention-grabbing focal point
for an incredibly smooth-running soul revue headed by Ike and his Kings of Rhythm. The couple began hitting the
charts in 1960 with "A Fool in Love," and notched charting singles throughout the '60s, though the disappointing
position of "River Deep, Mountain High" -- cited by Phil Spector as one of his best productions -- was very hard to take.
All expectations were fulfilled in 1971 with "Proud Mary," a number four hit that became the capstone of Ike & Tina's
Revue. Frustrated by Ike's increasingly irrational behavior, though, Tina walked out just three years later.
She celebrated her newfound freedom in 1975 with a role in the film version of The Who's Tommy. Playing the Acid
Queen, she delivered an outrageous, all-too-brief performance in an otherwise forgettable mistake of a movie. Several
albums were recorded for United Artists during the late '70s, but she appeared to be washed up by the turn of the
decade. Surprisingly, Tina returned in 1983, first teaming with a Heaven 17 project named B.E.F. on a remake of the
Temptations' "Ball of Confusion." Tina's vocal offering was understandably apocalyptic, and she gained a solo deal
with Capitol that same year. Her first single, a cover of Al Green's "Let's Stay Together," hit the Top 30 early in 1984.
Second single "What's Love Got to Do with It" became one of the year's biggest hits, spending three weeks at number
one. Her album Private Dancer included two more Top Ten singles, the title track and "Better Be Good to Me."
With another movie role in 1985 (Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome), she found a number two hit with its theme, "We
Don't Need Another Hero." Her next big hit followed in 1986 ("Typical Male"), after which Tina began to decline, still
charting occasionally and selling respectably with albums including 1989's Foreign Affair, 1996's Wildest Dreams, and
2000's Twenty Four Seven. In 2009, Turner oversaw and added spoken word segments to Beyond: Buddhist and
Christian Prayers, which featured singing from Regula Curti and Dechen Shak-Dagsay. The CD was officially released
a year later in 2010.

Description: Legendary director Roger Corman, known for his “B” films for the American International Pictures, had
filmed The Trip about an LSD trip. The filming was done during a 17 day period beginning in mid-March and ending in
early April in and around Sunset Strip in Los Angeles and starred Peter Fonda, Susan Strasberg, Bruce Dern, Salli
Sachse and Dennie Hopper. Gram Parson’s International Submarine Band was originally suggested to record the
soundtrack but Corman did not feel that Parson’s group’s music fit the movie. Peter Fonda suggested Bloomfield’s
band, which did not yet have a name.
The recording was done over a ten day period for Sidewalk Records, owned by Mike Curb, which had distribution
through Capitol Records. The movie was released in August and the soundtrack was released a short time later. It was
a landmark album that broke barriers. It featured a mixed racial group that played a unique blend of blues, rock,
classical and avant garde music—the first rock band to have horns (ahead of Chicago and Blood, Sweat and Tears)
and the first to feature a Moog synthesizer. Since the band did not have a name, the group was credited as The
American Music Band.

The Electric Flag did not last long as a band—only a little over a year—but they left an indelible imprint on 1960s rock
and roll. The band was formed by Mike Bloomfield, one of rock’s early Guitar Gods, after he left the Paul Butterfield
Blues Band.

Description: The film The Wild Angels, directed by legendary B movie director Roger Corman for American
International Pictures, laid the groundwork for the classic film Easy Rider, released in 1969. Like Easy Rider, The Wild
Angels starred Peter Fonda and featured Harley-Davidson motorcycles and the 1960s counterculture. The film was a
low budget movie about the Hell’s Angels motorcycle gang avenging the loss of a stolen motorcycle. The film was a
cult favorite; it opened the Venice Film Festival in 1966 and went on to gross over $6 million worldwide.
The film score for The Wild Angels was written by Mike Curb with help from co-writers on several numbers and Davie
Allan and the Arrows performed most of the music. Allan and Curb had been in a high school band and the Arrows
evolved out of that group. The two had worked together since they were teenagers. When Mike Curb formed Cude
Records in 1963 the label’s first release was “War Path” by Davie Allan; later Allan and Curb combined to record a
number of singles under names such as the Sudells, the Heyburners and the Zanies on a variety of labels. When Curb
founded Sidewalk Records in 1964, he obtained a distribution agreement with Capitol and landed a deal to supply
Roger Corman’s American International Pictures with soundtracks.

Inspired by David Bowie and Roxy Music, as well as post-punk and disco, schoolmates Nick Rhodes (keyboards) and
John Taylor (guitar) formed Duran Duran in 1978 with their friends Simon Colley (bass, clarinet) and Stephen Duffy
(vocals). Taking their name from a character in Roger Vadim's psychedelic sci-fi film Barbarella, the group began
playing gigs in the Birmingham club, supported by a drum machine. Within a year, Duffy and Colley both left the and
were replaced by former TV Eye vocalist Andy Wickett and drummer Roger Taylor. After recording a demo, John
Taylor switched to bass and guitarist John Curtis joined the band, only to leave within a matter of months. The group
placed an ad in Melody Maker, which drew the attention of Andy Taylor, who became their guitarist. Following
Wickett's departure in 1979, a pair of singers passed through the group before Simon LeBon, a former member of the
punk band Dog Days and a drama student at Birmingham University, joined in early 1980.
