La città di Cesena
Cesena è un antico Comune della Romagna le cui origini probabilmente risalgono al VI-V secolo a.C.
per opera degli “Umbro-Etruschi” e reso importante in epoca romana anche a causa della imponente
opera di “centuriazione” ben visibile ai nostri giorni. Dopo alterne vicissitudini, compreso il susseguirsi delle invasioni barbariche, diventa uno dei primi nuclei del futuro Stato della Chiesa, anche
perché parecchi dei territori erano di proprietà dell’Arcivescovo di Ravenna, feudatario dell’Imperatore.
Il ’200 caratterizza l’Italia per i vari mutamenti dei governi delle città e non per questo Cesena ne
rimane immune.
Citata anche da Dante nel canto XXVII dell’Inferno, nel tempo si succedono diverse Signorie tra cui
quella degli Ordelaffi, e dei Malatesta. Ed è proprio in quest’ultima che Cesena vive il suo massimo
splendore, grazie anche a Galeotto Malatesta che diede inizio alla nuova Rocca e alla Cattedrale, e
a Novello Malatesta, appassionato bibliofilo, che donò alla città una splendida Biblioteca, da poco
iscritta nei beni dell’Unesco.
Alla morte di quest’ultimo, Cesena tornò sotto il dominio pontificio, ma dopo breve un’altra Signoria, i Borgia ne ripresero il dominio.
La città salì nuovamente agli onori nel 1775, quando venne nominato Papa il cesenate Giovan Battista Braschi con il nome di Pio VI, dando avvio alla triade cesenate: PioVII Chiaramonti e Pio VIII
Castiglioni, già Vescovo di Cesena. Sempre al centro di lotte politiche, dall’esperienza napoleonica
all’unità d’Italia, non passò indenne neanche attraverso le guerre mondiali (la linea gotica correva sul
crinale appenninico a pochi Km dalla città) ma, grazie anche al carattere tipico dei Romagnoli, riuscì
ogni volta a resistere e ricominciare.
Oggi la città può vantare una posizione di primo piano in diversi settori economici, una vita culturale
sempre fervida e una qualità di vita invidiabile se paragonata a quella delle grandi città italiane.

Origini e storia del club
Il giorno 11 febraio 1961, nella sala riunioni della vecchia sede dell’ENCI in viale Premuda 21 a Milano, dieci
persone, appassionate di Bassotti, si incontrano per decidere in merito alla costituzione dell’ABC, Amici Bassotto Club.
Essi sono: Carlo Bestetti, il conte Gianpiero di Belgioioso, donna Elsa Bodo Dragoni, Anna Furlani, Mario
Kopf, Joe Masi, Rio Negri, Yvonne Negri Benedetti, la contessa Paola Quintavalle, Elio Soliani.
Di questi nomi alcuni rimarranno nella storia della razza per particolari meriti cinofili e tutti nel ricordo dei
bassottisti che li conobbero.
Il 7 luglio del 1961 il Consiglio Direttivo dell’ENCI, nella persona del suo Presidente Giulio Colombo, riconosce ufficialmente l’ABC. Viene eletto Presidente il conte Belgioioso, che mantiene l’incarico per tre anni. Fra i
fondatori c’è anche un artista, Joe Masi, amico di Rio Negri e possessore di un simpatico Bassotto a pelo corto
“della Vevera”, oltre che valente pittore. La contessa Paola Quintavalle, altro Socio fondatore, alleva Bassotti
a pelo corto nero focato con l’affisso “dell’Uliveto” nella sua tenuta di Vaprio d’Adda e si diverte ad incitarli
ad entrare in tana. Su disegno del giudice tedesco Kampausen, fa costruire delle cucce con un ingresso fatto a
manica per abituare i cuccioli all’ambiente buio e stretto della tana ed è fra i primi Soci ad aderire all’istituzione
della Prova di Lavoro per i Bassotti. Elio Soliani, per altri motivi, rimarrà nella storia dell’ENCI. Le Esposizioni sono motivo d’incontro per misurare i propri Bassotti sui ring, ma anche per stare insieme e passare una bella domenica all’aria aperta, dato che quasi tutte le Esposizioni si svolgono nei parchi. I Consiglieri collaborano
con molto entusiasmo, ma l’anima del Club è sempre Negri, che da persona attiva qual è, propone iniziative
e programmi. Per prima cosa si preoccupa di tradurre lo standard della razza dall’originale e di gettare le basi
per un regolamento delle Prove di Lavoro, successivamente approvato dall’ENCI.
L’ABC inizia a consolidarsi e, sia pure lentamente, il numero dei Soci aumenta. I ring dei Bassotti hanno pochi
soggetti presenti, difficilmente più di dieci-dodici, ma il Presidente è sempre presente per incoraggiare, aiutare,
consigliare e anche divertire con la sua piacevole compagnia. I buoni risultati in patria spingono i Bassottisti a
tentare le Esposizioni internazionali, e i successi non mancano. Negri anche all’estero è sempre presente per
incoraggiare o consolare! L’Italia è entrata nel mondo internazionale del Bassotto col piede giusto e questo
merito è in buona parte proprio dovuto all’assistenza tecnica e umana del Presidente dell’ABC, che non cessa
di incitare a portare in Esposizione i soggetti validi e di dissuadere i proprietari di soggetti difettosi non solo a
non frequentare le Esposizioni, ma anche a non usarli
nella riproduzione. Un’oculata gestione dell’ABC riesce a sventare il pericolo che l’ENCI inserisca i Bassotti fra i cani da compagnia, escludendoli dalla categoria
dei cani da caccia. Negri si oppone, sentito il parere
del Consiglio, alla decisione di togliere l’obbligatorietà della Prova di Lavoro per il conseguimento del
titolo di Campione di Bellezza. Viene così ripristinata
l’obbligatorietà della Prova di Lavoro, riaffermando le
caratteristiche di cacciatore del Bassotto.
Il Bassotto cacciatore inizialmente non è preso molto
in considerazione dai cacciatori italiani, non abituati
a questo tipo di ausiliario. La tradizione venatoria italiana si discosta, salvo l’Alto Adige e parte del Veneto, dal tipo di caccia mitteleuropea. D’altronde solo
oggi, dopo tanti anni, non stupisce l’uso del Bassotto

in determinati tipi di caccia. Le prime Prove di Lavoro in tana
sono fatte insieme ai terrieristi in alcune tane piemontesi, che
però rimangono attive solo per breve tempo, e ad Arluno presso
Luciano Bocchese, che allestisce un impianto molto efficiente.
Verso il 1967 Vittorio Lamberti Zanardi costruisce nella sua
proprietà a Sala Baganza la prima tana regolamentare per Bassotti, perfettamente corrispondente alle norme dettate dal DTK
e dalla FCI e diviene vice Presidente del Club.
Quasi contemporaneamente Gianni Bartesaghi accetta la carica
di segretario collaborando molto attivamente specie nel settore
lavoro. Finalmente i Bassottisti hanno una loro tana e Sala Baganza diviene il punto di incontro fra appassionati anche per
i primi Raduni di razza. Nel frattempo entrano a far parte del
Consiglio altri allevatori importanti, come Giuliana Feri e la
contessa Anna Girani. La collaborazione col Presidente e con il vice Presidente si fa sempre più attiva e il suo
entusiasmo per il Lavoro porta il Club ad alti livelli.
Nel 1982 Negri, dopo un ininterrotto e fecondo ventennio, lascia la presidenza e il Consiglio nomina Lamberti
Zanardi nuovo Presidente dell’ABC. Il programma di miglioramento e sviluppo della razza viene continuato
mentre si realizzano altre iniziative, come il regolamento per il Campionato Sociale (che viene svolto per la
prima volta nel 1983) e per la conferma di taglia. La popolazione di Bassotti è notevolmente aumentata e nel
1982 in totale vengono iscritti al LOI ben 557 Bassotti.
Sia in Esposizione che nelle Prove in tana la partecipazione dei Bassotti è in continuo aumento.
Si creano rapporti sempre più fecondi non solo con la Germania ma anche con la Francia e l’Ungheria.
Aumentano il numero dei Raduni e la tana di Sala Baganza diviene anche sede di Prove internazionali. Nel
1990 tutto il Consiglio viene rinnovato, la presidenza passa a Maria Romana Stoppa e l’impegno di segreteria
viene diviso tra Gianni Bartesaghi e Piera Croce. Nel 1990 gli iscritti al LOI sono già 920 e l’anno successivo
superano per la prima volta le mille unità. Durante la presidenza di Maria Romana Stoppa gli allevatori italiani diventano presenza fissa nelle grandi manifestazioni FCI (Mondiale, Europea, Klubsieger e Bundessieger
tedeschi), ottenendo sempre ottimi risultati. Ugualmente nel Lavoro (solo però nelle Prove in tana) i risultati
non mancano. Nel 1997 (con il numero di iscritti al LOI pari a 1330) viene eletto Presidente Abele Barbati,
con un consiglio molto rinnovato. La segreteria passa da Piera Croce a Titti Padova che la manterrà fino al
2003, quando il numero dei cuccioli supera i 1900. Nel 2000
viene pubblicato per la prima volta il trimestrale BcomeBassotto sotto la direzione di Beatrice Brandt, alla quale subentrerà
Laura Ranza dal 2006 fino al 2007. Dal 2008 è storia d’oggi,
come potete leggere su ogni rivista di questi ultimi due anni.
Nel 2003 viene eletto Presidente Antonio Palladini. che mantiene anche attualmente tale carica. La segreteria viene tenuta da
Lucia Ranza (fino al 2007), poi da Andrea Logli (fino ad inizio
2008) e quindi da Mirco Traversi. Il numero dei cuccioli iscritti
al LOI (ora ROI) cresce progressivamente, tanto da superare,
nel 2009, quota 3000. Ugualmente aumentano il numero di Speciali e Raduni.
Nel 2003 l’ABC organizza per la prima volta la Coppa Europa
FCI in Tana, dove vince con la squadra e arriva seconda nella
classifica individuale. Nel 2004 e 2006 viene organizzata in Italia
la Coppa Europa FCI sopraterra (prova multipla Vp) con ottimi risultati per i cani italiani (2° posto individuale nel 2004 e 1° posto a squadre nel 2006).
Nel 2006, su proposta dell’ABC, viene organizzato il primo Campionato del mondo WUT per Bassotti. Verrà
effettuato a Bologna con oltre 370 iscritti di cui moltissimi stranieri. Nel 2010 sono state organizzate le Mostre
Speciali di Milano, Reggio Emilia, Cagliari, Pisa, Torino, Napoli, Genova e Verona ed i Raduni di Montichiari,
Mastrati, Grosseto, Palermo, Cimafava, Roma, Cesena (Campionato Sociale) ed Insubria.
Nel 2010 viene organizzata la Coppa del Mondo WUT su traccia di sangue dove i Bassotti italiani vincono in
entrambe le specialità.

Cesena ist eine antike Stadt in der Romagna, deren Entstehung vermutlich bis ins VI-V Jahrhundert v.
Chr. zurück reicht und Werk der Umbro-Etrusker ist. In der Römerzeit erlangte sie Bedeutung aufgrund
der beeindruckenden Katasterierung, die bis heute erkennbar ist.
Nach zahlreichen geschichtlichen Wechselfällen, einschließlich fortlaufender barbarischer Invasionen,
wird sie eine der ersten Keimzellen des zukünftigen Kirchenstaates, auch deshalb, weil der Erzbischof
von Ravenna Besitzer einer Vielzahl von Besitztümern und Feudalherr des Kaisers war.
Das zweite Jahrhundert in Italien ist von zahlreichen Herrscherwechseln in den Städten gekennzeichnet,
auch Cesena ist nicht dagegen gefeit. Zitiert auch im XXVII Gesang von Dantes „Inferno“, folgen mit
der Zeit verschiedene Herrscherhäuser, unter anderem das der „Ordelaffi“, und das der „Malatesta“. In
dieser Zeit erlebt Cesena die Hochzeit seiner Blüte, dank Galeotto Malatestas, der den Bau der Burg und
der Kathedrale begann. Auch dank Novello Malatestas, leidenschaftlich bibliophil, der der Stadt eine
wunderbare Bibliothek vermachte, die seit kurzem sogar zum UNESCO Weltdokumentenerbe zählt.
Mit dem Tode des Letzteren, kehrte Cesena kurz unter päpstliche Herrschaft zurück, aber schon bald
übernahm erneut ein Herrscherhaus - das der „Borgi“ - das Sagen.
Die Stadt kam im Jahr 1775 wieder zu Ehren, als der Cesenate Giovan Battista Graf Braschi zum Papst
Pius VI. ernannt wird und damit Auftakt einer Triade von aus Cesena stammenden Päpsten bildet: Pius
VII. Graf Chiaramonti und Pius VIII. Castiglioni, bereits Bischof von Cesena.
Immer im Zentrum von politischen Kämpfen, von den napoleonischen Erfahrungen bis zur Einheit Italiens, blieb Cesena nicht verschont, auch nicht in den Weltkriegen (die gotische Linie führte die wenige
Kilometer von der Stadt entfernte Hügelkette entlang), aber dank der typischen Charakterzüge der „Romagnoli“, konnten sie alles durchstehen und neu beginnen.
Heute rühmt sich die Stadt, die in verschiedenen Bereichen der Wirtschaft prominente Bedeutung erlangt hat, eines prickelnden kulturellen Lebens und einer, im Vergleich zu anderen großen italienischen
Städten, beneidenswerten Lebensqualität.

Wurzeln und Geschichte des Klubs
Am 11. Februar 1961 trafen sich zehn Dachshundliebhaber im Versammlungssaal der ehemaligen Niederlassung
des Dachverbandes für das Hundewesen in Italien (ENCI) in der Viale Premuda 21 in Mailand, um die Gründung des italienischen Teckelklubs „Amici Bassotto Club“ (ABC) zu beschließen.
Es waren: Carlo Bestetti, Graf Gianpiero di Belgioioso, Frau Elsa Bodo Dragoni, Anna Furlani, Mario Kopf, Joe
Masi, Rio Negri, Yvonne Negri Benedetti, Gräfin Paola Quintavalle und Elio Soliani.
Von diesen bleiben einige Namen, aufgrund ihrer besonderen Liebe zu den Hunden und ihrer Verdienste um
ebendiese, eng mit der Geschichte der Rasse verbunden. Sie bleiben auch in Erinnerung all der DachshundLiebhaber, die sie persönlich kannten.
Am 7. Juli 1961 wurde der italienische Teckelklub ABC (Amici Bassotto Club) offiziell vom Vorstand des Dachverbandes für das Hundewesen in Italien (ENCI) und dessen Vorsitzenden Giulio Colombo anerkannt.
Zum Klubvorsitzenden wurde Graf Belgioioso gewählt, der das Amt drei Jahre inne hielt. Unter den Gründungsmitgliedern war auch ein Künstler, Joe Masi. Er war nicht nur Freund von Rio Negri und Besitzer eines
sympathischen Kurzhaardackels „della Vevera“, sondern auch ein überaus begabter Maler. Die Gräfin Paola
Quintavalle, ebenfalls Gründungsmitglied, züchtete schwarze Kurzhaardackel mit Brand unter der Bezeichnung
„dell’ Uliveto“ auf ihrem Anwesen in Vaprio d’Adda und richtete sie dazu ab, in Bauten zu kriechen. Sie ließ,
entsprechend der Zeichnungen des deutschen Richters Kamphausen, Hundehütten mit Eingängen in Form von
engen Gängen bauen, um die Welpen an die Dunkelheit und die Enge der Bauten zu gewöhnen. Und war eines
der ersten Mitglieder, das mit Dachshunden an der Gebrauchsprüfung für Jagdhunde teilnahm.
Elio Soliani wird ebenfalls, wenngleich aus anderen Gründen, immer mit der Geschichte des Dachverbandes
für das Hundewesen in Italien (ENCI) verbunden bleiben. Die Schauen dienen nicht nur dazu, die eigenen Dachshunde mit anderen zu messen, sondern auch dem geselligen Beisammensein an einem schönen Sonntag an der
frischen Luft, denn fast alle Ausstellungen finden in Parkanlagen statt. Die Gremiumsmitglieder arbeiten mit viel
Enthusiasmus zusammen, aber das Herz des Klubs ist und bleibt Negri, der, aktiv wie er ist, Initiativen entwickelt
und Programme vorschlägt. Zunächst kümmerte er sich um die Übersetzung der Original-Züchtungsrichtlinien
und darum, die Grundlagen für die Gebrauchsprüfungen festzulegen, die in der Folge vom Dachverband für das
Hundewesen in Italien (ENCI) verabschiedet wurden.
Der italienische Teckelklub ABC (Amici Bassotto Club) konsolidiert sich, und so steigt die Zahl der Mitglieder
wenngleich langsam, so doch stetig. Die Treffen der Teckel verzeichnen nur wenige Teilnehmer, kaum mehr als
zehn bis zwölf, aber der Vorsitzende ist immer anwesend, ermuntert, berät und unterhält in seiner sympathischen Art. Die guten Resultate im Heimatland ermuntern die Teckelhalter, sich an internationalen Schauen zu
versuchen, und die Erfolge bleiben nicht aus. Negri ist auch im Ausland immer anwesend und bereit, Mut zuzusprechen oder zu trösten! Italien hat auf die richtige Art und Weise Einstieg in die internationale Welt der Teckel
gefunden und diese Tatsache ist zum großen Teil Verdienst der technischen und menschlichen Unterstützung
des Vorsitzenden des italienischen Teckelklubs ABC (Amici Bassotti Club), der unermüdlich dazu anspornt,
die gelungen, wertvollen Hunde zu den Schauen zu bringen, und der die Eigentümer von Hunden mit nachteiligen
Merkmalen dazu anhält, diese nicht nur nicht zu den Ausstellungen zu bringen, sondern diese auch in der Züchtung
nicht einzusetzen.
Dank des aufmerksamen Einsatzes des italienischen Teckelklubs ABC (Amici Bassotto Club) gelingt es, die Gefahr,
dass die Teckel vom Dachverband für das Hundewesen
in Italien (ENCI) nur als Begleithunde eingestuft und als
Jagdhunde ausgeschlossen werden, abzuwenden.
Negri widersetzt sich der Meinung des Gremiums, die
Pflicht zur Gebrauchsprüfung zur Erreichung des Titels
„Schönheitskönig“ aufzuheben. Die Ablegung der Gebrauchsprüfung bleibt somit weiterhin notwendiger Bestandteil
zur Titelerreichung und bestätigt den Teckel mit seinen Charakteristiken als Jagdhund.
Der Teckel wird anfangs von italienischen Jägern zur Jagd
nicht in Betracht gezogen, da sie an diese Art von „Helfer“

nicht gewöhnt sind. Die italienische, waidmännische Tradition
unterscheidet sich - mit Ausnahme von Südtirol und der Region
Venetien - von der, der mitteleuropäischen Jagd. Erst heute, nach
vielen Jahren, erstaunt der Einsatz von Teckeln nicht mehr bei
bestimmten Jagden. Die ersten Gebrauchsprüfungen für Teckel
wurden, zusammen mit den Terriern, in verschiedenen Anlagen
im Piemont abgehalten - aber sie blieben nur kurze Zeit aktiv und in Arluno bei Luciano Bocchese, der eine sehr leistungsfähige
Anlage aufbaute.
Um 1967 baute Vittorio Lamberti Zanardi auf seinem Gut in Sala
Baganza die erste reguläre Anlage gemäß den, vom Deutschen
Teckel Klub (DTK) und dem kynologischen Weltverband(FCI)
statuierten Normen, für Teckel auf, und wurde Vizevorsitzender
vom Klub. Fast gleichzeitig akzeptiert Gianni Bartesaghi die Stelle als Sekretär und arbeitet sehr aktiv im Bereich
„Jagdarbeit“ mit. Endlich haben die Teckelhalter ihre eigene Anlage und Sala Baganza wird Treffpunkt von Fans
und ersten rassenspezifischen Treffen. Zwischenzeitlich spielen im Vorstand zunehmend weitere bedeutende
Züchter, wie Giuliana Feri und die Gräfin Anna Girani, eine Rolle. Die Zusammenarbeit mit dem Vorsitzenden
und dem Vizepräsidenten des Klubs gestaltet sich immer reger und ihr Enthusiasmus für den Bereich „Jagdarbeit“ hebt den Klub auf ein neues Niveau.
1982, nach zwanzig ununterbrochenen, fruchtbaren Jahren, gibt Negri den Vorsitz ab, und der Vorstand nominiert Lamberti Zanardi als neuen Vorsitzenden vom Klub ABC (Amici Bassotti Club). Das Programm zur Verbesserung und Entwicklung der Rasse wird fortgesetzt, gleichzeitig weitere Initiativen realisiert, wie zum Beispiel
die Erstellung des Regelwerkes für das „Campionato Sociale“ (welches 1983 zum ersten Mal stattfand) und für
das Größenbestätigungsverfahren. Die Zahl der Dachshunde ist beträchtlich gestiegen und 1982 sind insgesamt
557 Teckel im italienischen Abstammungsverzeichnis LOI (Libro Origini Italiano) registriert.
Sowohl bei den Schauen als auch bei den Anlagenprüfungen steigt die Zahl der Teckel kontinuierlich. Es entwickeln sich immer fruchtbarere Beziehungen nicht nur zu Deutschland, sondern auch zu Frankreich und Ungarn.
Die Zahl der Versammlungen steigt und die Anlage in Sala Baganza wird auch Schauplatz von internationalen
Prüfungen. 1990 erneuert sich der gesamte Vorstand, der Vorsitz geht über an Maria Romana Stoppa und die
Aufgaben des Sekretariats teilen sich Gianni Bartesaghi und Piera Croce. 1990 sind bereits 920 Registrierungen
im italienischen Abstammungsverzeichnis LOI (Libro Origini Italiano) zu verzeichnen und im Folgejahr wird
erstmals das Tausend überschritten. Während des Vorsitzes von Maria Romana Stoppa werden die italienischen
Züchter zur festen Größe bei den großen Veranstaltungen des kynologischen Weltverbandes FCI (Fédération
Cynologique Internationale), der Weltmeisterschaft, dem Europa Pokal, Klubsieger und Bundessieger), sie erreichen immer hervorragende Ergebnisse. Auch im Bereich Gebrauchsprüfung (aber nur in den Anlagenprüfungen)
bleiben die Erfolge nicht aus. 1997 (mit bereits 1330 Registrierungen im italienischen Abstammungsverzeichnis
LOI), wird Abele Barbati zum Vorsitzenden gewählt, zusammen mit etlichen neuen Gremiumsmitgliedern.
Das Sekretariat wird von Piera Croce an Titti Padova abgegeben, die dieses Amt bis 2003 inne hat, als die Zahl
der Welpen 1900 übersteigt. Im Jahr 2000 wird, unter der Federführung von Beatrice Brandt, zum ersten Mal das Quartalsmagazin „BcomeBassotto“ veröffentlicht. Ihr folgt Laura Ranza von
2006 bis 2007. Von 2008 bis heute ist auf jedem Heft der letzten
zwei Jahre nachzulesen. 2003 wird Antonio Palladini zum Vorsitzenden gewählt, der dieses Amt bis heute innehält. Das Sekretariat wird von Lucia Ranza (bis 2007), dann von Andrea Logli (bis
Anfang 2008) und in Folge von Mirco Traversi übernommen. Die
Zahl der im italienischen Abstammungsverzeichnis LOI (heute
ROI - Registro Origini Italiano) registrierten Welpen steigt kontinuierlich, so dass die Quote im Jahr 2009 die 3000 übersteigt.
Gleichzeitig steigt die Zahl der Sonderveranstaltungen und Versammlungen.
2003 richtet zum ersten Mal der italienische Teckelklub ABC den
Europapokal des kynologischen Weltverbandes FCI (Fédération
Cynologique Internationale) aus, wird Mannschaftssieger und
Zweiter in der Einzelwertung. 2004 und 2006 wird in Italien der Europapokal FCI (Vielseitigkeitsprüfung) mit
ausgezeichneten Ergebnissen für die italienischen Hunde (2. Platz in der Einzelwertung 2004 und 1. Platz für die
Mannschaft 2006) ausgetragen.
Im Jahr 2006 findet, auf Vorschlag des italienischen Teckelklubs ABC, die erste Weltsiegerschau WUT (Welt
Union Teckel) für Teckel statt. Abgehalten wird sie in Bologna mit über 370 Teilnehmern, darunter eine Vielzahl
von Teilnehmern aus dem Ausland. 2010 finden Spezialschauen in Mailand, Reggio Emilia, Cagliari, Pisa, Torino, Napoli, Genova und Verona statt, sowie die Versammlungen von Montichiari, Mastrati, Grosseto, Palermo,
Cimafava, Roma, Cesena („Campionato Sociale”) und Insubria.
Im Jahr 2010 wird die Weltsiegerschau WUT (Welt Union Teckel) nach Blutlinie organisiert, bei der die italienischen Teckel in beiden Spezialgebieten gewinnen.

Aussteller sind allein verantwortlich für Schäden, die durch ihre Hunde verursacht werden. Der Aussteller
muss der Ring in der Zeit in der Reihenfolge aus dem Katalog definiert präsentieren.
Mit der Unterzeichnung des Antragsformulars für alle Aussteller akzeptiert die Regeln der Veranstaltung.
Der Veranstalter behält sich das Recht vor, Richter zu ändern.
Die Teilnahmegebühr beträgt jeweils unabhängig davon, ob der Hund teilnehmen Ausstellung bezahlt.
Beanstandungen sind nur während der Ausstellung gelöst.
Der Aussteller muss vorlegen Nachweis der Tollwutimpfung bei Hunden registriert (Reisepass und / oder
Gesundheit-Karte). Die letzte Impfung muss mindestens einen Monat, aber nicht mehr als ein Jahr sein.

CESENA
Cesena is an old town in the Romagna region, and its origins probably date back to the 6 th5 th Century b.C., due to the Umbrian-Etruscans. During Roman times it became important
thanks to the impressive “centuriation” work, that can still be clearly seen nowadays. After
that, Cesena experienced many positive and negative events, including recurring barbarian
invasions, and it then became one of the first centres of the future Papal States. Indeed,
many of its areas belonged to the Archbishop of Ravenna, who was a vassal of the emperor.
In the 13 th Century many city and town governments changed in Italy, and this also happened to Cesena.
Furthermore, Cesena was mentioned by Dante Alighieri in the 27 th canto of the Inferno,
and was ruled by several seigneuries along the centuries, including the Ordelaffi and the
Malatesta. Under the Malatesta reign the town had its golden age. This was among others
due to Galeotto Malatesta, who started the new fortress and the cathedral, and to Novello
Malatesta, a bibliophile, who gave the town a wonderful library. The Malatestiana Library
has recently been included in the UNESCO Memory of the World Programme Register.
After Novello Malatesta’s death, Cesena returned under papal domination, but short afterwards another seigneury, the Borgia, took the power.
Cesena became notorious again in 1775, when its citizen Giovan Battista Braschi was elected
Pope, with the name of Pius VI. He was the first of a series of three Popes related to Cesena:
the following two were Pius VII Chiaramonti and Pius VIII Castiglioni, who had been Bishop of the town. Cesena was often at the centre of political disputes, from the Napoleonic Era
to the Unification of Italy, through the World Wars (the Gothic Line ran along the Apennine
ridge, only a few km away from the town). Nevertheless, it managed to resist and start again
every time, also thanks to the typical character of the Romagna people.
Nowadays the town enjoys a prominent position in several economic fields, a very active
cultural life, and an enviable quality of life, if compared to bigger Italian cities.

Club history
On the 11th of February 1961, ten Dachshund lovers met in the meeting room of the old base of the ENCI
(Ente Nazionale della Cinofilia Italiana, National Corporation of Italian Dog Lovers), in 21 Viale Premuda in
Milan, to discuss the creation of the ABC, Amici Bassotto Club (Club of Dachshund Friends).
They were: Carlo Bestetti, Count Gianpiero of Belgioioso, donna Elsa Bodo Dragoni, Anna Furlani, Mario
Kopf, Joe Masi, Rio Negri, Yvonne Negri Benedetti, Countess Paola Quintavalle, and Elio Soliani.
Some of these names have become famous in the history of this dog breed, thanks to special kennel merits, and
all of them are still remembered by the Dachshund lovers who got to know them.
On the 7th of July 1961, the head of ENCI’s Board of Directors, Giulio Colombo, officially recognized the ABC
on behalf of the Corporation. The Count of Belgioioso was elected President and held office for three years.
Among the founders there was also an artist, Joe Masi. As well as being a talented painter, he was a friend of
Rio Negri and possessed a short-haired Dachshund “from the Vevera”. Countess Paola Quintavalle, who was
also a founder member, used to breed short-haired, black and tan Dachshunds, called “dell’Uliveto”, in her
estate in Vaprio d’Adda. She amused herself spurring the dogs to enter dens, and following a design by the
German judge Kampausen she let some kennels with a sleeve-like entrance be built, to get the puppies used to
dark and narrow environments, as are dens. Furthermore, she was one of the first members to join the institution of the Working Test for Dachshunds. Elio Solani, on his turn, has remained in ENCI’s history for different
reasons. At that time, Dog Shows were a good way to meet and measure dogs’ performance on a ring, but also
to spend some time together outside on a nice Sunday, as most Shows were held in parks. The Counsellors cooperated enthusiastically, but Negri remained the core of the Club: being an active person, he proposed many
initiatives and programmes. First and foremost he translated the breed standard from the original and laid the
foundation for the Working Test regulations, which were later approved by the ENCI.
The ABC started to consolidate and membership slowly grew. There were usually just a few dogs on the
Dachshund ring, rarely more than ten or twelve, but the President was always there to encourage, help, advise,
and also pleasantly entertain people. The good results in Italy prompted the Dachshund lovers to take part
in International Shows, where they experienced many success stories. Even abroad, Negri was always there
to encourage or comfort people! Italy entered the international Dachshund world on the right foot, mostly
thanks to the technical and personal assistance of ABC’s President. He kept on suggesting that worthy dogs
take part in Shows and dissuading the owners of defective subjects not only from entering Shows, but also
from using the dogs for breeding. Thanks to sound
management, the ABC succeeded in avoiding that the
ENCI include Dachshunds among pet dogs, excluding them from the category of hunting dogs. Having
consulted the Council, Negri opposed the decision to
cancel the obligation of Working Tests to win the title
of Champion of Beauty, so that the Dachshund’s hunting features were reaffirmed.
Initially, the hunting Dachshund wasn’t often taken
into account by Italian hunters, who were not used
to this kind of auxiliary. The Italian hunting tradition,
apart from the region Alto Adige and partly Veneto,
is different from the Central European hunting. Only
today, after many years, people are not surprised by
the use of Dachshunds in some kinds of hunting. The

first Working Tests were performed together with Terrier breeders in some dens in the Piedmont region (but these dens were
only active for a short time), and in Arluno, where Luciano Bocchese had a very efficient plant.
Around 1967, Vittorio Lamberti Zanardi built in his estate in
Sala Baganza the first statutory den for Dachshunds, which perfectly complied with the DTK and FCI regulations, and he became the Club’s Vice-President.
Gianni Bartesaghi accepted to become the Club’s Secretary almost at the same time, and he cooperated very actively especially in the Work field. The Dachshund lovers finally had their
own den, and Sala Baganza became their meeting point, also for
the first Breed Gatherings. In the meanwhile, other important
breeders joined the Council, such as Giuliana Feri and Countess
Anna Girani. The Council, the President and the Vice-President cooperated more and more actively, and their
enthusiasm for the Work brought the Club to a high level.
In 1982, after twenty continuous and fruitful years, Negri stepped down from the Presidency, and the Council
appointed Lamberti Zanardi new President of the ABC. The Club continued to improve and develop the
breed, as well as launching new initiatives, such as the regulations for the Club Championship (which first
took place in 1983) and for the size confirmation. The number of Dachshunds had consistently grown, and in
1982 as many as 557 Dachshunds were registered in the LOI (Libro Origini Italiano), the Italian Stud Book.
In those years, more and more Dachshunds took part in Shows and Den Tests, and the cooperation was increasingly fruitful not only with Germany, but also with France and Hungary.
The number of Gatherings rose and the den of Sala Barganza became a venue for International Tests. In 1990
the whole Council was renewed, Maria Romana Stoppa took over the Presidency, and Gianni Bartesaghi and
Piera Croce became Secretaries. In 1990 there were 920 Dachshunds registered in the LOI, and the next
year they exceeded one thousand for the first time. During Maria Romana Stoppa’s Presidency Italian breeders started to be constantly present at big FCI events (World and European Show, German Klubsieger and
Bundessieger), always achieving very good results. Many success stories were also experienced in Working
Tests (but only in Den Tests). In 1997 there were 1330 LOI-registered Dachshunds, Abele Barbati was elected
President, and the Council was changed to a large extent. Titti Padova replaced Piera Croce as Secretary, and
maintained this role until 2003, when the number of puppies
exceeded 1900. In 2000 the quarterly review BcomeBassotto
(which means DforDachshund) was published for the first time,
edited by Beatrice Brandt, who was replaced by Laura Ranza
from 2006 to 2007. From 2008, we can talk about recent history,
which has been described in the review issues of the past two
years. Antonio Palladini has been President since 2003. Lucia
Ranza was Secretary until 2007, Andrea Logli occupied the role
from 2007 to the beginning of 2008, and then Mirco Traversi
succeeded him and is the current Secretary. The number of puppies registered in the LOI (which is now called ROI, Registro
Origini Italiano) has been gradually rising, and in 2009 it exceeded 3000. The number of Special Shows and Gatherings has
been growing as well.
In 2003 the ABC organised the FCI European Den Cup for the
fist time, and it won it with its team and came second in the singles ranking. In 2004 and 2006 the FCI European Overground Cup (Vp multiple trial) was held, and Italian dogs achieved very good results (2nd singles
place in 2004 and 1st team place in 2006).
In 2006 the first WUT World Championship for Dachshunds was organised on a proposal from ABC. It took
place in Bologna, with over 370 participants, many of which were foreign. In 2010 Special Shows were held in
Milan, Reggio Emilia, Cagliari, Pisa, Turin, Naples, Genoa and Verona, and Gatherings took place in Montichiari, Mastrati, Grosseto, Palermo, Cimafava, Rome, Cesena (Club Championship) and Insubria.
In 2010 the WUT Blood-Tracking World Cup was held, and Italian Dachshunds won both specialties.
