Der Besuch von Mircrosoft Chef Steve Balmer in Berlin gab Anlass, endlich wieder einen neuen Rechner in Betrieb
zu setzen [1] und auf diesem eine alte Version vom Microsoft Flight Simulator X Deluxe Edition (c) 2006
aufzuspielen. [2]
Das Ziel der ganzen Aktion war die Installation und Aktivierung eines "Add-on für den Flight Simulator X" von der
Firma aeroSOFT: DA20-100 KATANA. [3] [4]
Da das Programm zuvor auf einem anderen, schwächeren Rechner installiert und aktiviert worden war, wird die
erneute Anmeldung zunächst unterlassen [5]
Zu diesem Zweck wird die DVD eingelegt und die setup.exe für die
Diamond DA20-100 Katana 4X
gestartet, als Installationssprache "English" ausgewählt und die Installation der Version 1.03a gestartet. [6]
Aber die Installation wird nicht durchgeführt, da als Voraussetzung zumindest das erste ServicePack für den
FlightSimulatorX vorausgesetzt wird.
Gefragt wird nach der "Serial key" #, diese wird eingegeben und diese Eingabe als "successful" bestätigt.

Danach werden die Installationsdaten nochmals abgefragt [7] und das Gleiche nochmals versucht. Und dieses Mal
erfolgreich.
Danach wird aber im Download-Center nach den Service-Packs gesucht und diese werden nacheinander
heruntergelanden:
— fsx_sp1_ENU
— fsx_sp2_ENU.msi [8]
Die Einstellunge für die Anzeige der Ordner und Files werden so geändert, dass diese immer auch mit den Namen
ihrer Extensions, also zum Beispiel . msi oder .exe angezeigt werden. Danach wird der Rechner neu gestartet.
Installiert wird zunächst nur das Update auf das ServicePack 1.
Über die Hompage wird nun die Rubrik "Product Information" aufgerufen, und unter "Features" die Rubrik "Aircraft"
aktiviert. Dort finden sich auch Fluggeräte, dass schon aus der eigenen Praxis bekannt ist, vom UltraLight bid hin zur
Mooney, Cessna und zur Piper.
Die Kanana wird aber in dieser Liste noch nicht aufgeführt.
Also wird nochmals die aeroSOFT-DVD eingespielt, die Software über die "Repair"-Funktion nochmals eingespielt.
Und danach auch das Microsoft Flight Simulator ServicePack 2 Setup und "successfully" ausgeführt. [9]
In der zuvor aufgerufenen Übersicht ist dieses Modell nach wie vor nicht aufzufinden. Aber beim Aufrufen des "FREE
FLIGHT" Moduls gibt es einen neue Rubrik "Diamond Austria" und dort findet sich auch die nunmehr installierte
Katana! [10]

One of the new features in Flight Simulator X that has generated the most questions (not to mention the most active speculation) is product
activation. In previous versions of Flight Simulator, the copy protection scheme required that you left one of the Flight Simulator CD-ROMs in your
drive whenever you wanted to use the product. Unfortunately, this meant that if you lost the disc, or it was damaged, you were out of luck. In
addition, there were certain hardware combinations that wouldn't read the disc correctly, as well as other issues that frustrated our customers. In
fact, one of the most common user requests we've received over the years is that we eliminate this requirement altogether.
Well, we did!
For Flight Simulator X, we've taken our cue from Microsoft Windows and Office, and moved to a one-time product activation scheme that verifies
your installationthen leaves you alone.
Our Product Support team has written a Knowledge Base article that takes you through the process step-by-step, and answers the most common
questions.

[8] Service Pack 2 does not include the code updates required to use the new Flight Simulator X: Acceleration aircraft. You must purchase and
install Flight Simulator X: Acceleration to use those aircraft. After you have installed Service Pack 2, you will be able to play multiplayer games
only with users who have installed either Service Pack 2 or Flight SimulatorX: Acceleration.

When installing FSX Service Pack 2, you might see this message: "Microsoft Flight Simulator X Service Pack 2 requires the English version of
Flight Simulator X."
So far, the immediate cause is the same: missing data in the registry. During testing, the root cause was also the same: Copying the installed files
from another partition or machine rather than using the installer. That's not officially supported, of course, but given the size of Flight Simulator, it's
fairly common to want to move the installed files (to a bigger partition, for example) without reinstalling.

"ASC.DLL" und zwei weitere Funktionen ausgeführt. Und das Ding läuft. Es brummt. Und kann geflogen werden.
