TENNIS
Für die sportlichen Mitglieder: Wir trefen uns
um 8 Uhr im ACR Sport Zentrum in Neubrück
und spielen bis 10 Uhr Tennis. Danach gibt es
erstmal Kafee und Konversation. Danach kann
man die Sauna (für Tennisspieler kostenfrei)
genießen. Mehr Infos kriegt ihr von Jürgen

For all you sporty types: we meet at the ACR
Sports Centre in Neubrück at 8 and play tennis
until 10. Then we have a cofee and a chat.
Then you can continue to the sauna (free for
players) or a beergarden. Ask Jürgen for more

Am ersten Februar sehen wir uns die
Geschichte eines großartigen Mannes an. Wir
trefen uns im Metropolis und sehen den Film
im englischen Originalton. Medet euch dafür
im Club an und wir geben euch Zeit und Trefpunkt durch. Mindestteilnehmerzahl:
5 Personen.
On the frst of February we are of to see this
epic story about a great man in the original
English version at the Metropolis cinema. Sign

SHORT STORY SOIREE
Für die, die es noch nicht wissen: Der erste
Donnerstag im Monat ist im Overseas der
Abend der Literatur und des Gelächters. Bringt
eine Kurzgeschichte oder ein Gedicht mit, das
ihr gefunden oder besser noch selbst
geschrieben habt und lest es uns vor. Oder
kommt vorbei, trinkt ein Bier oder zwei und
hört einfach zu. Das wird ein toller Abend.
For those of you who don't know, the frst
Thursday of the month is a night of literature
and laughter. Bring along a short story or poem
that you have written or found and read it
aloud. Or just come and have a beer or two and
listen. It will be a good night.

Diesmal geht's mit Jürgen rheinab und
rheinauf. Dabei erzählt er etwas zur Geschichte
der Kölner Brücken zwischen Mülheim und
Rodenkirchen. Voraussichtliche Einkehr im
Schifrestaurant 'Altliebe'.
This time Jürgen is taking you down the Rhine
(and back up again) and telling you about the
history of Cologne's bridges from Mülheim to
Rodenkirchen. He plans to stop on the boat
restaurant 'Altliebe' for refreshments.

THE REAL VALENTINE'S DAY
Es geht nicht um kitschige Herzen, Rosen und
überteuerte Karten. Eigentlich geht es doch
nur um Liebe. Wenn es jemanden gibt, den ihr
gern oder lieb habt, zeigt es! Nicht mit
materiellen Aufmerksamkeiten sondern mit
aufrichtigen und liebevollen Gesten. Oder
indem ihr eure Freizeit verschenkt. Wir werden
unseren Lieben selbstgemachte Gutscheine
für”quality time” im Club schenken. Ihr könnt
euch gerne anschließen. Bringt eure Lieben
mit und hört euch mit uns die schönsten
Liebes lieder an!
It is not about heaps of hearts or roses or
overpriced greeting cards. It is about love. All
kinds of love. If there is someone you love,
whether romantically, platonically or however
else, show them! Not with material things but
with small but meaningful signs of afection. Or
with your time. We will be listening to love
songs and giving each other homemade
vouchers for quality time in the Club this
Valentine's day if you would like to join us.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE MEETUP
Die Gruppe “Thursday Night Drinks Cologne”
trift sich einmal die Woche in einer der Kölner
Bars um Englisch zu sprechen und das ein
oder anderes Bier zu trinken. Am 20. sind sie
bei uns. Wenn ihr Interesse daran habt,
Englisch zu sprechen und ein leckeres
Getränk zu genießen, seid ihr herzlich eingeladen, euch der Gruppe anzuschließen. Aber
seid gewarnt: Die Gruppe wird wahrscheinlich
Karnevalslieder üben.
The group 'Thursday Night Drinks Cologne'
meets once a week to speak English and drink
in diferent bars in Cologne. On the 20 th they
will be in the Club, speaking English and
drinking. Anyone who is interested in either of
those pursuits is welcome to join them but be
warned: they may be practising carnival songs.

Zwei Stunden lang nur Deutsch sprechen. Kein
Englisch. Es wird nicht geschummelt. Nette
Muttersprachler korrigieren und erklären.
Two hours of German. No English. No cheating.
Kind native speakers will help with corrections
and explanations.

EXHIBITION: MICHAEL JÄGER
'EINSZUMANDEREN'
Michael Jäger zeigt in der artothek eine Serie
großformatiger, eigens für den Raum
geschafener Bilder. Dabei handelt es sich um
farbige Acrylmalerei auf Plexiglas, die,
abgesehen von ihrem ungewöhnlichen Träger
eine weitere Besonderheit aufweist. Das, was
zunächst sichtbar ist, wurde auch zuerst
gemalt, es ist sozusagen das ‚untere zu oberst’
gewendet, denn die Malerei verbirgt sich
hinter dem Glas.
Michael Jäger's series of oversize paintings
were created especially for this exhibition. The
artworks, created with acrylic paints on glass,
are not just remarkable in their nonconventional choice of canvas, but also in the
fact that what you see frst was also painted
frst. In a way, they are 'inside out' as the paint
is behind the glass.

usual carnival madness: costumes, lots of drink
