Age at death of male vs. female doctors in West Berlin and the West German
county Hessen in the years 1964-76. - For my M.D. thesis I carried out a
statistical analysis and I reviewed the literature on male and female morbidity
and mortality in different occupational groups.
During my time at the Dept. of Psychiatry at Berlin Free University I rated the
mental state of patients participating in drug trials.
Side effects on the child of psychoactive drugs ingested during pregnancy and
breast feeding. - I reviewed the literature repeatedly since 1980 and have
given several talks on this topic.
The impact of infertility on marital and sexual relationship of couples attending
an infertility clinic as compared to couples attending the family planning clinic
at the same hospital. - This was my MPhil-project.
I participated in studying mothering behaviour in women admitted with their
babies to a psychiatric hospital.
From 1985 – 1993, I was involved in a longitudinal multidisciplinary study of
children born to epileptic parents. I have interviewed mothers of six year old
subjects about family life, parenting, marriage, social situation, and parental
health with the Past History Schedule, the Present State Examination and
another semi-standardised interview.
1985-1995 member of the German speaking classification group who
prepared and evaluate the child psychiatry section of the 10th edition of the
International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10) for the WHO.
I have studied the impact of maternal age on child mental health in a clinical
sample.
1993-2001 project leader of the German group involved in a treatment
evaluation study on bulimia nervosa in collaboration with the Institute of
Psychiatry/London.
Also with the Eating Disorders Research Group of the Institute of
Psychiatry/London I have written a review on aids to self treatment.
With diploma students I have carried out a study on the prevalence of eating
disorders in dental patients.
With diploma students I have carried out a study on the prevalence of eating
disorders in social work students.
1999 - 2000, guest scientist of the Clinical Psychology and Epidemiology
research group (leader - Hans-Ulrich Wittchen) at the Max-Planck-Institute for
Psychiatry/Munich. I have been involved there with the Early Developmental
Stages of Psychopathology (ESDP) Study.
Michael Linden and I have analysed data regarding the epidemiology of
neuroleptic prescriptions for disorders other than schizophrenia.
