Lotte Reiniger
Lotte Reiniger, geboren am 2. Juni 1899 in Berlin, arbeitete schon
als Studentin mit Silhouetten und Schattentheater. Durch frühe Filme von Paul
Wegener beeindruckt, wollte sie Schauspielerin werden und besuchte die MaxReinhardt-Schule am Deutschen Theater Berlin. Reiniger arbeitete mit Bertold Brecht
und Erwin Piscator zusammen, vor allem aber gilt sie als Pionierin des
Silhouettenfilms. 1922 schuf Lotte Reiniger ihren ersten Märchenfilm „Cinderella“.
Von 1923 bis 1926 arbeitete Lotte Reiniger in Potsdam mit Carl Koch, Walther
Ruttmann, Berthold Bartosch, an ihrem berühmtesten Werk, dem bezaubernden und
poetischen Animationsfilm „Die Abenteuer des Prinzen Achmed.“
Der Film gilt als erster abendfüllender Trickfilm der deutschen Filmgeschichte.

Lotte Reiniger, born 2 June 1899 in Berlin, has worked as a student with silhouettes
and shadow theater. Impressed by early films of Paul Wegener, she wanted to be an
actress and attended the Max Reinhardt School at the Deutsches Theater Berlin.
Reiniger worked with Bertold Brecht and Erwin Piscator, but above all she is
considered a pioneer of silhouette films. 1922 Lotte Reiniger created her first fairytale
"Cinderella."
From 1923 to 1926 Lotte Reiniger produced her most famous work with Carl Koch,
Walther Ruttmann and Berthold Bartosch, the charming and poetic animation film
"The Adventures of Prince Achmed."
The film is considered the first feature-length animated film of the German film
history.

Renaud Garcia-Fons
Renaud Garcia-Fons wurde 1962 in der Nähe von Paris geboren, die
Eltern stammen aus der Region Katalonien im Nordosten von Spanien, Er erlernt
bereits im Alter von fünf Jahren Klavier und klassische Gitarre. Als junger Mann
studierte Kontrabass am Pariser Konservatorium für Musik
Er wurde Privatschüler von François Rabbath, und durch ihn gewann er ein profundes
Wissen über den Kontrabass sowie eine Einführung in die
syrischen Wurzeln der Kompositionen Rabbath's.
Als Mitglied des Orchestre des Contrebasses und später des Orchestre
National de Jazz unter der Regie von Claude Barthélémy wurde sein Wissen über Jazz
und Improvisation vertieft. Er kam in direkten Kontakt mit vielen
führenden europäischen und US-amerikanischer Jazz-Musiker. Die Kunst der
Improvisation wurde zu einem zentralen Element in seiner künstlerischen Vision.
Es gibt mehrere Quellen für seine musikalische Inspiration: Garcia-Fons fühlt sich der
Flamenco Tradition nahe, die er für den Kontrabass umgesetzt hat, ebenso
wie der Musik des Mittelmeers und des Orients.
Parallel zu seiner Karriere als Musiker arbeitet Garcia-Fons als Komponist und
nimmt Kompositionsaufträge an.
Auf der Scène Nationale de Sceaux im Oktober 2004 präsentierte er Kammermusik,
ein Stück für Streichquartett, Kontrabass und zwei Instrumente östlichen Ursprungs:
der Bansuri, einer Flöte, die in der nordindischen Musik wichtig ist, und der Riq,
einem kleinen Tamburin ausgestattet mit Becken, das in der arabischen Musik von
Bedeutung ist.
Ein Auftragswerk für das jährliche Entente Franco Ecossaise bot ihm Gelegenheit,
zusammen mit Künstlern aus verschiedenen Welten zusammen zu arbeiten.. Aus
diesem Anlaß komponiert Renaud ein Stück in fünf Sätzen für sein Trio und sieben
Solisten aus dem Scottish Chamber Orchestra Tutti orchestral sequences. Garcia-Fons
und das Orchester haben die Arbeit Ende Oktober 2004 uraufgeführt und im darauf
folgenden Monat in Frankreich beim Festival de la Côte d'Opale und am Grand
Théâtre de Dijon erneut zur Aufführung gebracht.

Renaud Garcia-Fons was born in 1962 near Paris to parents from the Catalonia region
of northeastern Spain, and was introduced to music at age five, taking up the piano and
classical guitar. As a young man, he studied the
double bass at the Paris Conservatory of Music, performing in its orchestras
and refining his knowledge of music theory and performance.
He also became the private student of François Rabbath, and through him
gained a profound knowledge of the double bass as well as an introduction to
the Syrian roots of Rabbath's compositions.
As a member of the Orchestre des Contrebasses and later of the Orchestre
National de Jazz directed by Claude Barthélémy, his knowledge of jazz and
improvisation deepened, and brought him into direct contact with many
leading European and American jazz musicians. The art of improvisation
became a central element in his artistic vision.
There are multiple sources for his musical inspiration ˆ he feels as close
to the Flamenco tradition, which he has transposed for the double bass, as
to the music of the Mediterranean and Orient.
In parallel with his career as a performer, Renaud has worked as a composer,
fulfilling commissions as well as his desire to broaden the repertoire of
his performing ensembles. At the Scene Nationale de Sceaux in October 2004, he
presented World Chamber Music, a piece for string quartet, double bass, and two
instruments of Eastern origin: the bansuri, a flute prominent in northern Indian music;
and the riq, a small tambourine equipped with cymbals that is played in all Arab
music. A commission for the anniversary of the Entente Franco-Ecossaise offered
another opportunity to bring together artists of different worlds. For this occasion
Renaud composed a piece in five movements for his trio and seven soloists from the
Scottish Chamber Orchestra Tutti orchestral sequences. Renaud and the Orchestra
gave the work's premiere in late October 2004 and, the following month, performed it
in France at the Festival de la Côte d'Opale and at the Grand Théâtre de Dijon.

la Catalogne dans le Nord-Espagne, il a appris à l'âge de cinq ans de piano et guitare
classique. Comme un jeune homme Renaud Garcia-Fons étudie la contrebasse au
Conservatoire de Musique de Paris.
Il était un élève privé de Alice Rivlin, et à travers lui acquis une connaissance
profonde de la contrebasse, ainsi qu'une introduction à la Syrienne racines de la
composition Rabbath's.
En tant que membre de l'Orchestre des Contrebasses et plus tard de l'Orchestre
National de Jazz dirigé par Claude Barthélémy, il a approfondi sa connaissance du jazz
et l'improvisation. Il entra en contact direct avec des nombreuses
principaux musiciens de jazz européens et américains. L'art de l'improvisation est
devenue un élément central de sa vision artistique.
Il existe plusieurs sources de son inspiration musicale: Garcia-Fons sent la tradition du
flamenco, dont il a mis en œuvre pour la basse, si proche
comme la musique de la Méditerranée et l'Orient.
Parallèlement à sa carrière de musicien Garcia-Fons travaille comme compositeur et

chambre, une pièce pour quatuor à cordes, contrebasse et deux instruments d'origine
orientale: le bansuri, une flûte, qui est importante dans la musique indienne du nord et
la riq, un petit tambourin important pour la music de L'Arabe.
Une œuvre commandée à l'Entente franco annuel Ecossaise lui donna l'occasion á la
collaboration avec des artistes d'univers différents. A cette occasion, Renaud GarciaFons a composé une pièce en cinq mouvements pour son trio, et sept solistes de l'Tutti
Scottish Chamber Orchestra Tutti orchestral séquences. Garcia-Fons et l'orchestre a
joué en première à la fin des travaux Octobre 2004 et le mois suivant en France au
Festival de la Côte d'Opale et le Grand Théâtre de Dijon à nouveau porté à l'émission.
