“…at the very beginning of the century he [Hart] set out for
Germany to study under the famous biochemist, Albrecht Kossel, who
was then at Marburg. After a year Professor Kossel moved to
Heidelberg and Hart accompanied him. Because of this transfer he
was prevented from obtaining a higher degree.”

Email communication with Lars Peter Hansen (3 Feb 2002)
“I am the youngest son of Roger Gaurth Hansen. He was always
fond of Roger Bretthauer and proud of the work he did.”
“My father passed away just a few days ago. My father received
his Ph.D. degree 1948 from the University of Wisconsin. His advisor
was P. H. Phillips. I believe the P stands for Paul. I do not know who
Phillips' advisor was, but Henry Lardy at the University of Wisconsin
might know. My father's first published papers were with Lardy and
Phillips.”
