Common Ortsippenbuch (OSB) Symbols and Terms
OSBs use symbols to designate specific events or pertinent information. Each book uses similar symbols for birth,
marriage, death, etc. However, each book may add other details and occupation information. The information in this
document will help you understand many of the basic records.
