Sognefjord in a nutshell
The Sognefjord is Norway’s longest and deepest fjord and stretches more than
200 km inwards to the foot of the Jotunheimen Mountain. The dramatic and
friendly landscape claims to be one of the most beautiful travel destinations
in the world. You travel by express boat along the coast and up the Sognefjord
to Flåm, and continue with the spectacular Flåm Railway and the Bergen
Railway back to Bergen. This tour can be taken in either direction.

The 179 km long Hardangerfjord provides natural landscapes that are

Experience the Magic
See the fjord and the mountains at their most magical
– a round trip by boat and bus into the heart of scenic
Norway. A boat trip up a narrow fjord surrounded by steep

Hiking and biking in Norwegian
footsteps
An active round-trip filled with Norwegian history, nature and culture.
In Matre we visit the Bjørn West Museum before we follow in the footsteps of
this war-resistance group. The breathtaking steps “Stegane” take us from the
deep valley to the wide mountains. Dinner is served at
Stordalen Fjellstove, before we return on bike down the
valley to Matre. From Matre you take the bus to Bergen
again, or you can peak the trip by a fast RIB-boat on the
fjord, and return to Bergen.

Spectacular Lærdal and
the Sognefjord
Travel from Bergen through the dramatic valley of
Nærøydalen to the historic Gudvangen, then through the
Unesco World Heritage site Nærøyfjorden to Lærdal in the inner parts of
the Sognefjord. Return by comfortable express coaches. If you wish to stay a
night or two in Lærdal, you may travel by boat through the full length of the
Sognefjord to Flåm, and then continue to Lærdal, returning later through
Nærøyfjord and Nærøydalen to Bergen. In the tranquil municipality of Lærdal
visit the Wild Salmon Centre and the Sogn Art Centre, do a guided walk in
the old town of Lærdalsøyri, and visit local farms, as well as the famous
Borgund Stave church. You may also explore the nature and the mountains
on numerous paths and trails, such as the historic postal route.

Coast, Fjords, Waterfalls
and Glacier – Tour Suggestion
Sunnhordland is a region of contrasts and great variety. This is a fantastic
round trip from Bergen, where you will see skerries, islands and fjords from
the road and from ferries. Rent a car or use your own.
Explore the fascinating islands of Austevoll, Fitjar, Stord and Bømlo.
On the road to Bømlo, there are two suspension bridges that provide
wonderful views of fjords and mountains. The island of Bømlo has an
important place in Norwegian history. The trip continues to Etne and the
Åkrafjord - with steep mountains and the majestic Langfoss waterfall.
From the Åkrafjord, you pass the famous Låtefoss twin waterfalls.
Folgefonna is Norway´s third largest glacier, and it is a short walk from
Sundal to the Bondhusbreen glacier (1.2 km). Furebergfossen waterfall in
Kvinnherad is also a wonderful sight. The village of Rosendal is situated by
the Hardangerfjord - called the ´Queen of the Norwegian fjords´. Rosendal
is surrounded by beautiful mountains, and there are great opportunities for
hiking, cycling and other activities. On the way back to Bergen, the route
crosses the island of Tysnes, where the Hardangerfjord meets the ocean.

Fyksesund is a beautiful narrow arm of the
Hardanger fjord, 2 hours by bus from Bergen.
Here you can experience well-kept cultural
and impressive fjord landscapes, while
discovering a lively local culture. Hiking on
marked trails through orchards, farms and
mountain areas and fjord trips to Botnen,
a village inaccessible by road, starting from
Steinstø.

Flåmsbana – The Flåm Railway
– WORLD CLASS TRAIN JOURNEY
The Flåm Railway is the unique train journey between Flåm by the Sognefjord
and the mountain station Myrdal on the Bergen Railway. The Flåm Railway
is open all year round, and corresponds with most day trains on the Oslo –
Bergen Line. During its 20 kilometer journey, the Flåm Railway climbs an
amazing 865 meters, and is widely recognized
as one of the steepest and most beautiful
