– As of today concerning mechanical
Gearboxes and Electric Drive Systems
(Bottom Center Positioned). Different
gearboxes which are bottom center
positioned in a bicycle frame do need
different frames with a mounting plate
which is customized to the respective
gearbox case and which is fix
integrated in the frame. This does
limiting strongly most OEM concerning
their choise of gearboxes – with or
without electrical support. Thus the
OEM has to plan long time in advance
the number of their bike models with
mechanical gearbox (f.e. Pinion, etc.)
or with e-bike drive (f.e. Bosch,
Shimano, Yamaha, etc.). Since most
bottom center positioned gearboxes
and electric drives need different
frames, the lead time for it is extremly
long and for Purchase Managers it is
correspondingly difficult to order the
right frames in time which come close
to a feat. Solution Designer and
Developer Andy Muff
(www.isa-system.ch) addressed this
problem and developed a solution to
customise the different gearbox cases
for one and same transmission cradle
on different frames which eliminates
or reduces drasticly the above
mentioned problem. This way it will be
possible for OEMs to offer a bigger
selection of bottom center positioned
gearbox cases and to reduce drasticly
the logistic/warehousing and on same
time the lead time.

integrated gear changing with
new features
With eShift and NuVinci H|Sync,
eBikers can choose between
automatic gearing based on their
cadence and gears set manually that
come with pre-set gearing. There used
to be five fixed increments; now there
are nine. New within the Shimano
solution is Auto Down Shift: If the
cyclist stops, the system switches
automatically to a fixed, predefined
starter gear. The SRAM option
(DualDrive hub) now comes with a
manual mode.
