BALTHASAR ANTON DUNKER Saal near Stralsund 1746 - 1807 Bern Swiss mountain scene, with walking couple and goats. Watercolour with pen-and-ink in grey, 1775. Signed „(D)uncker“ and dated. Verso original markings. On wove paper with cut watermark: large crowned coat of arms with rising lion.1 27.8 x 21.8 cm. With small restored damages. Verso with only weakly distinguishable sketch in black chalk (Holy family). With non-identifiable collectors mark on the back. On strong teinted laid paper. 17.8 x 16.5 cm. With weak fading marks. In his assessment from 3rd September 2009 to the drawing at hand, George Knox wrote: „Thus the drawing must be identified as a rare and interesting, typical and characteristic preparatory study by the hand of Sebastiano Ricci, dated probably to the last quinquennium of his life“. Pen-and-ink drawing in brown ink with pencil over delicate pencil squared paper, 1812. Dated verso, site marked „Padova“ and marked „Cadaglia alla Badoglia“ as well as with small pencil study (Angels head). Attributed originally „Schäffer Giovani“ (sic!) as well as with a handwritten Italian text. On brownish laid paper. 22.7 x 30.2 cm. Mildly stained. Provenance: Collection W. Allegorical female figure with palette and paintbrush, floating on the back of a winged griffin, surrounded by floral borders with artist‘s portraits. Illustration draft. Watercolour with pen-and-ink and pencil. Signed and marked „Ernst ist das Leben - Heiter die Kunst“.1 On strong laid paper. 37.5 x 50.3 cm. Partially dusty and marginally stained. Illustration draft. Gold-heightened watercolour with pen-and-ink, 1864. Signed and multiply dated „1864“, „d. 24 Decb. 1864“ and „den 14.Sept.“ as well as marked „Album“ and with the first line of the bride song of the poet L. Uhland. JOHANN HEINRICH WILHELM TISCHBEIN, named GOETHE-TISCHBEIN Haina 1751 - 1829 Eutin Madonna and the infant Jesus with St. Elizabeth and the infant John (The Medici-Madonna). Partially white-heightened watercolour with drawing in brown pen after a painting of Andrea del Sarto. Marked in pencil. Verso with estate stamp and collectors mark in brown ink „C.I, 30.“ (not in Lugt).1 On laid paper. Depiction: 41.2 x 28.6 cm (sheet including the applicated painted paper-frame: 51.8 x 38.4 cm). Marginal brown staining and with needle marks in the corners. Provenance: Collection of the Grand Dukes of Oldenburg. Drawings by J. H. W. PHILIPP VEIT Berlin 1793 - 1877 Mainz Scuffling Italian boys and old lady. Pencil drawing 1840. Suhr ZV 60 (there marked as lost).1 Monogrammed (ligated) and dated. On strong chamois coloured wove paper. 35.7 x 26.8 cm. Edges slightly browned. Provenance: Collection G. Engelbrecht (Hamburg), C. Heumann (Leipzig) and A. O. Boerner auction catalogue CXXIII, Leipzig, 16-18th May 1914, number 841. Arnold Otto Meyer (1825 - 1913) was a businessman from Hamburg and inherited from his grandfather J. V. Meyer drawings from famous artists of the 18th Century. He expanded the collection with works by contemporary artists. Meyer knew many of the artists from the Romantic Era personally; he was particularly close to J. Schnorr von Carolsfeld, A. L. On teinted wove paper. 30.6 x 42 cm. Edges verso with minimal glue remnants. The watercolour at hand was shown in 2010/11 in the exhibition „Venedig - Bilder in der deutschen Kunst des 19.
