Renfe AVE S 112
Spain High speed Renfe AVE S 112 High Speed Powerhead Bombardier Transportation, together with its consortium partner Patentes Talgo, has received an additional order from the Spanish State Railways, RENFE, for the delivery of 30 AVE S 112 high speed train-sets. They will be deployed on all high speed lines in Spain. A train-set typically consists of two powerheads and 12 coaches. This order follows an earlier one in 2001, with which RENFE initially placed an order for 16 high speed trainsets. Bombardier Transportation delivers the entire electrical equipment and bogies for all powerheads. The propulsion system of a powerhead consists of the highvoltage equipment, an oil-cooled transformer, two identical and completely independent water-cooled IGBT power converters, and four traction motors. A regenerative and rheostatic brake is provided as the electric brake. The Locomotives supply of the auxiliaries and of the trainline is via two identical and fully redundant static inverters integrated into the power converters. Renfe AVE S 112 High Speed Powerhead All the control and communications functions are handled by the Bombardier* MITRAC* control system. The train is equipped with 3 different ATP systems. ETCS is used on all the new high speed lines, while linear train control (LZB) is installed on the Madrid – Seville line. The fallback level for both systems is to be Spain’s ASFA200 ATP system.
