Strictly Liturgy
The Worship Commission has begun the task
of trying to educate our community in Liturgy and
the etiquette that helps all to worship as one body.
Throughout the year I will be offering bulletin
articles to help inform and invite us to a fuller
celebration of the Mass as an assembly gathered in
worship and prayer.
Therefore,
beginning
the
weekend
of
June 13/14, we will no longer be making
announcements at Mass. Certainly there may be an
exception or two, but this will be decided by the
Presider. Any announcements will happen after the
Communion Rite.
The reason for this is as follows: The
announcements made before the beginning of Mass
are not being heard by all. Those who arrive late
create such a ruckus that the announcements are
interrupted. And those who arrive even after the
Mass has begun never hear the announcements at
all.

St. Andrew provides various ways to inform all of its activities. The parish bulletin, the screens in the narthex ,
the parish website and the “parish app” are all ways to stay informed. This also means that the committees and
commissions need to be more proactive in getting their news out as well. And of course, there is our personal
responsibility of being informed. With few exceptions, there will no longer be any appeals made by parishioners
from the ambo.
Mass intentions will now become part of our Prayers of the Faithful or General Intercessions. It is at this place
and time in the Liturgy where we should consciously be praying for all intentions. If flowers are being provided in
memory of someone or for some special occasion, this will be listed in the current weekend’s bulletin. As for
welcoming the gathered assembly, the Presider will welcome all and invite all to stand and welcome those around
them. Our hope is that this will provide a smoother flow and prayerful respect due the Liturgy.

Music Director to lead the St. Andrew Contemporary
Group.

CSSW Hustle for Hope
Bust out your crimping iron and pop up those collars!
Catholic Social Services of Washtenaw is hosting the Hustle
for Hope, a totally ‘80s fun-run and walk to benefit the
Washtenaw Child Advocacy Center (WCAC) and Healthy
Families program serving at-risk children in our
community. You can raise money as an individual, team, or
family, or just register to fun-run! There will be awesome
activities for everyone. Dogs are welcome and we
encourage you to rock your rad ‘80s attire.
