The Cardinals’ struggles on the road
continued Wednesday, as SMU dropped
its seventh straight road game with an
80-76 loss at Hamline. … St. Thomas
erupted for 55 second-half points —
seven short of the Cardinals' total for the game — as the
Tommies pushed their winning streak to 36 straight over the
Cardinals with a 98-62 win in the teams’ first meeting this
season. … Brensley Haywood scored a team-high 16 points
vs. Hamline on Wednesday, marking the second straight
game in which the SMU junior has been the team-leading in
points. … Haywood, Terrence Smith (14 points), Fiore
Buccieri (12), Michael Rohr (12) and Dan Cormier (10)
accounted for 64 of SMU’s 76 points vs. Hamline. … SMU
attempted a season-low one free throw (0-for-1) in its loss
vs. Hamline. … The Cardinals loss at Hamline — their seventh straight setback on the road — dropped their record to
2-11 away from home. … Wednesday’s loss to the Pipers
extended the Cardinals’ losing streak to a season-high four
straight. … SMU’s 76 points vs. the Pipers marked the third
time this season the Cardinals have scored 70 or more

Thomas secured an MIAC top-two playoff seed with and 84-67 victory over
Bethel Wednesday. … St. Thomas
erupted for 55 second-half points — seven short of the
Cardinals' total for the game — as the Tommies pushed their
winning streak to 36 straight over the Cardinals with a 98-62
win in the teams’ first meeting this season. … The Tommies
have had seven victories where they led by 30 or more
points. … The Tommies have secured an MIAC playoff berth
for the 18th time in 19 seasons. … The Tommies have
played in the playoff finals 11 of the last 17 seasons. UST is
5-0 in its last five playoff semifinal trips (1998, 2000, 2002,
