OCAD AG/Ltd. provides information about its current activities, projects
and events with the OCAD NEWSLETTER 2.
*** OCAD films
The collection of OCAD films on a whole variety of topics, such as GPS,
databases, Internet maps, etc., has now grown to include 50 titles, and is
constantly increasing. All of the films can be downloaded at

*** New employee
Thanks to brisk business OCAD AG/Ltd. has been able to expand its team. We
are pleased to welcome software engineer Hubert Klauser to the developer
team. He is reinforcing the team assembled around Gian-Reto Schaad and
Nazar Kotylo. OCAD AG/Ltd. now has a staff of 6.
*** OCAD / Windows Vista
OCAD was successfully tested under the new operating system Windows Vista.
Unfortunately, the Help feature no longer worked in conjunction with this
operating system, which is why the entire Help feature had to be completely
re-programmed. The Help feature for Windows Vista will be available in
Service Update 9.4.1.

*** OCAD 9 Service Update 9.4.1 (5.03.2007)
The latest service update can be downloaded at
http://www.ocad.com/en/downloads.htm . The DXF export now supports Bézier
curves, and the importing of AI files was improved upon. In addition, the
Help function can now be used with Windows Vista. You can see other
additions and improvements at http://www.ocad.com/en/UpdateOcad9.txt .
*** OCAD and UMPCs
Ultra Mobile Personal Computers (UMPCs) have been available on the market
for some time now. These computers are even smaller than subnotebooks, have
an approximately 20-cm (7-inch) TFT display and, similar to Tablet PCs, are
primarily operated via a touch screen or with a stylus. The operating
system is Windows XP.
OCAD AG/Ltd. tested the UMPC Samsung Q1, and OCAD ran on it without any
problems. Drawbacks still include the minimal battery power and
insufficient protection against moisture!

*** OCAD goes mobile
A group of students at the Hochschule für Technik und Informatik in Biel,
Switzerland developed a prototype for a mobile OCAD version as part of
their dissertation. The prototype runs on a PDA using the Windows CE
operating system, and it is currently being tested and evaluated for
further development. Following the evaluation, OCAD AG/Ltd. will decide
whether the prototype should be further developed.

*** OCAD Filme
Die Sammlung von OCAD-Filmen zu verschiedensten Themen, wie GPS,

*** Neuer Mitarbeiter
Dank des guten Geschäftsgangs der OCAD AG, kann sie ihr Team ausbauen. Es
freut uns, Hubert Klauser als Software-Ingenieur im Entwickler-Team zu
begrüssen. Er verstärkt das Team um Gian-Reto Schaad und Nazar Kotylo. Die
OCAD AG beschäftigt jetzt neu 6 Mitarbeitende.
*** OCAD / Windows Vista
OCAD wurde unter dem neuen Betriebssystem Windows Vista erfolgreich
getestet. Leider funktionierte die Hilfe unter diesem Betriebssystem nicht
mehr, weswegen die ganze Hilfe neu programmiert werden musste. Die Hilfe
für Windows Vista wird im Service Update 9.4.1 zur Verfügung stehen.

Unter http://www.ocad.com/de/downloads.htm kann das neuste Service Update
herunter geladen werden. Neu unterstützt der DXF-Export Bézier-Kurven und
der Import von AI-Dateien wurde verbessert. Zudem ist die Hilfe neu Windows
Vista tauglich. Weitere Ergänzungen und Verbesserungen sehen Sie unter

*** OCAD und UMPCs
Seit geraumer Zeit sind Ultra Mobil Personal Computer (UMPC) auf dem Markt
erhältlich. Diese Geräte sind noch kleiner als Subnotebooks, verfügen über
ein ca. 20 cm (7 Zoll) großes TFT-Display und werden, ähnlich wie TabletPCs, hauptsächlich über den berührungsempfindlichen Bildschirm oder mit
Stylus-Stiften bedient. Das Betriebssystem ist Windows XP.
Die OCAD AG testete den UMPC Samsung Q1. OCAD läuft darauf einwandfrei,
Nachteile sind noch die geringe Batterie-Leistung und mangelnder Schutz
gegen Nässe!

*** OCAD goes mobile
Eine Studentengruppe der Hochschule für Technik und Informatik in Biel,
Schweiz, hat in ihrer Diplomarbeit einen Prototyp für eine mobile OCADVersion entwickelt. Dieser läuft auf einem PDA unter dem Betriebssystem
Windows CE. Zurzeit wird der Prototyp getestet und die Weiterentwicklung
evaluiert. Die OCAD AG wird nach der Evaluation entscheiden, ob der
Prototyp weiterentwickelt werden soll.
