GORE BIKE WEAR® Outfit Systems – a natural step along the line of our philosophy
For us innovation always starts with a cyclists need. It began almost 30 years ago with a couple of inventive engineers and bike enthusiasts
within our company. After one too many chilly descents they decided that there had to be a better way than using old newspapers as
weather protection. Hence, the first legendary GORE-TEX® bike jacket – the GIRO jacket – was born.
This inquisitive culture and passion for cyclists and their needs fostered our successful Head-To-Toe and Skin-To-Shell thinking and
dedication to weather protection and temperature management. In that sense the GORE BIKE WEAR® Outfit Systems are a natural extension
of our heritage. On the following pages you can read more on how the Outfit System idea and performance adds up to be greater than the
sum of its parts.
Für uns beginnt Innovation immer mit dem konkreten Bedarf eines Radfahrers. Alles begann ungefähr vor 30 Jahren mit ein paar
fahrradverrückten Ingenieuren in unserem Unternehmen. Denn, nach einer eiskalten Rennrad-Abfahrt zu viel, war deren Erfindergeist
geweckt. Es musste doch einen besseren Weg geben als eine alte Zeitung als Wetter- und Windschutz unter das Trikot zu schieben: Und
aus diesem konkreten Bedarf entstand die erste GORE-TEX® Rennrad-Jacke – die legendäre GIRO Jacke.
Die Mischung aus Wissbegierde und Leidenschaft für den Bedarf des Radfahrers hat die erfolgreiche Entwicklung unser
Head-To-Toe und Skin-To-Shell Konzepte ebenso positiv beeinflusst wie unser tiefes Interesse an den Themen Wetterschutz und
Temperaturmanagement. In diesem Sinne ist das GORE BIKE WEAR® Outfit System eine logische Konsequenz aus unserer Geschichte.

Whether it’s for a Bike Park, technical single tracks or fast descents, the FUSION line offers outfit systems specially tailored to off road
requirements for all weather conditions. The Freeride line, which is geared to versatility and durability, is characterised by a high degree of
comfort and especially for technically demanding sections, optimised freedom of movement. Thanks to well-honed ventilation solutions,
extremely resistant and durable high-tech textiles and ergonomically positioned stretch inserts, cyclists can always fully concentrate on
the terrain. Abrasion-resistant materials in areas of friction and optimum workmanship ensure protection and durability without adversely
affecting comfort. Further characteristics of the FUSION line are generous, casual cuts, under which protectors will fit if necessary, plus
innovative design, contemporary colours and neon details. Well thought-out features such as integrated lens cloths, extended fold-out back
sections for splash protection and rucksack friendly pockets round off the collection.
In the FUSION line demanding single-trail mountain bikers will find outfit systems to fully meet their needs in terms of function, fit, design
and performance. The skin-to-shell and head-to-toe concepts form the basis of the outfit systems. Together they support the natural
regulation of body temperature, create a comfortable microclimate and help to improve athletes’ performance. Depending on personal

For autumn/winter 2013/14 GORE BIKE WEAR® has revised its successful POWER family. The clear, well-honed lines immediately catch
your eye. Cool colours and a fashionable, cut down look characterise these garments, which are accentuated by classical elements such as
brightly-coloured striped cuffs, colourful contrasting details and logo lettering. The whole family has been given a consistent design language
and important safety features such as integrated reflective prints.
In addition to a new look, the outfit systems in the bestseller line have been even better coordinated and expanded on. The POWER family
primarily targets the needs of aspiring weekend racing-bike aficionados who want to get the most out of each trip with their friends. With

Our Outfit System engineering derives from integrating two vital concepts; Head-To-Toe protection and Skin-To-Shell layering.
Head-To-Toe is all about protecting the parts of your body mostly submitted to heat loss, sweat production and dramatic
temperature variations. In other words, your head, hands and feet.
The second crucial part of our integrated system is Skin-To-Shell. Layering was first developed in mountaineering and military
clothing where weather conditions can be unpredictable and safety and operational effectiveness are critical. Its purpose is
to maintain a comfortable micro-climate that complements your body’s natural thermal regulation in varying activity levels
and weather conditions.

Head
As a critical body region, heat loss and sweat
production from the head will vary significantly
depending on the environment and activity level.
Hands
Skin temperatures vary the greatest in your hands
and feet, where body functions will manipulate
warm blood flow to the extremities to increase

Provides initial heat loss regulation for the body
and promotes the transport of moisture from your
skin. Keeps you dry and therefore also comfortable.
The thermo regulation layer is used to trap air, keeping
you warm. First and mid layers manage heat loss
together with your natural thermal regulation and help
your body control it’s temperature. Looser or thicker
layers trap more air, providing greater insulation.

Unsere Outfit Systementwicklung leitet sich ab aus der Integration zweier grundlegender Konzepte: Dem Head-To-Toe Konzept und dem
Skin-To-Shell Konzept.
Das Head-To-Toe Konzept sorgt dafür, dass die Körperteile, die eine besondere Rolle bei der Schweißproduktion, dem Wärmeverlust oder
bei extremen Temperaturschwankungen spielen, besonders geschützt werden: Mit anderen Worten: Der Kopf, die Hände und die Füße.
Der zweite bedeutende Teil des integrierten Outfit Systems ist das Skin-To-Shell Konzept. Das sogenannte “Layering-Prinzip” wurde
zunächst für den Bergsport und für Militär-Bekleidung entwickelt, denn in diesen Bereichen sind Wetterbedingungen schlecht
vorhersehbar und es spielen Sicherheit aber auch die Fähigkeit, jederzeit einsatzbereit sein zu müssen eine entscheidende Rolle. Der
Sinn und Zweck des Skin-To-Shell Konzeptes ist, ein komfortables Mikro-Klima zu schaffen, das den Körper bei unterschiedlichsten
körperlichen Aktivitäten und wechselnden Wetterbedingungen in der natürlichen Regulierung der Körpertemperatur unterstützt.

Ein kritischer Körperbereich, denn Wärmeverlust und
Schweißproduktion am Kopf variieren sehr stark, je

Mittlere Schicht | Thermo-Regulation
Äussere Schicht | Wetterschutz
Die temperaturregulierende Schicht schließt Luft im
Inneren ein und hält dadurch warm. Die erste und mittlere Schicht steuern gemeinsam mit der körpereigenen
Temperatur-Regulation den Wärmeverlust und helfen so,
die Körpertemperatur zu regulieren. Lockere oder dickere
Schichten schließen mehr Luft ein und isolieren deshalb
besser.
Atmungsaktive Funktionsstoffe schützen das Mikro-Klima
der darunter liegenden Schichten vor Regen, Schnee
und Wind. Unsere System-Technologie erlaubt optimale
Atmungsaktivität, Wetterschutz und ergonomischen Komfort, um die Leistungsfähigkeit des Körpers zu steigern.

Wettersituation optimal im System-Zusammenspiel
zu funktionieren.
