GUARANTEE - Graves is committed to satisfying our customers. Graves Company guarantees that every item you purchase from us is free
from defects in material and/or workmanship. If you receive an item that does not meet your requirements or specifications, simply return the
unused or defective item within 14 days for exchange, credit or refund - your choice. Graves also provides an unconditional product guarantee
for parts and labor on all machinery and electronic equipment for 6 months from date of purchase. This warranty does not include any incidental
or consequential expenses incurred by the purchaser. No other warranty is implied.
Shipping Charges - All orders are shipped
FOB Pompano Beach, Florida. The customer
is responsible for freight costs. Whenever
possible, we will utilize UPS standard rates.
Requested specials such as 1 day or 2 day
air, or express mail will be charged at exact
rates plus a handling charge. Graves charges
a 10% restocking fee on all refused C.O.D.
shipments.
Payment Terms
Open Accounts. Credit terms are only
extended to large business accounts and
qualified Graves dealers. If applying for such
payment terms, please allow 3 to 4 weeks
after receipt of required credit information for
processing.

We normally ship orders complete within 24
hours of receipt of order except if paid by check

Dealers - Graves maintains a world-wide
dealer network to help you in the selection of
the proper Graves equipment and supplies for

have some machines in stock or can obtain a

Direct Purchases - Graves recognizes that
occasionally a dealer may not be located near
your place of residence, therefore, we will sell
direct to individual consumers. Sales will be at
the current price of the item under our standard
terms and conditions. It is important that the
proper shipping details are supplied to us so
that packages can be delivered in a timely manner and you avoid incurring charges because
of “undeliverable packages”

Occasionally merchandise prepaid by check
may not be exactly the charges incurred. This
mainly occurs due to calculations on freight
charges. In order to avoid unnecessary delays,
it is our policy on differentials less than $5.00 to
ship the items with an invoice as the shipping
label, indicating the amount due Graves.
Since this policy is to provide the customer with
the required items in a timely fashion we appreciate prompt payment when the merchandise is
received. In the case that you feel that the price
was more than you were willing to spend, you
may return the item(s) as outlined in our Guarantee Policy for exchange, credit or refund.
Over payments are credited to your account
(and will also be indicated on the invoice). This
credit can be used to offset future orders or we
will upon your request refund any amount in
excess of $1.00.
Charge Cards- One of the most convenient
methods of paying for items is to use your Mastercard, Visa or American Express card. Items
paid for with credit card and returned for credit,
will be credited through the charge card system.
Return Procedure - For any item that you
desire to return, please include a copy of the
original invoice, indicate the item being returned, reason for the return, and any action
you wish us to take, such as repair, replace,
credit or refund. If you desire a refund we ask
that you allow at least two weeks after receipt of
products for clearance of paper work. Returned
items should be sent Postage Paid and Insured
for their replacement value. A handling charge
of 15% may apply in certain circumstances.
Special orders and non-standard items made
to your specifications are not returnable (excepting defective equipment returned for repair). We will attempt to do everything we can
to rectify the problem in these cases.

The in-line setup of the six wheels make
cabbing quick and efficient. There is no
need for you to move to the side of the
machine, allowing you to work without
interruption. Wheels are supported
on both sides of the shaft, minimizing
the problem of unbalanced extended
shafts. Two water misters insure a
generous supply of coolant while the
removable water pans make cleaning a
cinch! Housing is a modern high impact
polymer with rounded corners for easy
cleanup.

CABERET, complete with a heavy duty variable speed motor and integral spray unit all assembled in a handsome, modern, high
impact, durable ABS housing. The 3/4 inch diameter stainless steel shaft is designed to accept six, 6” diameter by 1 1/2” wide
wheels, or polishing pads (with 1/4” - 20 threads). Any combination of diamond wheels from 4” to 6” diameter up to a maximum
length of 9” may be used. Select your own wheels or belts (see pages 15-19) or select one of our popular packages below.

STAR CUP. Make Beads or Star Sapphires. This star cup is used to grind, sand and polish star gems,
beads, cabochons and small spheres. The cup fits on the Cab-Mate, Faceting machine or any 1/2” - 20 right
hand, threaded spindle. The unit is supplied with the cup holder and three copper cups which can be charged
with 325, 1,200 and 50,000 grit diamond compound (sold separately). The holder separates easily by hand
to facilitate changing of the star cup inserts. Uses less diamond than any other method and inexpensive
replacement cups are available if accidentally contaminated. Recommended speed is 700 to 1400 RPM.

CROWNING ATTACHMENT. Perfect Crown Every Time! Used with the Graves Preformer, this tool
provides a quick and easy way to grind perfect crowns on your cabochons. First the outline of the cabochon
is shaped on the preformer. The 1/4” dop, with the stone, is then inserted into the crowning attachment handle
(making re-dopping unnecessary) and the pivot bar is attached to the Preformer. By using any one of several
pivot points, you can form the stone with high, low or perfectly round slopes. To shape the cabochon just
move the handle up and down and side to side with the stone against the grinding wheel. Slowly advance
the stone to the wheel, using the Preformer’s micrometer stop, until the flat spot in the middle of the stone
disappears. Because the pivot point of the handle is fixed you can get a perfect radius of curvature. The
handle accepts any 1/4” dop and the Preformer (see page 7) can be mounted to almost any lapidary grinding
machine. Complete instructions are included.

GEM-TEMPR TEMPLATES. The Gem-TempR line consists of six aluminum and three clear plastic
templates manufactured by the Graves Company. Use them to scribe outlines of the most popular cabochon
sizes and shapes on rock slabs, prior to sawing. These templates are basic pieces of lapidary hardware.
METAL TEMPLATES. The colorful, anodized aluminum templates offer rigidity and durability. The
double sided outlines allow placing a slab between the two connecting templates and scribing each side of
the slab. Using this technique, grinding and sawing becomes faster, easier and more accurate. The color
coding makes identification of the template type quick and easy.

SPRAY PUMP. This easy to use pump system is designed to cool and lubricate diamond wheels or
blades. The movable spray head is positioned under the wheel in a trough containing lubricant. A separate
air pump aspirates coolant from the spray head (about 2 to 3 inches high) on to the bottom of the wheel.

PREFORM CABS AND FACETING ROUGH WITH THIS HANDY TOOL
GRAVES PERFORMER. Take the guess work out of shaping and sizing
cabochons and faceted stones. Simply assemble the proper cam, turn the
handwheel and the preformer will guide the grinding of the stone to the precise size and shape of the cam. Easily adapts to most grinding and faceting
machines. To save time - stack up to four cabs together and preform all at
the same time. The preformer, as supplied, includes a slide base plate with
mounting bracket, two 1/4” dops, one dop handle and four of our most popular
cams. Additional precision molded nylon cams are available as a package,

cams can be made in your own workshop.The preformer is supplied with

The spool, made from a phenolic resin, exclusive to the Graves machine, will not warp, crack
or chip and does not generate heat making it perfect for the polishing of delicate stones. The
spool is manufactured to accept 6 different grades of diamond grit and designed so you can
polish either flat or curved surfaces. To use the polisher just take a dopped cabochon that
has been ground on a 220 grit grinding wheel and apply a dab of 325 grit diamond compound
to the first hub on the polisher. Work the stone into the 2 inch section of the revolving spool.
The gem is then wiped clean and the next finer grit is applied to the adjacent section. The process is repeated (with an occasional drop of extender fluid) until all
six steps have been completed. It takes only a few minutes and after several cabs have been finished, the spool will become charged and only an occasional dab
of compound will be needed to recharge the unit. The unit comes complete with a 120V 60 Hz UL approved motor (220V not available) with overload protection.

FACETING HEAD AND MAST
The faceting heads and mast for the Mark
I and Mark IV are designed and manufactured to the highest standards thus insuring
the accurate grinding and faceting of the
gemstones. The stainless steel dop spindle
is machined within a concentricity of 0.001
inches and the double set of sealed, precision, stainless steel ball bearings insure the
accurate grinding and polishing of facets.
The mast consists of a 5/8" precision ground,
stainless steel shaft which is pressed into
the base plate. The base of this entire assembly is then machined square with the
mast to assure proper alignment. A radial
vernier (cheater) permits micro rotation of
the dop to completely polish a previously
ground facet. The faceting head can be set
to a free-wheeling position which permits preforming of the stone by continuously rotating the gem at a specific angle. A chrome radial vernier (cheater),
and an engraved 32-toothed index plate, to make learning easy, are standard
equipment. The Faceting Head tilts into a spring-loaded locked position for quick
stone inspection, or the entire head can be easily removed from the mast. The
Graves faceting head includes an angle indicator with a 1/10 degree vernier for
accurate measurement.

Graves Company is proud to introduce the Mark 5XL Faceting Machine featuring our digital angle display meter. This revolutionary design allows users to truly
“cut to the numbers” utilizing a simple digital display that is stable, repeatable, and accurate.
The new Graves Mark 5XL faceting head features a combination of simplicity in design, ease of use, and state of the art precision that is beyond anything on the
market today. This design has been extensively field tested by actual faceters, both amateur and professional.
The Mark 5XL faceting head features an electronic angle scale that is repeatable to better than .02 degrees, calibrated 0-90 degrees to 2 arc-minutes (+/-.03
degrees). Precision laboratory grade electronics are used throughout the design all housed in solid CNC machined aluminum. In cutting tests, it has approximately ten times the sensitivity of an LED “Down Light”, and allows cutting “To the Numbers”. This method of faceting allows you set your angle, index setting
and depth, then simply let the easy to read digital display tell you when to stop cutting. A little practice and you will be amazed at how easy and fast you can
finish a beautiful faceted gemstone.
A ¾ inch case hardened stainless steel mast provides rigidity to avoid over cutting due to mast defection. The coarse height adjustment collar will not drop when
loosened and provides a fast setting. The fine height adjustment is a 1 inch micrometer head with .001” increment marking.
A solid aluminum quill and main housing with precision sealed ball bearings to support the quill and angle shaft, and a durable e-coat finish complete the design. A 9 volt battery powers the electronics providing up to 250 hours of cutting time. No wires or power supplies to get in the way.

BRASS DOPS WITH 1/4" SHANKS. With 30 different types and sizes of high quality, brass dops,
Graves offers one of the largest selections of dops in the industry. All of the dops are manufactured from
solid brass and come with a precision turned 1/4" shank. The brass construction of these dops avoids corrosion problems that can occur with less expensive aluminum. For ease of orientation each of the flat and
cone dops are keyed with a 1/16" hole drilled into the turned shaft. Rectangular stones that are cut using the
Vee dops are easily set by positioning the long side of the stone square with the lap. Average weight is 2 oz.

all rough is not equally acceptable to all facetors. Therefore we have made it as easy as possible for you to examine each and every piece at your convenience

FACETING ROUGH, as supplied by Graves, is selected from the best quality gemstones available for a reasonable price; giving our customers the best value.
Natural rough varies considerably in quality from mine to mine and depending on availability, will vary in price. As a gemstone buyer you can take advantage of
our unconditional “SATISFACTION GUARANTEED” policy, which allows the discriminating buyer ample opportunity to examine each stone for acceptability. Stones which are unacceptable, for whatever reason, can be returned (US Mail Insured) for full credit, exchange or refund. This policy applies

CUBIC ZIRCONIA
Our CZ is selected for its quality and consistency in color from lot to lot. The wide range of colors available provides the opportunity to select a color to match
clothing accessories or accent other faceted stones. CZ critical angle is 270. See page 73 for suggested angles. CZ's high refractive index of 2.20 rivals that of
diamond (2.41). It is a tough stone with a hardness of 8.5. These qualities make it a very durable stone and less likely to scratch or become dull as do many common faceted stones. Polished with diamonds, the brilliant sparkle that springs from a properly faceted CZ is unrivaled except in the better cut diamonds.

Features. These compact and economical lapidary machines are noted for their simplicity in design
and versatility. Each unit is made from aluminum and finished in a beautiful hammer tone enamel.
Features include sealed ball bearings, plated 5/8" diameter shafts turned and threaded to 1/2" - 20 for

How Do Diamond Blades Work?
Diamond Blades don’t really cut like a knife, they grind.
During the process, individual diamond crystals are exposed
on the outside edge and sides of the rim. These ex[posed
surface diamonds do the grinding work. The metal matrix
locks each diamond in place. Trailing behind each exposed
diamond is a “bond tail” (also called comet tail) which
helps support the diamond.
While the blade rotates on the arbor shaft of the saw the
stone is pushed into the blade. The blade begins to grind
(cut) through the stone, while the stone begins wearing
away the blade.
Exposed, surface diamonds score the stone, grinding it
into a fine powder. Embedded diamonds remain beneath
the surface.
Exposed diamonds crack or fracture as they cut, breaking
down into even smaller pieces. Hard, dense rocks cause
the diamonds to fracture even faster. The stone also begins
wearing away the metal matrix through abrasion. Highly
