Fez Fa’anana
AWARD WINNING INDEPENDENT ARTIST, PERFORMER,
CHOREOGRAPHER, ARTS WORKER/EDUCATOR, HOST/MC
AND AN INDEPENDENT PRODUCER.
Fez will well known for creating accessible, groundbreaking, physically
dynamic, risqué and contemporary performance that infuses his Pacific
bloodline, political bite, gender juggling, visual spectacle and tongue-incheek.
Fez is also Shivannah. He-she is the host and MC, choreographer, creative
director, performer, collaboratorandco-creatoralong with an all-male circus
burlesque gender bending cast.
As an independent artist, collaborator and arts worker/educator, Fez has
toured extensively throughout Australia and internationally through Canada,
the Pacific, the UK and the USA. He has featured in various cabarets, coproductions and commissioned works including Melbourne Comedy Festival,
Melbourne International Festival, Sydney Biennale, Sydney Festival, Harbor
Front Centre Toronto, Big Sky Works & Galapagos Art Space New York,
Performance Space Sydney, Duckie Royal Vauxhall London and the Sydney
Opera House Studio. He has also independently produced and programmed
work for Brisbane Festival, Adelaide Fringe Festival as well as the Brisbane
Powerhouse.

Mark has toured the nation and globe for the past 10 years forging a
unique Aussie flavour amongst festivals, spiegeltents, nite clubs and
theatres and winning awards along the way.
His signature acts that have graced stages worldwide blend circus,
burlesque, clown and pure risque showmanship. He has featured in
productions such as Feasting on Flesh Sydney Opera House, a
resident Boylesque fixture in The Famous Spiegeltent, Guest artist in
the acclaimed Comic Strip, La Clique, Late Night lounge@ The Studio
and Ali McGregor’s late night variety, a core member of the
renowned Brisbane company POLYTOXIC. He has starred in the
recent re-birth of La Clique Royale - Edinburgh Fringe and an iconic
co-creator and artist in the award winning production BRIEFS - All
Male All Vaudeville All Trash.

Evil Hate Monkey
AWARD-WINNING ACROBATIC BURLESQUE LEGEND NEW
YORK CITY AND LAS VEGAS KING OF BURLESQUE 2010
The Evil Hate Monkey is New York City’s sexiest simian. As an awardwinning acrobatic burlesque legend, Monkey has been throwing his
poo at audiences since 2002. He has earned the Burlesque Hall of
Fame’s King of Boylesque title (2010) and Best Duo (2007) with his
trainer and partner, Trixie Little. Monkey brings his love of bananas
and a mastery of climbing to his performances, which range from
song and dance to flipping and stripping. Although his rear end is
naturally hairless, he dedicates every performance to all the hairy
creatures of the world.
Lachy Shelley
ONE OF AUSTRALIA’S MOST TALENTED PERFORMERS
Lachy is a well respected performer and a rigger who fuses his
interpretation of traditional clowning techniques with modern
acrobatic styles. He began his interest in circus at high school where
he trained & performed with a number of local youth circus’s before
becoming a founding member of CIRCA Zoo. He then lived in New
Zealand and attended Circo Arts where he studied under many great
tutors including Stanislav Shchukin, a leading clown of the Moscow
Circus. Upon returning to Brisbane he became involved as a founding
member of troops as Hoopla Clique & Briefs.
As a rigger, Lachy has also traveled the globe to work with many
incredible minds in places such as NICA, Tasmanian Circus Festival &
Woodford Folk Festival, just to name a few. Most recently Lachy has
been working on the world premier of the large scale musical
production King Kong: http://kingkongliveonstage.com.
Louis Biggs
THE NEW KID ON THE BRIEFS BLOCK
With a talent for mathematics and apanache for rubick’s cubes,
Louis Biggs is a 20-year-old acrobat, flying trapeze artist,
cabaretperformer, dancer, physical theatre artist, clown and
independent freelance practitioner. Before joining BRIEFS, Louis
grew up in Broome, Western Australia and attended the Western
Australian Circus Festival annual summer school with the Sandfly
Circus from age 11 before moving to Albury to join the Flying Fruit
Fly Circus to finish his education and to consolidate his practice as a
circus artist. Louis represented the Sandfly Circus at the national
youth circus symposium in 2010 as a promising Australian circus
artist and he was acknowledged for his work as community cultural
development leader using circus to engage with indigenous
Australian youth.

Thomas Worrell
ONE OF AUSTRALIA’S UP AND COMING CIRCUS ARTISTS
Thom started his career as a dancer in Sydney and after attending
the National Institute of Circus Arts, specializing in Aerial Hoop and
Contortion/Hand-Balancing. Thom has performed around Australia
having appeared on Australia’s Got Talent and working with A4
circus Ensemble, How to Train Your Dragon Live and King Kong the
musical. Internationally Thom has performed with a number of
companies including Le Grand Cirque, Crece and most recently Le
Noir. Touring countries such as the U.S.A, Spain, Canada, South
Africa, Japan, Singapore and China. In 2012 Thom competed in the
SolyCirco festival in Germany where he was awarded an
“Engagement Award” and in 2013 won the title of Acrobatic Hoop
Champion at the Australian Pole Fitness Championships. This year
Thom returned to the Hoopla Festival in Sydney appearing in The
Aerial All Stars and took out in the inaugural Circus Throw Down to
claim the title of Circus Maestro.
James Welsby
James Welsby is a dancer and performance maker who is interested
in the camp, visceral, and gritty. He graduated from the Victorian
College of the Arts, School of Dance in 2007, and since 2008 has
worked independently and as co-director of Phantom Limbs (winner
“Best Dance” and “Melbourne Festival Discovery Award” for
TRTH+FNTSY, Melbourne Fringe 2013). James has performed in
shows by Luke George, Finucane and Smith, Martin Del Amo, Theo
Adams, Nat Cursio, Hydra Poesis, Buzz Dance Theatre, and Opera
Australia, and has developed work with Phillip Adams BalletLab. In
2013 James was accepted into Next Wave’s Kickstart program, and
choreographer Stephanie Lake mentored James through JUMP
mentoring in Melbourne and Lyon, France.
James’s first full-length show was ‘Tidefolk Fictions’ (2012), and he
has co-directed every Phantom Limbs show to date. His most
celebrated work is ‘HEX’ which was part of Next Wave Festival 2014,
and will be part of the 2014 International AIDS Conference. He has
also choreographed for Lucy Guerin Inc (P4SS), Menagerie Collective
(The Riot Hustle) Sisters Grimm (The Sovereign Wife – Neon at MTC),
Zoe Coombs Marr (DAVE), and Zoey Dawson (Romeo and Juliet), Next
Wave (Private Dances 2010), and for musicians LE1F, Clairy Browne,
Cakes Da Killa, and Joni in the Moon. In 2010 James was a ReelDance
International Dance on Screen Festival finalist, and winner of their
‘Encouragement Award’ and in 2011 was an ArtStart and Ian Potter
Cultural Trust recipient. James has taught at Chunky Move and
throughout regional and remote Australia for five years.
James also works in cabaret and has created his own outrageous and
adored show called “YUMMY” which was presented in
Melbourne and Berlin.
