Lecture
Module Advanced Thermal Systems deepens the understanding of energy systems with respect to
transient behavior. As the role of energy storages is increasing in future decentralized energy
systems, the students get a deeper insight into energy storage. The students are aware of the
different types of thermal energy storages and understand their limits regarding temperature
ranges, energy density, charging and discharging. The students can select appropriate storages
for respective applications. The students know a systematic approach to access the transient
behavior of thermal systems. They are able to formulate a set of differential equations for thermal
systems and to solve initial value problems by Computer-Algebra-Tools.
