Being hanseatic basically means: down to earth and cosmopolitan, reliable and daring,
understated in demeanour and deeply convinced of liberty of mind and action. Hamburg
inspires. It is a pleasure to build bicycles in this city. Here at STEVENS we have been living
and experiencing this day by day for 25 years.

STRAIGHT FORWARD TALK.
Constructing a bike from the first concept to
a rideable prototype demands a clearly structured work process. Many people bring in their
experiences and doubts, their know-how and
their wishes. Countless ideas come together
for every new bike project. They must be approved, discarded or improved step by step,
and in the end they have to be tested rigorously. All of this happens in Hamburg – with top of
the line software, in our own laboratories with
our own machinery.
Everyone who has any responsibility at
STEVENS lives and works in Hamburg. Here
we come together each day. Here, everything
is on the table. Suggestions of professionals
who push our bikes to the limit, on and off
road. Opinions of dealers, who add their very
own knowledge and their customers’ experience. Reports of the in-house quality management and those we read in the press about
our products. Not without a reason a label on
every STEVENS bike says: ”Designed and engineered in Hamburg”.
BUILT ON SITE.
It is not far to the assembly plant. From the
developers' offices, the STEVENS factory is
only a few stairs down. This means, our highend bikes are made directly before our eyes.
What applies to them is also valid for most of
our range: ”Completely designed and assembled in Germany”. A commitment to quality
that we live and breathe. A commitment that
transcends into reality and is aptly described
as ”joy of riding”.

DEVELOPMENT
CONTINUE TO DEVELOP
Light and racy, at the same time comfortable and durable – these are the requirements for
any new or improved STEVENS bike. Achieving a maximum in high-quality material and
handling characteristics for any specific price point has been our goal since our beginning
25 years ago.
ALL THE FREEDOM.
Our engineers have everything they need at
their hands: Hardware and software, machines
and test beds, choice of material and lab equip­
ment – all state-of-the art technology. They also
have time for extensive test rides and the freedom to rethink even well-proven methods.
PERFEKT PARTNERS.
Even the most resourceful tinkerers cannot
reinvent the wheel on their own. Therefore,
STEVENS engineers, when looking for innovation, cooperate with certified specialists
and trusted partners. This includes for example pannier rack manufacturer Tubus, who
has developed a pannier rack with us that is
supported by the frame and whose struts are
hidden below the fender to provide a clean
appearance. It not only looks good it also adds
to a more stable ride.
To make the head light blend in perfectly with
the suspension fork was a goal of STEVENS
and Busch+Müller. For our rigid aluminium
forks we have developed our own form-fitting
mounting bracket that is securely hindered
from twisting by two bolts. A plus in stiffness
and therefore safety is provided by thru-axles
in the suspension forks of our pedelecs and
disc brake bikes, which resulted from our cooperation with Suntour. Another technologically convincing feature is our SPF rigid fork
that – drawn from a single piece – is very light
and robust.

QUALITY CONTROL
FULL CONTROL
There’s two properties STEVENS bikes are known for. They are very light. And they are very,
very durable. Let us tell you a secret: We succeed in combining these properties, because
everything we develop, we test, test and test again. Not only in the final phase, when our
engineers are applying their finishing touches to their achievements, but even after during
serial production. The stock product must keep what the prototype has promised – time
and time again. That is why we do not separate development from production. That is why
our designers are personally involved in and responsible for the assurance of quality in serial production, so they test and test and test again.
INDEPENDENT EXPERTISE.
SELF AWARENESS.
To assure quality we don’t only rely on ourselves. In this aspect we are relentlessly objective. We want to be rigorously observed from
the outside. For this we have a trusted partner,
the “Zedler institute for Bicycle Technology and
Safety”. Master Engineer Dirk Zedler is well
known, appreciated, officially certified, court
appointed bicycle expert with over 20 years experience as a bicycle evaluator. Thanks to his
support we exactly know our products’ qualities. Frames, no matter if made from carbon
fibre or aluminium, forks, seat posts, wheels he
had them all tested thoroughly in exactly that
very combination we put them on our bikes.
That’s why STEVENS bikes can be so light and
so durable at the same time.
There are very few, if any, STEVENS employees, who are not avid cyclists. Those who are,
spend thousands of miles in the saddle, some
of them doing their groceries with a kids’ trailer, others winning cyclocross world championships in the Masters’ category. By this “large
scale survey” any lack of quality or flaw can
be detected. Our development engineers will
make sure to listen very closely, because that
is what you do when you have lunch with these
people on a daily basis. But this you will experience yourself.

We are convinced of our first class suppliers from all over the world. Yet we claim that
the most part of STEVENS bikes’ added value is created in Germany. So, more than 60%
of our bikes are assembled in Germany and at least 85% within the European Union. So,
we build all STEVENS wheels ourselves. So, we have instituted a successful custom bike
program that makes us market leader in individually built racing bikes and cyclocross bikes in
Germany –„made in Hamburg“, of course.
SHORT SUPPLY CHAINS.
CUSTOMER PROXIMITY.
Among our long-term and best business partners are suppliers who use their own manufacturing in Germany. Unsurpassably reliable
disc brakes are made by Magura in Bad Urach.
The legendary Speedhub, a transmission hub
whose 14 gears will get you to the end of the
world, if you want, is made by Rohloff in Kassel. Innovative lighting by Busch + Müller from
Meinerzhagen in the Sauerland region illuminates the city bike and trekking bike range day
to day. Also from the Sauerland, from the town
of Sundern we are supplied with fenders by
SKS. And as our youngest member within our
family of suppliers we welcome Pinion whose
innovative 18-speed and 9-speed gear boxes are true milestones on the way to an even
longer-lasting bicycle.
We are on German and European roads, trails
and bicycle paths 12 months a year. We rely
on a web of 600 specialist retailers in Germany
alone, and know that they are ahead of their
competition in terms of competence and service by more than a tire width. We maintain
relations with countless loyal regular customers – and have received their varied feedback
even before Facebook etc. existed. No wonder
that we know the requirements and demands
of the highly discerning Global bicycle market.

The new joy of cycling is called pedelec, because it uses not one but two power sources –
the rider’s pedal power and an electric motor. This way STEVENS riders benefit from
the competence of two partners who are experts in their respective field. In terms of
e-drive technology this means Bosch – the world’s largest automotive supplier – with its
vast know-how in e-technology.

INTUVIA, NUVINCI, H-SYNC
The basis for riding fun is drivetrain technology. Take e.g. intelligent monitoring. Three sensors perform 1000 measurements per second
to optimally modulate power support at any
time. The benefit: Additional torque of up to
75Nm (55ft.lb), powerful but never inconvenient propulsion, instead a smooth ride feeling
and the certainty to always be able to control
your pedelec.
There has never been more system integration in a bicycle: The STEVENS E-Caprile 25’s
Bosch display has full control over the automatic shifting – and manages the stepless
transmission according to a cadence custom-programmed to the rider’s preference.

This is what determines success or failure
in e-mobility. STEVENS uses the BOSCH
PowerPack 400 – its top models are even
specced with the PowerPack 500 with a
huge capacity of 500Wh for a range of up to
215km (134mls).

on STEVENS’ expertise in building highly functional and long-lasting, yet elegant and swift

in, but they don’t rest on their laurels and keep on tinkering detail by detail to find even better

OPTIMIZED FORMA
STABLE RIDE
Forma is what we call our low-instep frames –
for 2016 the instep has become even lower for
utmost everyday usability. That now you can lift
and carry Forma pedelecs even more easily is
a convenient side-effect.
Frames made from load-specific shaped aluminium tubing. Forks with torsionally stiff
tapered steerers and Forma frames with
an extra-large connection to the downtube
… our engineers know exactly what they’re
doing. And test labs confirm this year after

A smirky ear-to-ear grin – this is by what our touring pedelec owners recognize each other,
even when the road is going uphill. The reason for that must be the strong Bosch electric
drive combined with Shimano derailleurs, beefy disc brakes and exceptionally stiff and

There is a lot of development work to be found in this dropout – but now it perfectly combines three key
features: wheel location of course. Brake mount, very precise. And a delicate integration of the pannier
rack tubes we developed in cooperation with our supplier Racktime. We are proud to say that hardly any
of our competitors works with so much love for detail. But we are sure you already know this.
FREE TRAVEL All our pedelecs are supported up to 25 km/h by a Bosch drive train – and
are permitted everywhere bicycles are, too. The only exception being the
S-pedelec E-Triton 45 which requires an insurance sticker and has to stay
on the road. But you can speed up to 45 km/h with it …

We are talking of the high-tech drive belt which transfers – without any noise and maintenance free
– the complete propulsion power of rider and Bosch motor to the NuVinci rear hub which steplessly
changes gears. On the E-Caprile Luxe it works in a particularly safe “Center Track” version. Of course
you can open the frame’s rear triangle in case the drive belt needs to be replaced or a flat tire has to
be repaired.
EXTRA. BIG. BOTTOM Especially with pedelecs it is important that riding stability is always
guaranteed. This is why we spec our pedelecs – except for our entry-level
models – with tapered steerers which have an extra large diameter at the
bottom where the fork induces its forces into the frame.

Also the STEVENS E-Carpo has a tapered steerer and therefore offers maximum steering precision and
minimum weight. The upper bearing measures 1 1/8 inches the lower a massive 1.5 inches of diameter.
Frame and steerer tube are made stiffest where the highest forces apply. Speaking of forks: The fork is
made from a single piece and the front wheel is held safely and stiff by a thru axle.
ELEGANT FLOW The seat stays of the E-Carpo elegantly flow into the seat tube. Here also
the mudguard is mounted – in case you really use your city racer every
day indeed and not only when the weather is fine.
FORM FOLLOWS FUNCTION At the head tube of the E-Carpo several hydro-formed, double-butted
aluminium tubes meet – and provide high torsional stiffness as well as
steering precision. Behind, the upper tube drops as steeply as it does
on mountainbikes. This provides a lot of standover space and freedom
of movement.
AUTOMATIC SHIFTING This fascinating feature turns the NuVinci Harmony into an ideal partner in gear shifting on pedelecs. Even more so in
combination with the maintenance-free belt drive. The rider only has to choose the cadence desired and can start the
ride immediately. Always with the perfect gear transmission ratio and propulsion support. But of course there also is a

You can tell by looking at the coarsely ribbed motor case what hides inside: an electric assist made by
Bosch which announces a completely new level of riding fun with its torque of 75 Newton meters. As the
rechargeable battery now provides 500 watt hours which is more than ever, the E-Pordoi is excellently
prepared for long, rough off-road tours. But it also takes you on relaxed after-work rides through the
city jungle.
STRONG ENOUGH It have to be a massive suspension fork with 34 millimeter stanchion
tubes, 15QR thru axle and 203 millimeters of brake disc diameter – this
trail pedelec with its beefy Bosch drive train has to be kept under control
after all.
PLANNED OR SPONTANEOUSLY On the large Nyon display the riders of our E-Pordoi can navigate over a
course planned before – or spontanuously explore new paths. Never again
you will have to stop and dig out a map. And on demand it shows fitness
data and heart rate, too.

TIPS FOR OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE
A pedelec is a bicycle with an electric motor that supports the rider up to a speed of 25kph
(15mph) as long as the rider is pedaling. Pedelec is the abbreviation for pedal electric cycle.
By law a pedelec 25 is considered a normal bicycle, yet there are several differences from
a conventional bike in terms of care and maintenance.
Please read the STEVENS instructions thoroughly, which are handed to you with your purchase
of a bike – at least sections ”before the first ride” and ”before every ride”. The instructions will
answer further questions about the everyday use of your STEVENS pedelec.
RIDE CHARACTERISTICS.
SPEED PEDELECS.
MODIFICATIONS.
Please note that pedelecs accelerate faster and can go faster
than you might be used to from a conventional bicycle. When
test riding better start with the lowest level of support. Please
keep in mind that other road users might consider you a normal slower cyclist. Therefore, when riding, you need to be even
more alert.
They support the rider while pedaling up to 45kph (28mph) and
may also have a start-assist up to 18 kph (12mph). In Germany
speed pedelecs are defined as ”low power motorized two-wheel
vehicles”. Different rules may apply in other countries, but mostly you
are obliged to be in possession of a specific driver’s license, have
a license plate, insurance and to wear a helmet while riding. Also
within city limits the use of a bike path may only be allowed when
it’s cleared to use for motorized bicycles. To be certain, please refer
to your specific country’s traffic laws.
Some components of a pedelec or speed pedelec may not
be altered, like motor, control unit and related electronics. To
make your STEVENS pedelec fit your personal needs, see your
STEVENS dealer. He keeps a selection of parts that are allowed
to be changed like handlebars, saddles and grips.
RANGE.
BATTERY CARE AND MAINTENANCE.
CHILD SEATS AND TRAILERS.
The ranges of pedelec batteries stated by the manufacturers are
average estimates. For how many kilometers exactly a battery
can support the rider in at a specific level depends on terrain and
wind and on how forceful and evenly you are pedaling.
Pedelec batteries need care in order to last long. Charge the
battery only when it’s dry and at temperatures stated in the
instructions. If the battery needs to be stored for a longer time,
do so at around 60% of its maximum capacity and between
10° – 15° C. Use the original charging device only!
Transporting children with both pedelecs and speed pedelecs
is allowed with an appropriate child seat. The operation with a
child trailer is legal with a pedelec 25 up to a trailer weight of
40kg (88lbs), but not with a speed pedelec. We recommend
using a trailer with proprietary brakes. To make sure that seat
and trailer coupling fit your bike, take your STEVENS pedelec
to your local dealer.

Take your time for a test ride. Because your new bike shall be
your companion for many years to come. Try to ride exactly
those kinds of routes, you wish to use your new STEVENS bike
on. Also try other similar models as well as cheaper and more
expensive ones. This way you‘ll get an overview about what‘s
state of technology and what your bike has to offer.
By having your STEVENS bike revised on a regular basis you
will keep it safely rolling for many years. Parts that suffer wear
and tear, like chain and brake pads, have to be changed regularly. Gear hubs and suspension forks are subject to specified
maintenance intervals.
Your STEVENS dealer offers you all the accessories that you
need for your all day riding, from replacement tubes or locks to
floor pumps. Please ask for advice. Your dealer knows about
the current state of technology.
FINE TUNING.
WARRANTY.
If you prefer a certain type of saddle, bar grips or pedals, your
dealer can change these parts for you. You can also use a longer
or shorter stem to further adjust your seating position in detail.
We also talk about possible minor componentry changes with
your local dealer before the purchase. This kind of service is
what makes a dedicated dealer and means extra benefit for you
on your every ride.
Should there ever occur a material defect, the original owner is protected by the STEVENS warranty for the duration of
five years. This comprehensive protection covers all defects in
material or workmanship either on the frame or components
that bear the STEVENS name, no matter what (frame) material.
