Visitor ’s Guide Welcome Further Information Ascension Island Welcome to Green Mountain National Park. The National Park covers much of the south-eastern section of the Island, located between Two Boats, Mountain Red Hill, Devil's Ashpit and Weather Post as shown on the map opposite. The Park is home to a wide variety of the Island's wildlife, including landcrabs, Fairy terns and red necked francolins. It also host to an abundance of plants, many of which have been introduced. There are however five species of endemic plants which still naturally occur on Green Mountain. Golf Travellers Hill Lady Hill 329 DONKEY PLAIN Pratt Point The Park also offers a welcome respite from the hot climate common to the rest of Ascension. There are numerous picnic tables and a children's play area adjacent to Red Lion, making Green Mountain National Park an ideal place to relax and appreciate the beauty of the Island. Advice for Visitors North East Bay North East Point 150 Tartar Rock Green Mountain also offers a great deal of historical interest, with evidence of past schemes ranging from the Norfolk Island Pines, planted to provide timber for sailing ship masts, to the 300m-long tunnel, dug in the 1830s to enable water to be pumped through the mountain. Linking these features together is a network of historic paths, which provide superb panoramic views of the island. Further information on plants and wildlife, the history of Green Mountain and walks along its paths is provided in separate leaflets available from the Conservation Centre in Georgetown and the information building located at the park entrance. 5km English Bay = The Emergency Telephone is at the Red Lion. = Observe the Code of Conduct at all times.
