Im Advent verwandelt sich die pulsierende
Wörthersee-Metropole in eine romantische Engelstadt. Der Lichterglanz am und um den See
verzaubert große und kleine Adventbesucher
gleichermaßen. Ein buntes Potpourri aus traditionellen Adventhütten, köstlichen Gerüchen von
Tannenreisig, Honigkerzen und Glühmost sowie
weihnachtlichen Klängen heimischer Chöre vereint sich zu einer unverwechselbaren Symphonie
der Vorweihnachtszeit.
Geöffnet hat der Veldener Advent seine Pforten an
allen 4 Adventwochenenden, jeweils freitags
von 15.00 bis 20.00 Uhr, samstags von 11.00 –
20.00 Uhr und sonntags und am 8. Dezember
von 11.00 – 20.00 Uhr. Der Adventmarkt erstreckt
sich vom Gendarmerieplatz über das Casino Velden bis zum Strandpark vor dem Schloss Velden.
Doch auch der See selbst ist in den Adventmarkt
miteingebunden. Weit über die Grenzen hinaus bekannt sind der „schwimmende Adventkranz“
mit seinen 80.000 Lichtern und die „schwimmende Krippe“.

Durante il periodo dell’Avvento questo pulsante
centro sulle sponde del Wörthersee si trasforma
nella romantica e luminosa “Città degli Angeli”
che incanta grandi e piccini con lo sfavillio di
migliaia di luci. In questo contesto le tradizionali
bancarelle, gli aromi del vin brulé, il dolce profumo
delle candele e del pino ed i canti natalizi creano
la magica atmosfera del Natale.
Il Mercatino dell’Avvento a Velden si svolge durante tutti e quattro i fine settimana che precedono
il Natale: ogni venerdì dalle 15.00 alle 20.00,
ogni sabato dalle 11.00 alle 20.00, la dome-
nica e l‘8 dicembre dalle 11.00 alle 20.00 e si
sviluppa dalla Gendarmerieplatz fino al Casinò e lo
Strandpark (di fronte allo Schlosshotel).
Anche il lago stesso diventa un’attrazione, dove
poter ammirare la straordinaria Corona dell’Avvento con le sue 80.000 luci ed il Presepio
galleggiante.

“City of Angels”!
During the pre-Christmas period, Velden, the famous and vibrant village on the shores of Lake
Wörthersee is romantically transformed into the
‘City of Angels’. Visitors, young and old alike, will
be enchanted by the millions of sparkling lights.
A cosy atmosphere filled with delicious scents of
vanilla and cinnamon and the wonderful sounds of
Christmas carols in the air, will awake the joyful
anticipation of Christmas in you.
The Christmas market is open on the 4 weekends
preceding Christmas, ever Friday from 3pm to
8pm, every Saturday from 11am to 8pm and
every Sunday as well as on December 8th, from
11am to 8 pm. The market stalls meander from the
Gendarmerieplatz to the Casino and further to the
Strandpark in front of the famous Schlosshotel
Velden.
Some of the major attractions can be found right on
the lake, such as the ‘floating Advent Wreath’ or
the ‘floating Native Scene’.

Beim Veldener Advent werden Tradition und
Kunsthandwerk großgeschrieben. Neben dem
Kunsthandwerksmarkt, bei dem wunderschöne,
handgefertigte Produkte zum Verkauf angeboten
werden, ist es immer wieder ein besonderes Erlebnis, Künstlerinnen und Künstlern vor Ort bei ihrer
Arbeit zuzusehen. So ist es dem Kunstschmied,
der Krippenschnitzerin, dem Papierschöpfer
und vielen anderen Kunsthandwerkern und Kunsthandwerkerinnen eine Freude, den zahlreichen
begeisterten Besuchern des Veldener Advents,
einen Einblick in ihre traditionelle Handwerkskunst
zu geben. Die neue Barockkrippe im Strand-
park, wird vom Osttiroler Bildhauer Gabriel
Rauchegger, in Kooperation mit dem CHS
Villach jeden Advent um eine neue, lebensgroße
Krippenfigur erweitert. Bräuche, wie die Adventkranzsegnung, die Rorate, der Krampuslauf
oder das Christbaumversenken sind Fixpunkte
im vorweihnachtlichen Programm. Natürlich zeigt
die Engelstadt am Wörthersee auch eine Engelausstellung zu finden im Foyer vom Casinohotel Velden. Gemütliche Glühweinstände und
wärmende Feuerschalen laden allerorts zum
Verweilen ein. Der Veldener Advent – ein Ort zum
Träumen, Staunen und Innehalten.
Tradizioni di Natale
A Velden, durante il periodo dell’Avvento, rivivono
le tradizioni e l’artigianato artistico. Vi consigliamo di visitare la mostra-mercato dell’artigianato per trovare bellissimi ed unici prodotti fatti a
mano e per ammirare gli artisti al lavoro; per loro
sarà un piacere introdurvi ai segreti di antichi mestieri! Inoltre ogni anno il “Presepio barocco”,
realizzato con sculture a grandezza naturale, viene
arricchito da un nuovo personaggio; un’opera in
legno creata da Gabriel Rauchegger, scultore
dell’Osttirol, in collaborazione con la Scuola di
Moda CHS Villach. Appuntamenti imperdibili a
cui assistere sono anche le usanze che vengono
riproposte, come la benedizione delle Corone dell’Avvento, la sfilata dei Krampus e
l’accensione dell’albero di Natale, tutte da
vivere in prima persona. E ovviamente non può
assolutamente mancare nella Città degli Angeli
anche un’esposizione ad essi dedicata presso
il Foyer del Casinohotel Velden. Per rendere
l’atmosfera perfetta si trovano ovunque le tipiche
casette in legno dove degustare dell’ottimo vin
brulé e caldi fuochi attorno ai quali riscaldarsi.
Insomma l’Avvento a Velden è un’occasione per
sognare, stupirsi e prendersi una piacevole pausa.
Christmas traditions
Our Christmas market focuses on tradition and
handcrafts. Stroll through the market, visit the
traditional craft market. Watch over the shoulders of craftsmen at work, such as artist blacksmiths producing the famous ‘Velden Angels’ or our
woodcarver Gabriel Rauchegger, working on
the life-sized figurines for our Baroque Nativity
Scene. A visit to the Angels Exhibition should
on no account be missed! Typical Carinthian traditions such as the blessing of the Advent wreath,
Rorate masses or the “Krampus parade” complete our programme. Romantically decorated market stalls and romantic open fireplaces invite
you to pause for a moment and will certainly bring
back memories of past Christmas times.

Am Veldener Advent kommt bei Kindern garantiert
keine Langeweile auf. Mehr noch! Um alle angebotenen Kinderaktivitäten in Ruhe genießen zu
können, bedarf es mindestens einen Nachmittag.

Neben den traditionellen Stationen, wie dem
Engerlpostamt, der Engerlbackstube und
der Engerlbastelstube gibt es am Veldener
Advent noch viel mehr zu entdecken. Ob bei der
Märchenschifffahrt an Bord der „Santa Lucia“
in der Veldener Bucht, bei einer Kutschenfahrt
durch das märchenhaft beleuchtete Velden oder
am Rücken der liebenswerten Ponys im Kurpark.
Besonders eifrig werden die kleinen Adventbesucher, wenn sie den Handwerkern vor Ort, dem
Kunstschmied, dem Papierschöpfer, der Krippenschnitzerin und vielen anderen, helfen dürfen.
Besonders fleißige Adventbesucher können mit
dem Veldener Advent Engerl am Adventmarkt
Engerl-Sticker sammeln und erhalten als kleines

La magia dell‘Avvento negli occhi dei bambini
All’Avvento di Velden per i bambini non c’è tempo
per la noia! Anzi per vivere questa avventura e per
poter fare tutte le attività in tranquillità ci vuole
almeno un pomeriggio intero.
Oltre alle attrazioni tradizionali, come l’Ufficio
postale degli Angeli, il Forno degli Angeli
ed il Bricolage degli Angeli c’è molto di più
da poter fare: un giro in battello degli Angeli
“Santa Lucia” nella baia di Velden oppure un giro
in carrozza nella città piena di luci. Altrimenti è
possibile cavalcare anche dei veri pony nel Kurpark! Un’esperienza entusiasmante e da provare è
anche poter aiutare il fabbro e gli altri artigiani nel
loro lavoro e per esempio imparare a fare la carta
ed ad intagliare un presepe.
E’ inoltre possibile raccogliere tutti gli adesivi con
l’angioletto dell’Avvento e ricevere un attestato di partecipazione presso l’Ufficio postale
degli Angeli.

A visit to the Christmas market in Velden is especially delightful for children. We kindly ask you to
plan your visit carefully. It takes a whole afternoon
to enjoy all the attractions for children.
Apart from all the traditional activities such as
the Angel Post Office, the Angel Bakery and
the Angel Craft Room, there is a lot more to see
and to discover, maybe during the boat trip on the
Angel Boat “Santa Lucia“ in the Velden Bay, on a
horse carriage ride through the fabulously illuminated village or on the back of the friendly ponies.
Furthermore, our artisans are more than happy to
share their skills with our young visitors.
All our young visitors are invited to collect stickers
on the Velden Angel which you get at the Christmas market. Before leaving the Christmas market
every child bringing the Velden Angel to the Angel
Post Office will be rewarded with a personal certificate.

Das weithin sichtbare Wahrzeichen der Region
Wörthersee, der 100 m hohe Pyramidenkogel, erleuchtet den Adventhimmel auf besondere Weise.
Auf 920m Seehöhe erwartet die Besucher ein einzigartiger Rundblick über die winterliche Kärntner
Seelandschaft. Die Aussichtsplattform erreicht
man bequem mit dem Panoramalift oder sportlich
über die Treppe. Am Fuße des Aussichtsturms erwartet die Gäste ein gemütlicher, stimmungsvoller

Il nuovo simbolo della Region Wörthersee
(l’ambito del Lago Wörthersee) è la nuove Torre
panoramica ‘Pyramidenkogel’, che con la sua
altezza di 100 metri, illuminerà il cielo dell’Avvento sul lago. La torre con diverse piattaforme
panoramiche offre una vista unica e straordinaria sulla Carinzia ed i suoi laghi. Le piattaforme
si raggiungono comodamente o con l’ascensore
panoramico oppure attraverso le scale. Alla base
della torre vi aspetta un Mercatino di Natale con
un’accogliente atmosfera, allietato da straordinari
artisti-artigiani e fantastici musicisti. Il Mercatino
dell’Avvento della Pyramidenkogel è il posto ideale, “sopra le nuvole”, per godersi il sole delle
giornate invernali e dove, la sera, cercare tra le
stelle la luminosa Stella Cometa.

valley of keutschach
In the pre-Christmas period, the observation
tower ‘Pyramidenkogel’, symbolizing the new
landmark of the Lake Wörthersee region with
about 100 metres in height, will be illuminating
the dark sky. During the day you may enjoy the
fantastic view of the Carinthian landscape and
its lakes. To get to the platforms you can either
take the panoramic lift or the staircase. At the
foot of the observation tower you will find a lovely
Christmas market. Visitors will be enchanted by its
unique atmosphere. Between the nicely decorated
stalls exceptional artists present their crafts. Walk
around, enjoy the warm winter sun and listen to
the beautiful music that fills the air. High above
the clouds you might be lucky to discover the Star
of Bethlehem on the night sky.

Unser authentisches „Seedorf“ auf der Promenade
vor dem Parkhotel Pörtschach sowie die Hauptstraße bis hin zum Monte Carlo Platz, bilden nicht
nur den attraktiven und thematischen Blickfang für
unsere Veranstaltungsreihe, sondern ist darüber
hinaus der zentrale Veranstaltungsort für Kärntner
Adventkonzerte.

Geöffnet hat der „Stille Advent“ an den 4 Adventwochenenden, jeweils freitags von 15 bis

An idyllic meeting point during the pre-Christmas period
Our authentic “village on the lake”, in front of the
Parkhotel, along the “Hauptstraße” and at the
“Monte Carlo Platz“ is an attractive and cosy spot
for all our events. Furthermore, it is the central
meeting point for all Carinthian choirs to perform
their concerts in the pre-Christmas period.

folkloristici, associazioni e varie iniziative assicurano agli ospiti un programma molto vario per

Beim Advent am See in Pörtschach werden echtes
Handwerk und Tradition großgeschrieben. Vom
Perchtenlauf und Nikolo für die kleine Kinder bis
hin zu den wundervollen Adventliedern der Kärntner Chöre, welche am gesamten Adventmarkt
übertragen werden. Diese einzigartige Weih04
nachtsatmosphäre beginnt am lichterstrahlten
Wörthersee und führt über die Hauptstraße bis
zum wunderschön dekorierten Monte Carlo Platz.
Das sinnliche Erleben wird verstärkt durch
offene Feuer und einem Lichterpfad am See.

delle luci dell‘Avvento
Nel “villaggio sul lago” a Pörtschach rivivono le
tradizioni e l’artigianato. Gli ospiti possono partecipare alla vivace sfilata dei Krampus e ascoltare le tradizionali canzoni natalizie presentate
dai migliori cori carinziani. Questa ambientazione
d’incanto inizia già sul lago illuminato e si sviluppa
lungo la “Hauptstraße” fino a Piazza “Monte Carlo
Platz”, magnificamente decorata.
L’atmosfera si fa ancora più calda camminando lungo il Sentiero delle Luci dell’Avvento e passeggiando tra i numerosi fuochi
accesi all’aperto.

At the Christmas market in Pörtschach tradition
and handicraft is a big draw. You will be able to
watch typical customs such as the “Krampus” or
“Perchten” parades . The air is filled with lovely
and harmonious sounds. You can already feel the
unique atmosphere on the beautifully illuminated
lake, along the ‘Hauptstraße’ and at the lovely
decorated ‘Monte Carlo Platz’.
This sensual feeling will be incrased by
walking along the illuminated path along the
lake past romantic fireplaces.

La Nave dell‘Avvento
Il lago è il luogo migliore per vivere la magia
dell’Avvento. Oltre a dei bellissimi giri con la Nave
dell‘Avvento nella baia, attorno all’isola illuminata,
vengono proposte ogni venerdì delle gite in nave da
Pörtschach, per partecipare ai Concerti natalizi
presso il Santuario di Maria Wörth.

Advent-Boat
To experience the magic atmosphere to the fullest
there is no better place than the lake itself.
Apart from romantic boat trips around the island
adorned with sparkling pre-Christmas decoration,
every Friday evening a boat will take you to Maria
Wörth, where you can attend one of the Christmas
concerts at the famous Pilgrimage church.

Christkindlschiff am Advent am See

Einzigartig ist auch das Christkindl-Bastelschiff
für unsere kleinen Gäste, welches in der Westbucht mit den kleinen Besuchern als Kapitäne
fährt. Geöffnet ist das Christkindlschiff am Samstag und Sonntag zwischen 14 und 17 Uhr.
Um Voranmeldung wird gebeten. Auf dem Boot
können die Kinder Adventgeschenke basteln und
einen Brief an das Christkind per Flaschenpost versenden.
Gerne nimmt auch das Christkindl-Postamt auf der
Hauptstraße die Kinderwünsche entgegen.
Auf der Adventpromenade sowie am Monte Carlo
Platz finden regelmäßig Kinderprogramme statt.

Il Battello di Gesù Bambino
Nella baia occidentale del lago i nostri piccoli ospiti
possono diventare Capitano del Battello di Gesù
Bambino. Qui ogni sabato e domenica dalle
14.00 alle 17.00 i bambini possono dedicarsi al
bricolage natalizio e scrivere una lettera a Gesù
Bambino che verrà spedita via “posta in bottiglia”!
Una prenotazione è obbligatoria.
Sulla “Hauptstraße” si trova anche l’Ufficio Postale
di Gesù Bambino per ascoltare i desideri dei bambini.
Inoltre, lungo la promenade e in piazza “Monte
Carlo Platz” saranno sempre organizzate delle attività per bambini.
“Forno del Natale“: il sabato dalle 14.00 alle 17.00
Cavalcare i pony: la domenica dalle 14.00 alle 17.00
„Christkindl“ Boat
Our young visitors have the unique opportunity to
become captain on the “Christkindl-Boat” for a
moment, cruising around the western bay. Opening hours: every Saturday and Sunday from
2pm to 5pm. Reservation required. Apart from
creating small Christmas presents, children can
also write their own letter to the “Christkindl”,
which will be sent as a message in a bottle.
You will find the Christkindl-Post Office for children at the ‘Hauptstraße’.
Activities for children and the whole family will be
regularly be taking place along the lakeside promenade and at the ‘Monte Carlo Platz’.

um das Adventseedorf
Einen Höhepunkt beim Besuch des Stillen Adventes
bietet sicherlich eine geführte Fackelwanderung
rund um das einzigartige Naturschutzgebiet der
Pörtschacher Halbinsel bis zum Advent Pavillon
und zurück zum Seedorf. Ob Jung oder Alt – allen
Besuchern wird diese stimmungsvolle Wanderung
noch lange über den Besuch des Marktes hinaus in
Erinnerung bleiben.
