Many scents are often wrongly described as perfume. The main
distinguishing factor here is the concentration of pure fragrance
substances. Eau de Cologne is the lightest form of fragrance,
with three to five per cent perfume oil. Eau de toilette, with four
to eight per cent perfume oil, has a medium concentration. Eau
de Parfum has a perfume oil content of 8-15 %. Perfume extract,
containing up to 30 % perfume oil, is rather the exception. Its
high concentration of oils gives it a very high intensity. A mere
drop is enough. Eau de Parfum is the happy medium in this
respect. Its intensity is high enough to make it last a long time
and unfold its aroma very intensively, while it spreads optimally
over the skin.
