The Brainerd Mission is the most historic site in Chattanooga circa 1817. Cherokee
Indians,black slaves and whites studied together at the school founded here by Christian
Missionaries.The Mission closed in 1836 after the Federal Indian Removal Act of 1830.
Brainerd Missionaries died on the Trail of Tears with Native Americans and slaves.
