Construction of three Satellite-News-Gathering
MDR Construction of three Satellite-News-Gathering-vehicles (SNG) for radio broadcasts In May 2011, MDR (Central German Broadcasting) commissioned Studio Hamburg Media Consult International (MCI) GmbH with the construction of three SNG-vans for radio broadcasts, based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 519 CDI. These three SNG-vans should be used for current and long-planned coverage. As well the SNGs enable live reporting and recordings. Therefore, the vans dispose of wired and wireless channels. For the transmission, a complete audio-SNG plant of IGP with a satellite dish, pan-/tiltdevice, automatic control, satellite modem and a separate IP-codec was used. The radiobroadcast-SNGs thus enables the stereophonic transmission to the broadcasting center via audio-SNG-uplink, ISDN dial-up connection, UMTS, Audio-over-IP network connection as well as analog and digital (AES/EBU) connections over stationary connections. The CENTAURI from Mayah supports a stable transmission of audio gateway codecs via Internet, Intranet, LAN and WAN. Another key component was the audio mixer from DHD. The subcontractor ProVan, who realized the body constructions of the three vans, supported MCI. Client: MDR Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk Term: May 2011 – May 2012 Main components: Mercedes Benz 519 CDI Sprinter IGP Audio-SNG-Sytem DHD audiomixer MCI handed over the first of the three SNG-vans to the MDR in January 2012. The project management and planning was done by MCI. ProVan undertook the task of constructing the body of the vans as a subcontractor. The assembly, coordinated by MCI, was realized with the mechanics of the company Franke and Pahl. The long-standing partner AVC will conduct the commissioning.
