The idea began life about 25 yrs ago when I met Jay Bittle of JBA Racing while attending school at Texas A&M. Back then he had his 67 GT500 and I
always thought about how neat it would be to have a car like that one day. As life goes, that dream laid dormant for over 20 yrs until finances and life
situations gave me the opportunity to pursue it.
A short while back, we completed a 3 year restoration (Spring 2004) and it is of the highest quality restomod rotisserie variety and it get’s driven. The car
is simply too much fun to keep in the garage. I just make sure to drive on dry streets so I can still eat off the undercarriage. It has just over 6,000 miles
on it and it’s going strong. One key aspect of the 510hp / 510 lb-ft torque motor was that it had to survive about 50K miles of street driving. To that end,
“Houston S.A.M.” (School of Automotive Machinists) Juddson Massingill & Pat Topolinski built this incredible motor. And Ricky Cappel of “Cappel’s Auto
Restorations” turned practically ever other bolt on the car and put together this dream machine.
I spared no expense to build one car in my life the way I had always wanted. It is of the highest caliber from top to bottom, inside and out. I stayed true
to the colors and outside styling as well as the interior with few exceptions. I wanted it to look stock but be highly engineered to take advantage of 21st
century technolgy, but still look like it was from 1967. For the most part, the major changes were upgrades to the drivetrain. Some of the hardware by
names are Lentech, SSBC, Currie, Total Control, Stroker 408, Victor Jr., Ford Powertrain, Dr. Gas, March, Griffin, Simpson, PS Engineering and on and
on. If these parts had been around 40 yrs ago I’m sure Carrol Shelby would have made good use of them. The car certainly moves, handles, brakes
and turns as many heads as lot of other upscale exotics. A few future upgrades in the cue include fuel injection, a new cam to take advantage of it and
a taller gearset in the transmission; someone had to pump up the power to keep pace with those Corvette ZR1’s :)
With all the incredible parts on the car I can say without hesitation that the best part of mine is the “license plate frame”. It says “Please Help !!! Stop
Breast Cancer”. My Mom courageously fought breast cancer and recently passed away from it. I wanted to continue to honor her by making these
frames available to folks in cancer treatment centers and to anyone that would like one. I knew the car would get a lot of attention and I thought this
would be a good way to get the message out. When she saw the car and the words on the frame she was very moved as was I.
Simply bringing so many smiles to people is worth the price alone. Just persevering through a project like this has given me a whole new perspective on
going the extra mile, paying attention to detail and NEVER saying I quit or this is just too hard. In the end. it was worth every blood, sweat and dollar :)

model run. These items include clip-on door handles, two-speed

These are so neat that we just had to include them in this catalog! Last August, just before we went to Utah
for the MCA show in Park City, we were shipped one of the first sets of these lighted door sill plates to fit
into a Mustang. The Black Coupe sat with the doors open for most of the show and everyone who saw them
seemed to love them! They have a image of a horses head cut into them which lights up whenever the doors
are opened! They look cool during the day and totally awesome at night! They come as a pair with all necessary wiring and can be easily installed in between a couple of your favorite TV shows.

Scat ProCar seats fit 65 to 73 Mustangs better than any aftermarket seat we have found! They feature a deep bucket with pronounced shoulder and thigh bolsters that keep you firmly in the seat during hard cornering as well as a specially designed backrest for maximum support and restraint. Injected hi-density foam defines and maintains the seat shape and provides comfort.

Getting More Head And Leg Room In Your Classic Mustang!
A “How To” Tech Article From Your Friends At Mustangs Plus!

If you’re under 6’ tall, you’ll probably read this article and think “What a lot of work for nothing!” But
if you’re over 6’ tall and have ever wished that you had just a little more head and leg room in your classic
Mustang, then this article will really give you something to think about. Cindy and I own, and have owned,
several early Mustangs. One thing I’ve learned is that you don’t sit exactly the same in any of them. You sit up
in some, down in others, and if you have Pony Interior, it’s even more noticeable. I’m right at 6’ tall and some
early Mustangs fit me great while others are a bit cramped. But one thing is for sure. In all our Mustangs, I
always have to have the drivers seat as far back as it will go!
Yes, us taller Mustang owners face certain problems that most of you don’t. For us, having trouble
getting in and out of the car, tight leg to steering wheel clearance, and sitting with our legs bent at uncomfortable
angles are all part of driving Classic Mustangs. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Moving the seat platform down
closer to the floor will eliminate this problem for good. If you have longer legs, you can also move it backwards,
at the same time! That way, you can sit with your legs straight, not bent up at an awkward angle.
Actually, this seat placement modification came about because my sons, Ron Jr. and Richard are
both 6’4” and there just wasn’t enough head or leg room for either of them to be truly comfortable in their early
Mustangs. We have since done this seat platform modification to several Mustangs with excellent results.
We have also shown many of our friends this trick and they all have thanked us for helping them correct a
problem they felt they would always be faced with. Also, this modification is a must when building a track car
because with a helmet on you have even less head room. Now, follow along as we do our best to show you
how to do this seat platform modification and then let us know what you think!
1.) First of all, many of our customers ask who we have do the work on our Mustangs. The answer is that we
do most of it ourselves! There’s nothing I like better than to spend a couple of hours after work in the shop
just looking at things on the cars and trying to find ways to improve them. David and I have a very nice 8,000
square foot shop where we do research and development for our products, check the parts we sell for proper
fit, and build our race cars. We’ve always got a project going. When we tell you we’re “hands on”, we mean
it! Besides, it’s the perfect place to keep the kids, and our good friend, George Galoosis, off the streets and
out of trouble!

2.) George Galoosis, Mustangs Plus’ resident welder and chief fabricator, already had the right side seat
platform out of the car before I could find my camera and get film into it! First, George marked the platforms
Left and Right with an arrow pointing to the front of the car. This is just so there is no confusion once both
platforms are removed. To remove the platforms, the spot welds on the tunnel and the inside rocker panel
must be either drilled out or cut out. We use a combination of both, but try not to do any more damage than
necessary to the floors. Along the bottoms of the platforms, we simply use a cutting torch to cut across the
bottom, leaving the strip that is spot welded to the floor. The panel can then be lifted out of the car and the
hardest part is over! Believe me, it looks a lot harder to do than it really is!

3.) With both seat platforms out of the car, this picture shows a couple of things. First, you’ll see that we have
measured and drawn a line on the platform marked left (upside down). Second, you’ll notice that we have
already bent a new lip up on the platform marked right (upside down) and you can see how much lower it sits.
We used a long piece of metal as a straight edge and clamped it to the platform, then used a hammer to bend
the edge into the position needed for a proper fit. Do both the front and back edges in this manner.
4.) George checks the fit of the drivers side platform. George’s motto is “measure twice, cut once”! It’s good
advice to follow. Notice that the floor under the platform has been cleaned and primed to prevent rust from
setting in. Remember, this piece is a part of the floor that gives the car strength, so under no circumstances
should it be left out completely!

5.) After the platforms have been fitted, the bottom of them should also be cleaned and primered. If you’re
not doing the job yourself, be sure to talk to the shop who is. All it takes is for a floor pan plug to fall out and
water can get in and eventually rust out the floorboards.
6.) George tacks in the drivers side platform. At this point, you can bolt in your seat and “get the feel” of how
you will fit. If you need to, you can move the platform further back before doing the final welding.

7.) The finished product. The seat platforms have been moved down almost 2”, giving a lot more head room
and drastically improving steering wheel to leg clearance. I know what your next question is. No, the fit of the
carpet is not affected. The platforms are covered by the rear seat area carpet and it will still fit perfectly. The
best part is that once the carpet has been installed, no one will ever know its been done. Unless they sit in
the car, that is!
