Frames, Legs & Corners Construction

The frames are constructed of laminated furniture grade lumber
and some solid wood components.

Our legs are all solid wood from renewable sources.

Cut by CNC routers and specialized panel saws to create a frame
that meets and exceeds all our testing (in our in house lab) and
industry standards and codes.

Corners are reinforced with corner blocks and fastened in place.

Legs are attached with bolts with some using a mitered mortise
and tendon joint which means those legs do not spin.

Inside back cushions are filled with a horizontal baffled bag of cut polyester fibers
that resists settling during the life of the product.

Only two types of seat suspension are used, depending on the styling.

Most styles have attached seats and back cushions for ease of maintenance; in
our Heirloom collection and accent chairs some models have loose seat and back
cushions held in place by strips of hooks and loops (Velcro like).

Simon Li directly sources our leather articles from the finest tanneries.

Luxurious leathers in various colors and grain patterns enrich the look of the
Simon Li models

Leather articles range from .9 to 1.5 mm in thickness, for durability.

All our leathers are semi-aniline hides; a full aniline dyed hide with other
features and finishes processed on the hide to bring out the natural affects
of the hide.

Color treatments or varying color treatments to enhance the aniline hide
are:
 Sauvaging creates contrasting dark and light finish
Padding & Core Construction

All our frames are encapsulated in thin Lauan (a tropical plywood) and are
padded to ensure no wood ever touches our leather or fabrics.

High density Urethane foam at varying *densities.

Our foam cores have an *ILD of 1.8 to 2.0 ILD, depending on the seat’s
shape and height; some seat cores are laminated of pieces of varying
densities to reach the desired support.

Our seat cores are wrapped in either our featherBlend™ a baffled top and
front seat boxing filled with a mix of feathers and cut polyester fibers or a
wrap of bonded polyester padding, for added comfort.

Or wrapped in our cloud9™ seating creates a pillow-like sensation, while
the underlying high density foam core creates support and adapts for a
comfortable seating area. (See next page for more information).
 Tipping will lightly enhance the top grain peaks with added color
 Hand Wiping is a method used to create an antique look by wiping off
a darker top layer of finish to expose a burst of lighter color

Our leathers are hand cut with over 100 pieces of leather sewn together on
some models to go on one of our leather items.

All seams are top stitched, even the outside back and arm panels; some
models have enhanced sewing treatments of luggage type stitching, open
flange welts, contrasting piping, Trapunto paneled areas (picture frame
styled panels) and shaped side panels.

a proprietary seating system consisting of a HD Urethane foam seat
core; encased and topped with a channeled, feather blend (a mixture
of long cut fibers and soft resilient feathers) insert.

The system creates soft and luxurious seating by combining the feather blend and foam supports, creating the ideal comfort.

cloud9™ seating system is found on all our pillow top styles.

This system utilizes a separate pillow insert that is placed in the
sewn in top pillow of the seating area above the foam seat core.

The inserts has sewn channels, filled with a high quality, cut long
staple and crimped (small "zig zags" that act like millions of tiny
springs) polyester fibers for added comfort.

Upon seating cloud9™ seating creates a pillow-like sensation, while
the underlying high density foam core creates support and adapts
for a comfortable seating area


How to Care for our Leathers

Avoid placing the leather under or near direct sun light that could fade the finish.

Keep the leather item away from heat sources that may dry out the natural oils and finish.

Regularly dust off the leather item (when you dust your wood furniture, dust your leather) with a
soft, dry cloth.

Spots or stains can be cleaned by using a lightly damp cloth. Mild soap can be used, if necessary.
Leather cleaners are available and can be used on stubborn areas (be sure to read and follow all
product instructions and test a hidden area before using).

Do not rub the soiled are. Use light, circular motions; working towards the center of the spot or
stain.

Dry immediately after the treatment or cleaning with a dry, soft cloth (preferably white so as not
to transfer any color onto the leather).
