OTTOMAN HISTORY SOURCES DIGITIZATION PROJECT
Digitally photographed old prints
The principal aim of the project is the digitization of old printed source material in the field of Ottoman
history. It includes original prints in Ottoman language from the period 1729-1928: narrative histories
and chronicles; language, biographical, and geographical dictionaries; collections of documents; state
and regional yearbooks (devlet & vilayet salnameleri), as well as secondary sources of out of print
publications, which may serve as an easy-to-use assistance-kit to the student of the Ottoman world.
The following series are in progress: Ottoman prints (OHSDP - Series Historiographica
Originalium); secondary sources, historiographical studies, journals, i.e. TOEM (OHSDP - Series
Historiographica); prints of geographical character, such as geographies and travel-accounts (OHSDP Series Geographica); manuscript catalogues, dictionaries, encyclopedic material, ancillary historical
sciences (OHSDP - Series Ancilla); finally state and regional yearbooks (OHSDP - Series Salname).
New series of old prints on Byzantine and Modern Greek history (OHSDP - Series Byzantina et
Graeca), the history of navigation and cartography (OHSDP – Series Nautica et Cartographica), travel
literature (OHSDP – Series Peregrenationum), and various (OHSDP – Series Variorum) are recently
introduced.
The printed editions are reproduced in digital photographs (JPEG Images) of the original pages.
The format of the media is either CD or DVD.
