KOLEJ UNIVERSITI TEKNIKAL KEBANGSAAN MALAYSIA
1.1
BACKGROUND KUTKM
ASMALIANA.COM
Kolej Universiti Teknikal Kebangsaan Malaysia (KUTKM) was established on December 1, 2000.
It was established under Section 20 of the University and University College Act 1971 (Act 30)
under the Orders of Kolej Universiti Teknikal Kebangsaan Malaysia (Incorporated) 2001. KUTKM
is a PUBLIC UNIVERSITY (IPTA). It is a pioneer in the use of the "Practice and Application
Oriented"teaching and learning method for technical education in Malaysia.
This is in accordance with the government’s decision to cater for the human resource need of
Malaysia’s industries.
The university currently operates from its temporary campus at Jalan T.U. 2 and 3, Taman Tasek
Utama, Ayer Keroh, Melaka. It is also constructing its permanent campus at Bukit Senandung 1
and 2, Durian Tunggal, Melaka. The 725-acre new campus is expected to be ready by 2005.
KUTKM has five faculties namely Electrical Engineering, Electronic and Computer Engineering,
Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Information and Communication
Technologies. There are two academic centres being the Academic Service Centre and the
University-Industry Centre (UNIC). An institute, the Institute for Technology Management and
Entrepreneurship, was also established to offer post-graduate programmes on technology
management and entrepreneurship.
The university offer academic programmes at diploma, bachelor, masters and PhD levels. The
university aims to produce professionals who are not only highly qualified and technically
competent but are also highly skillful and efficient.

COURSE
1.5.1
Diploma in Electrical Engineering
Go slow and steady by taking the Diploma of Electrical Engineering course. While
people may have thought that it is better to directly undergo the Bachelor degree
course, it is actually safer and easier to take diploma degree first. Then, after
finishing the diploma course, you may jump into work life as a technical assistant,
electrician etc. or you may opt to further your education to the Bachelor of
Electrical Engineering level. But of course, be wise and patient and choose the
latter as higher education promises more opportunity.

B.Eng in Electrical Engineering
(Mechatronics Engineering)
Mechatronics provides interdisciplinary engineering fields of electrical and
electronic, mechanical, control and computer engineering. Look around and you’ll
find that there are so many things that can be categorized as mechatronics design
such as anti-lock braking systems, automatic gate systems, digital cameras, video
players, cd- players and washing machines. Graduates of this course have a great
opportunity
to
work in research & development sectors that produce mechatronics products and
in industries where mechatronics are applied.

M.Sc in Electrical Engineering (by research)
This programme will run for an optimum period of 24 months but it can be reduced
to 18 months once all the research objectives have been achieved. Research in
our faculty includes the area of Power System & Industrial Application, Power
Electronic & Drive, Control, Instrumentation & Automation and Electric Machine.
We offer programs that will not only improve your reseach skills and methodology
but also research topics that are closely related and applicable to the industry. You

THE PRIMARY SCHOOL
The Primary School and kindergarten provides a structured environment in which the child is
encouraged to become confident, socially adaptable and self-disciplined, in a happy and playful
atmosphere. Of paramount importance for healthy growing up is the child's social development:
learning to share, to work and play, and to accept the wider needs of the group. Time is set for
individual work, which includes practical life exercises especially designed to encourage
concentration, co-ordination and independence. As the children mature they are introduced to
various graded exercises to develop language and number concepts.
The child develops in a family-like atmosphere, where emphasis is placed on personal
responsibility and serious work. Children are encouraged to give of their best.
The British Curriculum, planned as an integrated whole, together with extra-curricular activities,
combine
to
give
the
pupil
a
good
foundation
for
secondary
education.
There is a continuous assessment system and progress reports are given twice a year. In
addition, teachers are available to parents at special parents' meetings and whenever the need
arises.
3.
THE SECONDARY SCHOOL
The Secondary School Curriculum at MIS is directed towards the Cambridge Certificate
Examinations. Group and personal advice on career choice are provided throughout the year.
Students are helped towards developing a critical sense and clarity of thought. The staff works in
close contact with parents. Students take examinations in all subjects during the year and
progress reports are sent to parents at the end of each term. Parents are always welcome to meet
the staff, individually and at parent-teacher meetings.

Vision
To develop MIDAS Group of Colleges for International Recognition with Quality education and
training.
Mission
To provide quality education with latest technological training for youths to become qualified
Engineers and highly skilled professionals to serve the Malaysian Industries in order to meet the
challenges of global requirements.
History
MIDAS was established in 1986 in Seremban , Malaysia. The institute had only 42 students to
pursue engineering and certificate courses. But within 2 years, the student population had
increased to 220.
Since its inception, MIDAS holds the objective to never compromise on the quality of education,
the industries started to absorb MIDAS graduates as the country needed more graduates for the
industrial revolution.
Understanding the growing need and to generate a larger pool of semi-professional and
professional work force, MIDAS started the branch in the southern region-Johor Bahru in 1992
and another in the northern region – Butterworth.
MIDAS students had also been admitted into many national and foreign universities to pursue
the degree programs and thus embarking a global presence.
To meet the constant need of human resource and to cater to the average/middle income group
of families, MIDAS further branched out in Melaka, Petaling Jaya, Batu Pahat and Kuantan.
