George Tjungurrayi wurde ca. 1943 in der Wüste in der Nähe von Kiwirrkura geboren. Zunächst lebte er in
Mukula westlich von Kiwirrkura. Eines Tages lief er dann mit einem anderen jungen Mann an einer frisch
eingeebneten Straße entlang nach Papunya.
George begann in den frühen 80er Jahren für Papunya Tula Artists zu malen. Er ist der jüngere Bruder von
Naata Nungurrayi.
AUSZEICHNUNGEN
George wurde vom Australian Art Collector (Januar - März Ausgabe) im Jahre 2003 als einer der 50 sammelwürdigsten Künstler Australiens ausgezeichnet.
