Since 1949 the developing and manufacturing of house service boxes, cable distribution cabinets and cable accessories up to 145 kV is a core business of the nkt cables site
in N
ordenham, which is located in the north of Germany. We
have been and stil are one of the world market leaders in cable
distribution cabinets with a huge experience in manufacturing
cabinets and house service boxes for low-voltage applications
as well as cable accessories for medium and high-voltage
applications.
Gehäusetechnik
Cabinets
Seit 1949 werden im Norden von Deutschland, ca. 70 km
nördlich von Bremen, an unserem Standort Nordenham
Kabelverteilerschränke, Hausanschlusskästen und Systemschränke für Niederspannung sowie Kabelgarnituren für den
Mittelspannungsbereich gefertigt.
Entwicklung der Kabelverteilerschränke
Die Felten & Guilleaume Carlswerk AG (F&G) als Vorläufer der
heutigen nkt cables stellte 1955 das erste Gehäuse eines
Kabelverteilerschranks aus glasfaserverstärktem ungesättigtem Polyesterharz (GFK) vor. Anfang der sechziger Jahre
wurde mit der Umstellung auf das neu aufkommende Verfahren
der Harzmattentechnik begonnen. Basierend auf der neuen
Technologie, entwickelte F&G die Baureihe 000/100. Die kontinuierliche Weiterentwicklung der Materialien zusammen mit
namhaften Herstellern von Rohmaterial sowie die sich verändernden technischen Anforderungen veranlassten F&G zu weiteren Produktentwicklungen.

Entwicklung der Hausanschlusskästen
In den zwanziger Jahren entwickelte und produzierte die
Firma F&G als Vorläufer der heutigen nkt cables GmbH den
ersten Hausanschlusskasten in Deutschland aus Gusseisen.
Infolge kontinuierlicher Weiterentwicklung der Materialien sowie der Bauform wurde Anfang der sechziger Jahre der erste
Hausanschlusskasten aus GFK hergestellt. nkt cables ist
heute ein führender Anbieter von Hausanschlusskästen und
Kabelverteilerschränken auf dem deutschen Markt.
Development of cable distribution cabinets
In 1955 nkt cables was the first manufacturer of a glass fibre
reinforced polyester (GRP) cable distribution cabinet. In the
beginning of the 1960s a conversion to the new and upcoming
process of sheet moulding technology had started. Based on
these new technologies nkt cables developed the series
000/100. Continuous enhancements of material and coope
ration with renowned raw material manufacturers as well as
changing technical requirements have been the basis for
further product developments.

Development of house service boxes
In the 1920s nkt cables developed and manufactured the
first cast iron house service box. Continuous development of
both material and design enabled nkt cables in the 1960s
to produce the first house service box made of glass fibre
reinforced polyester. nkt cables is now among the leading
manufacturers of house service boxes and cable distribution
cabinets in Germany.
High flexibility created by having own in-house toolmaking department
nkt cables has the possibility to manufacture GRP and silicone moulds according to customer requests with short time
frames. By using multiaxial machines even very complex
mould designs can be made. Longtime experience and steady
on and off-the-job-training enables our employees to solve difficult and apparently unsolvable mould designs. Designing the
moulds on modern CAD work stations allows simulations on
moulds and final parts. A continuously integrated 3D concept
helps to reduce mess and scrap to a minimum. The completed moulds have therefore a very short running-in period. In
between placing the order and receiving the finished product
you can expect very short lead times and optimized service.

Zeit nach Ihren Wünschen. Mittels des mehrachsigen Bearbeitungszentrums können auch komplexe Formen mühelos
erstellt werden. Dank langjähriger Erfahrungen und stetige
Weiterbildung der nkt cables Mitarbeiter sind auch scheinbar
unlösbare und außergewöhnliche Formgebungen möglich.
Aufgrund der Konstruktion der Werkzeuge auf modernen
CAD-Arbeitsplätzen können die Formen und die fertigen Bauteile simuliert werden. Dank des durchgängigen 3D-Konzepts
werden Ausschüsse und Fehlschüsse auf ein Minimum reduziert, die fertigen Werkzeuge haben dementsprechend eine
sehr kurze Einfahrzeit. Zwischen Auftragserteilung und dem
fertigen Bauteil entstehen so nur kurze Durchlaufzeiten und
geringe Kosten für Sie.

In nkt cables training rooms, we transmit handling of
our products, new skills and knowledge to work settings by
theoretical and practical knowledge training. The training
can also be proceeding on site and according to your

Cabinets series 400 are the advanced successors of the well
proven series 300. The dimensions of series 400 are in accordance with requirements of the German standards
DIN 43629 part 1, part 2 and part 3. Series 400 is available in
DIN sizes 00, 0, 1 and 2. It can be mounted without limitation
on bases with dimensions according to DIN 43629 part 2. In all
respect series 400 complies with the electrical and mechanical
requirements of European standard EN 61439-5 (DIN VDE
0660-600-5) and IEC 439 respectively. As basic material for
the cabinets we use a glass fibre-reinforced polyester (SMC),
type 833.5 according to DIN16913. The protection degree of
the standard version is IP34D (= IP43/44) according to DIN EN
60529. An increase up to IP54 is possible.
With its latest design features as well as with the flexible and
customer orientated equipment options the series 400 is one
of the most popular cabinet ranges in the market.

Baureihe 400
Schränke der Baureihe 400 sind die weiterentwickelten
Nachfolger der bewährten Baureihe 300. Die Abmessungen
der Baureihe 400 sind in Übereinstimmung mit der
DIN 43629 Teil 1, Teil 2 und Teil 3. Die Baureihe 400 ist in
den DIN-Größen 00, 0, 1 und 2 erhältlich. Sie kann ohne
Einschränkungen auf Sockel montiert werden, die gemäß
DIN 43629 Teil 2 hergestellt wurden. Die Baureihe 400
entspricht in allen Punkten den mechanischen und elektrischen Anforderungen der Europäischen Norm EN 61439-5
(DIN VDE 0660-600-5) bzw. der IEC 439. Das verwendete
Basismaterial der Kabelverteilerschränke ist ein glasfaserverstärktes Polyester (SMC), vom Typ 833.5 gemäß
DIN 16913. Die Schutzklasse entspricht in der Standardausführung IP34D (= IP43/44) nach DIN EN 60529. Eine Schutzgraderhöhung auf IP54 ist möglich.
Bei der Entwicklung dieser Schrankbaureihe wurde besonderer Wert auf die flexible, kundenspezifische Ausbaufähigkeit
gelegt. Dadurch wurde die Baureihe 400 zu einer der populärsten Schrankbaureihen auf dem Markt.

Die Schränke sind in den DIN-Größen 00, 0, 1 und 2 erhältlich
wobei Schränke der Größen 00, 0 und 1 mit einer Einfachtür
und Schränke der Größe 2 mit einer Doppeltür geliefert werden (für Größe 1 auf Anfrage). Asymmetrische Türteilungen
für DIN-Größe 1 und 2 sind ebenfalls Teil unseres Produktprogramms. Alle Schrankteile sind durch selbstschneidende
Schrauben miteinander verbunden, das GFK-Material enthält
keine eingepressten Metallteile. Dadurch wird eine 100%ige
Recyclingfähigkeit der GFK-Teile erreicht. Sollbruchstellen
des Schranks im Bereich der Verbindung Schrank zu Sockel
sind dafür ausgelegt, im Fall von äußerer Krafteinwirkung auf
den Schrank (z.B. durch einen Verkehrsunfall) eine Beschädigung des Sockels zu verhindern, um aufwendige Erdarbeiten
vermeiden zu können.
Weitere konstruktive Merkmale sind:
• Schränke können ohne Zwischenräume
aneinandergereiht werden
• 180° Türöffnungswinkel (135° bei angereihten Schränken)
• Schutzgrad IP44 (optional in IP54 möglich)
• Türen lassen sich leicht und werkzeuglos aus- und
einbauen. Der Umbau von Rechts- auf Linksanschlag ist
jederzeit möglich
• Nachrüstsatz zur Erhöhung der Berstsicherheit
(Störlichtbogen)
• Weitreichendes Zubehör wie z.B. Montageplatten oder
Traggerüste aus sendzimirverzinktem Stahlblech sind
erhältlich
The cabinets are available in the DIN sizes 00, 0, 1 and 2 where
cabinets of size 00, 0 and 1 are fitted with a one-wing door and
size 2 with a double-wing door (for size 1 on request). Asymmetric door splits for DIN sizes 1 and 2 are also part of the product
range. All cabinet components and interior can be fitted
with self-cutting screws without any integrated metal parts.
Therefore it is possible to fully recycle series 400 cabinet
parts. Predetermined breaking points premoulded at the fixing
points between cabinet and base shall break in case of physical force. A damage of the base and the consequent digging
work is thus avoided.
Additional features to be highlighted are:
• Gap-free connection of cabinets next to each other.
• 180° door opening angle (135° if cabinets are located
side by side)
• Protection degree of IP44 which could be upgraded up to IP54
• Removable hinge pins allow easy, tool-free installation
and deinstallation of the doors, including a change from
left to right hand opening
• Upgrade kit for extended bursting safety (accidental arcing
protection) which could also be retrofitted is available.

made of galvanized steel are available

Series 400
The cabinets of the well proven series 300 are in accordance
with requirements of the German standards DIN 43629 part 1,
part 2 and part 3. Series 300 is available in DIN sizes 00, 0, 1
and 2. It can be mounted without limitation on bases with dimensions according to DIN 43629 part 2. In all respects series
300 complies with the electrical and mechanical requirements
of European standard EN 61439-5 (DIN VDE 0660-600-5)
and IEC 439 respectively. The protection degree of the standard version is IP34D (= IP43/44) according to DIN EN 60529.
An increase up to IP54 is possible.
During the development of this cabinet range it was of particular importance to design a cabinet with very high stability and
to allow a flexible and customer-specific expandability.
The cabinets are available in the DIN sizes 00, 0, 1 and 2 where
cabinets of size 00, 0 and 1 are fitted with a one-wing door
and size 2 with a double-wing door (for size 1 on request).
Asymmetric door splits for DIN sizes 1 and 2 are also part of
the p
roduct range.
In addition to the standard height, series 300 is also available
in higher versions with a height of 1.100 or 1.250 mm.
DIN sizes 0, 1 and 2 can also be supplied in a 478 mm deep
version. As a matter of course there are also pedestals for this
deeper version available.
Additional features to be highlighted are:
• Protection degree of IP44 which could be upgraded
up to IP54

Die Schränke der lange Jahre bewährten Baureihe 300 werden in Übereinstimmung mit der DIN 43629 Teil 1, Teil 2 und
Teil 3 gefertigt. Die Baureihe 300 ist in den DIN-Größen 00, 0,
1 und 2 erhältlich. Sie kann ohne Einschränkungen auf Sockel
montiert werden welche nach DIN 43629 Teil 2 hergestellt
wurden. Die Baureihe 300 entspricht in allen Punkten den
mechanischen und elektrischen Anforderungen der Europäischen Norm EN 61439-5 (DIN VDE 0660-600-5) bzw. der IEC
439. Die Schutzklasse entspricht in der Standardausführung
IP34D (= IP43/44) nach DIN EN 60529. Eine Schutzgraderhöhung auf IP54 ist möglich.

Die Baureihe 300 steht zusätzlich zur Standardhöhe ebenfalls
in erhöhten Ausführungen mit 1.100 sowie 1.250 mm Höhe zur
Verfügung. Die DIN-Größen 0, 1 und 2 können auch in 478 mm
tiefer Ausführung geliefert werden. Selbstverständlich stehen
für diese tiefen Ausführungen auch die passenden Sockel zur
Verfügung.

Als Gehäusewerkstoff wird glasfaserverstärktes Polyesterharz
(SMC – Sheet Moulding Compound) verwendet. Dieses Material ist korrosionsbeständig, isolierend und sehr widerstandsfähig
gegen mechanische Beanspruchungen bei geringem Eigengewicht. Die technischen Daten des Materials können der untenstehenden Tabelle entnommen werden.

Die Sammelschienensets beinhalten das benötigte Befestigungsmaterial zur Montage der Schienen in den jeweiligen
Schranktypen.
The busbar sets contain the required fixing material to
install the busbars into the mentioned cabinets.
The maximum ampacity of the busbars represents in dependence of the cross section at:
30 x 5 mm = 420 A / 30 x 6 = 490 A /
30 x 8 mm = 630 A / 40 x 10 mm = 850 A.
Die maximale Strombelastbarkeit der Sammelschienen
beträgt abhängig vom Querschnitt bei:

During design of your cabinet the maximum acceptable power
loss of the respective cabinet has to be considered. (see
below).

Entwicklung der Hausanschlusskästen
In den zwanziger Jahren entwickelte und produzierte die
Firma F&G als Vorläufer der heutigen nkt cables den ersten
Hausanschlusskasten in Deutschland aus Gusseisen. Infolge
kontinuierlicher Weiterentwicklung der Materialien sowie der
Bauform wurde Anfang der sechziger Jahre der erste
Haus
anschlusskasten aus GFK hergestellt. nkt cables ist
heute ein führender Anbieter von Hausanschlusskästen und
Kabelverteilerschränken.
Ausführungen
Bei den Gehäusen spricht man von zwei unterschiedlichen
Typen. Diese unterscheiden sich wie folgt:
KH00
für NH00-Sicherungen
(Sonderausführungen möglich)
KH1
je nach Ausführung für NH1- oder NH2-Sicherungen
Alle Hausanschlusskästen entsprechen der DIN 43627 sowie
der DIN VDE 0660-505. Zusätzlich steht eine große Auswahl
an Zubehör für diese Typen zur Verfügung. Speziell für die
KH00-Variante bieten wir einen Wandeinbaurahmen in unterschiedlichsten Ausführungen an.

History of house service boxes
In the 1920s, F&G as the predecessor of today’s nkt cables
GmbH developed and manufactured in Germany the first
cast-iron house service box. Continuous development of both
material and design, enabled F&G in the 1960s to produce the
first glass fibre-reinforced Polyester (GRP) house service box.
nkt cables today is among the leading manufacturers of house
service boxes and cable distribution cabinets in Germany.
Types
Within the range of house service boxes we are talking about
two principal types:
KH00
for NH00 fuses (special versions possible)
KH1
depending on design either for NH1 or NH2 fuses
(special versions possible)
Als Gehäusewerkstoff wird glasfaserverstärktes Polyesterharz
(BMC – Bulk Moulded Compound) verwendet. Dieses Material
ist korrosionsbeständig, isolierend und sehr widerstandsfähig
gegen mechanische Beanspruchungen. Die technischen Daten
des Materials können der untenstehenden Tabelle entnommen
werden.

All house service boxes are compliant with DIN 43627 as well
as DIN VDE 0660-505. In addition there is a wide range
of accessories available for these types. Especially for the
KH00 version nkt cables offers a wall mounting frame in
different variants.

KH00 – for NH00 fuses

Hausanschlusskästen KH00 bis 100 A
Within the basic enclosure (KH00) there is a distinction
into two different models:
The standard box has got a cable bushing at the top as well as
two blind insertions at the left and at the right side. At the bottom end the enclosure offers either one or two cable bushings
The outdoor enclosure („Regenkragen-HAK“) is completely
closed at the top and side walls and offers two cable bushings
at the bottom. Dimensions and the modular enclosure bottom
are identical with the KH00. The top cover of the enclosure
as well as the casing is made of BMC polyester resin in
RAL 7035, it is also available with a clear cover made of
polycarbonate.
House service boxes KH00 up to 100 A
Within the touch-protection covers you could choose between
a “utility cover” and a slidable complete cover. The “utility cover” (RAL 7035) is going to be positioned and sealed over the
feeding area after the feeding cable has been installed. If the
HSB is going to be operated it will be replaced again and
parked within the cover. The slidable complete cover is transparent and covers the utility area as well as the consumers
area. It is possible to slide the upper part above the fuse area
and seal it in this position. The modular base of the enclosure
enables to implement different built-in versions. This property
also takes advantage if the enclosure is going to be used
empty for other applications.
House service box according to DIN 43627. Casing made
of BMC polyester resin Typ 803, EN 14598-3 (DIN 16911).
Type test report according to DIN VDE 0660 part 505 is
available. The requirements according to degree of protection IP54 (EN 60529) are fulfilled. In addition, the house
service boxes are designed for a continuous operation with
100 A what furthermore qualifies them for feeding renewable
power to the public grid.

KH00 – für NH00-Sicherungen
Kabel-Hausanschlusskasten nach DIN 43627. Gehäuse aus
Polyesterharz-Formmasse Typ 803, EN 14598-3 (DIN 16911).
Typprüfbericht nach DIN VDE 0660 Teil 505 liegt vor. Anforderungen gemäß Schutzart IP54 nach EN 60529 werden erfüllt. Zudem sind die Hausanschlusskästen für eine Dauer
belastbarkeit mit 100 A ausgelegt, was sie zusätzlich auch
für Anwendungen mit Einspeisung von regenerativ erzeugter
Energie qualifiziert.
Beim Grundgehäuse (KH00) wird zwischen zwei Varianten
unterschieden:
Das Standardgehäuse hat eine Kabeldurchführung oben sowie links und rechts je zwei Blindeinführungen. Unten besitzt
das Gehäuse je nach Verwendungszweck eine oder zwei
Kabeldurchführung/en. Das Außengehäuse (RegenkragenHAK) ist oben und seitlich komplett geschlossen und besitzt
unten zwei Kabeldurchführungen. Abmessungen und der modulare Gehäuseboden sind identisch mit KH00. Den Deckel
gibt es wie das Gehäuse aus Polyesterharz-Formmasse in RAL
7035 sowie als Klarsichtdeckel aus Polycarbonat.
Bei den Berührschutz-Abdeckungen kann zwischen der EVUAbdeckung und der schiebbaren Gesamtabdeckung gewählt
werden. Die EVU-Abdeckung (RAL 7035) wird nach dem Anschluss der Zuleitung über den Zugangsbereich gesetzt und
plombiert. Bei Inbetriebnahme des HAK wird diese wieder
entfernt und im Deckel deponiert. Die schiebbare Gesamtabdeckung ist klarsichtig und deckt sowohl den EVU-Teil als
auch den Konsumentenraum ab. Es ist möglich, den oberen
Teil über den Sicherungsbereich zu schieben und zu plombieren. Dank des modularen Gehäusebodens ist es möglich, unterschiedlichste Einbauvarianten zu realisieren. Diese
Eigenschaft kommt natürlich auch einer Verwendung als Leergehäuse zugute.

In this case the built-in box is inserted flush into the brickwork.
Also the frame is inserted flush into the brickwork. The plug-in
door could be pasted with quarter bricks or plastered. So the
flush-mounting frame gets integrated into the brickwork more
or less invisible.
Flush-mounting frame to cover KH00 house service boxes. All
flush-mounting frames consist of a heat-insulating built-in box,
a stainless steel frame and a cover frame with plug-in door
made of BMC polyester resin (RAL 7035) (on request to be
coated in all RAL colours). For the frames you could choose
from two different variations.

Wandeinbaurahmen zur Aufnahme von KH00-Gehäusen.
Alle Wandeinbaurahmen bestehen aus einer wärmegedämmten Einbaukiste sowie einem Edelstahlgestell und einem Abdeckrahmen mit Stecktür aus Polyesterharz-Formmasse in
RAL 7035 (auf Wunsch in jedem RAL-Ton lackierbar). Bei den
Rahmen kann zwischen zwei verschiedenen Varianten gewählt werden.

Kabel-Hausanschlusskästen nach DIN 43627.
Gehäuse und Deckel aus Polyesterharz-Formmasse Typ 803,
EN 14598-3 (DIN 16911) im Farbton RAL 7035. Typprüfbericht
nach DIN VDE 0660 Teil 505 liegt vor. Anforderungen gemäß
Schutzart IP54 nach EN 60529 werden erfüllt. Der Deckel ist
auf Wunsch mit Sichtfenster im Bereich der Sicherungseinsätze ausrüstbar. Verschraubt wird der Deckel mit zwei Verschlussschrauben 8 mm Vierkant (mit Schlitz), plombierbar.
Das Gehäuse bietet eine Vielzahl von Kabeleinführungen.
Nicht benötigte Einführungen werden durch Blindeinschübe
verschlossen.
Max. Belegung:
Zwei Kabelzugänge unten und je ein Kabelzugang links und
rechts mit je einer Kabelabfangschelle. Drei Kabelabgänge
nach oben sowie je einer nach links und rechts. Zusätzlich
gibt es eine Vielzahl an Ausbrechöffnungen im Gehäuse zum
nachträglichen Einsetzen von PG16/M20-Verschraubungen.
EVU- bzw. Berührschutz-Abdeckungen sind aus glasklarem
Polykarbonat, plombierbar. Das KH1-Gehäuse ist für eine
Spitzenlast von 400 A und eine Dauerlast bis zu 355 A geprüft
und freigegeben.
Max. number of inlets:
Two cable entries at the bottom and one each from the left
and right lower side with cable fixing clamps. Three cable outlets at the top and one each to the upper left and right. In addition to this there is a large number of pre-cut holes where
PG16/M20 cable glands could be fitted subsequently. Utility
cover respectively protection cover are made from trans
parent polycarbonate, sealable. The KH1-HSB (house s ervice
box) is tested and approved up to a peak load of 400 A and
is designed for a continuous operation (constant load) of up
to 355 A.
House service boxes according to DIN 43627.
Box body and cover are made of polyester resin type 803
according to EN 14598-3 (DIN 16911) in colour RAL 7035.
Type test report according to DIN VDE 0660 part 505 is avail
able. The requirements according to degree of protection
IP54 (EN 60529) are fulfilled. On request the cover could be
equipped with a transparent window in the area of the fuse
inserts. The cover is locked by two locking screws 8 mm

square (slotted), sealable. The box offers a huge number of
cable entry glands. Not required enterings could be covered
by blind grommets.

Applications
Zähleranschlusssäulen
Zähleranschlusssäulen sind besonders geeignet für die Anwendungen im Freien. Freizeitanlagen aller Art, ob Erholungsoder andere Einrichtungen, aber auch einzelne Gebäude können sinnvoll und kostengünstig über hier angebotenen
Zähleranschlusssäulen versorgt werden. Der Vorteil gegenüber einem herkömmlichen Hausanschluss ist die freie Zugänglichkeit für den Versorger und den Betreiber. Die Zähleranschlusssäulen entsprechen im Aufbau den Forderungen der
TAB der jeweiligen VNB. Hauptbestandteile sind der Zugangsraum, der untere und der obere Anschlussraum, der/die Zählerplätze und der TSG-Platz. Die Anlagen sind komplett verdrahtet, wobei das TSG-Feld je nach Kundenwunsch nicht,
teilweise oder aber ebenfalls komplett verdrahtet ist.

Straßenbeleuchtungssäulen
Bei den Straßenbeleuchtungssäulen wird die gleiche Gehäusetechnik wie bei den Zähleranschlusssäulen verwendet! Der
VNB-Teil der Straßenbeleuchtungssäulen entspricht prinzipiell immer dem Aufbau der Zähleranschlusssäulen. Nur mit
Zulassung der jeweiligen VNB kann eine Änderung erwirkt
werden. Bei der Steuerung wird prinzipiell zwischen Direktund Fortschaltung unterschieden, wobei die Direktschaltung
immer Anschlüsse für die Fortschaltung umfasst.

Vorrangig kommt dabei der Schranktyp KH474 zum Einsatz,
aber auch alle anderen Typen sind je nach Anwendungsfall
möglich. Weiterhin unterscheidet man dann zwischen Nacht-,
Halbnacht- und Halbnachtschaltung mit Leistungsabsenkung.
Auf der Abgangsseite kann zwischen 2, 4, 6 und 8 Abgängen
gewählt werden. Auch dabei sind andere Konfigurationen je
nach Absprache möglich.
Verkehrsschränke
Jede Signalanlage wird elektronisch gesteuert, und gerade
moderne, empfindliche Computersteuerungen brauchen einen besonderen Schutz. Besonders wichtig ist aber ein reichhaltiges Zubehör: Um z.B. bei einem Unfall die Ampel manuell
auf Gelblicht umzuschalten, hat die Polizei einen Extrazugang: die „Polizeiklappe“. Dadurch sind die Grundeinstellungen über einen zusätzlichen Zugang einfach erreichbar, ohne
dass die Computeranlage versehentlich verstellt werden kann.
Beheizbare und ventilationsbelüftete Schränke sorgen für ein
ausgewogenes, feuchtigkeitsarmes Klima in den Schränken.
Doppelzylinderschlösser, Schaltschranktaschen und Innenbeleuchtungen runden das weitere Zubehörprogramm ab.
Street lighting pillars
With the street lighting pillars the same cabinet technology is
going to be used as for the metering pillars. The utility section
of the street lighting pillar equates in principal always to the
setup of the metering pillar of the relevant utility region. Within
the control mode it is in principle distinguished between direct
switching and stepping, whereas the direct switching always
contains the connections for stepping.

Primarily the cabinet type KH474 is used for this application
but also all other types could be used depending on application. Furthermore it is differentiated between night, half-night
and half-night switching with power reduction. The outgoing
side could be equipped with 2, 4, 6 or 8 outlets. But also other
configurations are possible on agreement.
Traffic control cabinets
Each signaling system is electronically controlled and precisely these modern and sensitive computer-controlled devices
require particular protection. Of particular importance is the
availability of a wide range of accessories. In order to e.g.
manually switch to yellow light after a car accident, the police
requires a separate access to the cabinet: the police flap. Via
this, the basic settings could be programmed without offering
the possibility to readjust the computer setting accidentally.
Temperature-controlled and ventilated cabinets provide an
well-balanced and dehydrated climate. Double locking systems, wiring diagram holder and internal cabinet lighting put
the finishing touch to the wide range of accessories.

Metering pillars are particularly suitable for outdoor applications.
Leisure facilities of all kind whether recreational or other facilities, but also individual buildings could be metered by the
nkt cables metering pillars. The advantage compared to a
conventional house supply is the free access for utility and
operator. Metering pillars have to be in accordance with the
technical specifications of the utility company. The essential
parts are the feeding zone, the lower and upper connecting
area, the metering place(s) and the space for tariff control devices (TSG). The pillars are wired up completely whereas the
TSG panel could, depending on customers’ request, be either
unwired, partial or completely wired up.

EMV-Schränke
Aufgrund der immer komplexer werdenden elektronischen
Einbauten steigt der Bedarf an Schränken, die einen EMVSchutz (EMV = Elektromagnetische Verträglichkeit) gewährleisten. Bei nkt cables Schränken und Gehäusen aus
nichtleitendem und isolierendem Kunststoff kann dieser EMVSchutz durch eine innen aufgebrachte, leitfähige Lackierung
auf Kupferbasis erreicht werden. Somit kann die Funktion
eines Faraday’schen Käfigs auch bei den leichteren und
schutzisolierten Schränken aus GFK-Material erzielt werden.
Boots- und Campingverteiler
Die Boots- und Campingverteiler sind in verschiedenen
Ausführungen gängig, mit außenliegenden Steckdosen oder
mit Steckdosen hinter einer verschließbaren Tür. Dank der
Schutzklasse IP44 oder IP54 sind auch extreme Witterungen
zu meistern. Die Boots- und Campingverteiler werden je nach
Wunsch mit oder ohne Zähler geliefert.

Ob Bestückung mit LSA-Blöcken, 19”-Racks, Splice-Boxen
für Glasfaseranwendungen oder Metallgerüsten für KabelTV-Anwendungen, in nkt cables großem Schrankprogramm

Kommunikationsbereich. Bei erhöhten Verlustleistungen der

cabinets from nkt cables could be customized and equipped
individually. In consequence of our wide range of accessories
new and clever solutions move into the distribution technology.
So by the use of the festivalentry an additional cable could
easily be connected without disconnecting the plug from the
cable or re-tailoring. The cable with plug could easily be pushed through the festivalentry and connected to the socket inside the cabinet. A sliding mechanism secured with a knurledhead screw at the festivalentry provides that no unauthorized
people or objects get access to the inside of the cabinet.
Marina and campground cabinets
The marina and campground cabinets are available in a large
variety of designs with plugs fitted at the outside of the cabinet
or behind the lockable door. With the protection degree of either
IP44 or IP54 also extreme climate conditions could be coped.
The marina and campground cabinets could be supplied,
depending on customer requests, either with or without metre.
Optional varnishing increases the resistance against UV radiation if located close to the reflecting sea.

EMC-cabinets
With the increasing demand for more and more complex
electronic components being build into cabinets, also the
demand cabinets offering EMC protection (EMC = Electromagnetic Compatibility) is increasing. At nkt cables cabinets and pillars, which are produced out of insulating and
nonconductive GRP (glasfiber-reinforced polyester) material, this EMC protection could be achieved by a conductive varnishing (copper based) at the inside of the cabinet
combined with a metallic gasket system. So the function of
a faraday cage could also be provided at a lightweight and
double insulated cabinet made of GRP material.

Ohne Strom keine Feier, ohne Energie kein kaltes Bier. Das
gilt umso mehr, seit Schausteller bei Fahrgeschäften mit dreistelligen Anschlusswerten aufwarten. Markt- und Festplatzverteiler von nkt cables werden individuell konfiguriert und
ausgebaut. Dank des reichhaltigen Zubehörs halten raffinierte Lösungen Einzug in die Verteilertechnik. So kann mithilfe
der Festplatzeinführung schnell und einfach ein zusätzliches
Kabel ohne Neukonfektionierung oder Aufschrauben des
Steckers eingeführt werden. Der Verschlussschieber wird
mit einer Rändelschraube gesichert, das Eindringen von
Fremdteilen wird somit sicher verhindert.

Applications
Stromwandler-Zählerschränke
Der Stromverbrauch großer Anlagen kann technisch bedingt
nicht durch direkte Zählung gemessen werden. Oberhalb von
63 A bzw. 100 A ist es notwendig, den Verbrauch unter Zuhilfenahme eines Stromwandlers zu bestimmen. Dabei gibt
es zwei grundlegende Varianten, die dazugehörigen Schränke auszuführen. Die gängigste Form ist, Stromwandler und
Zähler platzsparend in einem einzigen Gehäuse zu kombinieren. Oder aber die Bereiche Trennen/Stromwandeln und
Strommessen werden räumlich separiert und diese in zwei
aneinander angeflanschten Einzelgehäusen untergebracht.
Das breite Spektrum an verfügbaren Schränken und Säulen eignet sich sowohl für 4- und 5-Leiter-Systeme als auch
für Anwendungen im Photovoltaikbereich. Dabei können die
Stromwandler-Zähler-Lösungen sowohl als Systemschränke
als auch in Form von Säulen ausgeführt werden.

Hausanschlusssäulen
Hausanschlusssäulen (HAS) sind eine perfekte Alternative zu
den sonst üblichen Hausanschlusskästen (HAK), wenn aufgrund beengter Raumverhältnisse der Hausanschluss aus
dem Gebäude nach außen verlegt werden muss. Beispielsweise wenn keine Kellerräume zur Verfügung stehen oder
aber der Hauswirtschaftsraum sehr kompakt ausgeführt wurde. Dabei bietet die Hausanschlusssäule eine solide Schutzhülle zur Aufnahme eines HAK oder einer Sicherungsleiste im
Außenbereich. Die HAS in Außenaufstellung bietet darüber hinaus den Vorteil, dass der Energieversorger jederzeit Zugriff
darauf hat und auch die Feuerwehren im Falle einer notwendigen Löschung die Stromzufuhr direkt von außen unterbrechen
können. Ausgebaut werden können die Hausanschlusssäulen
entweder mit KH00 oder KH1/2 HAK oder mit plombierbaren
Sicherungs- oder Lastschaltleisten, um auch höhere Energieanforderungen abdecken zu können.
Media cabinets
Not only electrical power, also gas, water and communication
cables require a fitting enclosure. nkt cables develops and
manufactures solutions for all types of media, also in combination. In the FourOne technology even all media (electricity,
water, gas and telecom) are combined in one cabinet. The
feeding of all the individual media is optimized and the end
customer saves valuable space. Not only space, also building
costs could be minimized because with this technology the
“technique” is going to be installed outside of the flat or office
building. The DNO/utility has got free access to read out the
meters without entering the building and without the limitation
to be depending on the end customer being at home to read
out the meter. Media cabinets also offer the possibility of very
flexible connections if buildings are going to be modified, renewed or renovated. May be the case e.g. in allotment sites or
buildings with high fluctuation. Due to that media cabinets with
their supplies being a fixed point, it allows to adapt the surrounding to changing requirements without moving or even cut
the main supplies. The disconnecting or shutoff is going to be
carried out in the media cabinet.

CT-metering pillars
Due to technical limitations larger consumers can not be
metered via direct counters, above 63 A or 100 A metering via
current transformers is required. There are two principal ways
for these cabinets. Measurement and metering section within
one cabinet, this is the most popular way, or having two
cabinets side by side to cover switching, CT and metering
area. The wide range of available pillars covers 4-wire and
5-wire systems as well as applications for photovoltaic
applications. The CT-metering could either be carried out in
pillar or cabinet version of our enclosure range.
House service pillars
House service pillars are a perfect alternative to a standard
HSB (house service box) if limited space conditions within a
building e.g. missing cellar or small public services connection
room require an alternative solution.
A house service pillar offers a perfect shelter for a HSB or fuse
disconnector to be located outdoor. The outdoor installation of
the HSB allows an easy access for the DNO/utility as well as
for the fire brigade to disconnect a building before using water
hoses. House service pillars could be equipped with KH00 or
KH1 HSBs as well as with lead-sealable fuse disconnectors or
fuse strips for higher power requirements.

Medienschränke
Nicht nur Strom, auch Gas, Wasser und Informationsleitungen benötigen ein passendes Gehäuse. nkt cables gestaltet
und fertigt Lösungen für jede Art von Medien, auch in Kombination. In der FourOne-Technik werden sogar alle Medien
kombiniert. So wird der Zugang zu den einzelnen Anschlüssen optimiert und vereinfacht und das spart dem Kunden
wertvollen Platz. Nicht nur Platz, auch Baukosten können so
natürlich minimiert werden, da auf diesem Weg die Technik
außerhalb des Wohn- oder Bürobereichs installiert werden
kann. Der VNB hat den freien Zugang zu den Anschluss
räumen, ohne die Gebäude betreten zu müssen. Auch bieten
sich flexible Anschlussmöglichkeiten für sich ändernde Gebäudeteile, sei es in Kleingartenanlagen oder in Gebäuden
mit hoher Fluktuation. Dank der Medienschränke als feste
Punkte kann die Umgebung den wandelnden Gegebenheiten angepasst werden, ohne dass die Hauptzuleitungen verschoben oder gar gekappt werden müssen. Die Absperrung
bzw. Abschaltung findet im Medienschrank statt.

Baustromverteilerschränke
Selbst die kleinste Baustelle ist ohne eigene Stromversorgung
kaum vorstellbar. Die Baustellenarbeiter benötigen Energie für
Krane, Betonmischer und viele andere technische Geräte, die
ihnen das tägliche Arbeiten erleichtern. nkt cables bietet eine
große Auswahl an Kabelverteilerschränken für Baustellen
anwendungen. Dabei sind die Gehäuse als mobile Lösung
ausgeführt oder alternativ zum temporären Vergraben geeignet. Temporäres Vergraben bedeutet die Installation mit einem
Eingrabsockel wie bei einem Standardgehäuse. Jedoch wird
der Schrank nach Gebrauch wieder ausgegraben und steht
damit für die nächste Baustelle zur Verfügung. Dank des
modularen Aufbaus des GFK-Gehäuses ist nicht nur eine

Schutzisolierung gewährleistet, sondern auch der Austausch
einzelner im Baustellenalltag in Mitleidenschaft gezogener
Gehäusekomponenten möglich, z.B. der Seitenwand oder der
Tür. Dies erlaubt enorme Kosteneinsparungen im Vergleich zu
einem geschweißten Metallgehäuse, das nach Beschädigung
komplett ausgetauscht werden muss.

Weitere Anwendungen
Die hier aufgeführten Varianten stellen nur einen kleinen Auszug der möglichen Anwendungsgebiete der nkt cables
Schränke dar. Die soliden GFK-Gehäuse können darüber
hinaus in fast allen Bereichen von Stromverteilung, Industrie,
Telekommunikation oder zur Umhausung von Anlagenkomponenten im Außenbereich eingesetzt werden, um nur einige der
weiteren Anwendungsbereiche zu nennen. In den letzten
50 Jahren hat nkt cables Gehäuse und Säulen für die

Starting with cabinets for garden irrigation via cabinets for
pumps in sewage treatment plants to cabinets for rail heating
in railway tracks, there is a countless number of possible

Construction site cabinets
Even the smallest construction site is barely conceivable with
out a power supply. Construction workers require supplies for
their cranes, cement mixers and other equipment to facilitate
their job. nkt cables offers a wide range of main distribution
cabinets for construction sites. The cabinets/pillars are avail
able in mobile or temporarily-dig-in versions. Temporarily dig-in
means that the cabinet is handled as a standard pillar but
replaced after the construction site is finalized and then reused
at the next site. The modular design of the GRP enclosures
combines the two advantages of double insulation and the ability to replace single parts of the cabinet e.g. side wall or door if
they get damaged during the hard use at site. This offers a main
cost saving compared to a welded metal cabinet which has to
be replaced completely if it gets damaged.
