parties,% cargo% claims,% ship's% agency).% He% has% specialist%
knowledge% about% the% arrest% of% ships% and% aircraft,% complex%
transnational% litigation% (limitation% of% shipowners'% liability,%
insolvency%and%arbitration)%and%the%international% law% of% the%
sea.%Taco%is%co@editor%of%Schip(en(Schade,%the%Dutch%maritime%
and%transport%law%reports.%He%regularly%lectures%on%maritime%

Executive% Director% of% the% London% Universities% Maritime% Law%

Oxford% University% Press% Award% for% Best% Law% Teacher% of% the%
Year.%%He%is%a%peer%review%of%the%Arts%and%Humanities%Research%
Council%and%has%been%involved%in%various%consultations%with%the%

Julia%Constantino%Chagas%Lessa%practiced%as%a%Brazilian%lawyer%in%
Brazil%before%going%to%London%where%she%completed%her%mas@
ters%in%International%Commercial%Law%at%University%of%Westmin@
ster%in%2010,%with%a%dissertation%on%Intellectual%Property%Law.%In%
2011,% Julia% was% selected% for% an% internship% at% Seafarers% Rights%
International,% where% she% had% the% opportunity% to% expand% her%
research%on%maritime%labour%and%work%with%great%researchers%of%
this% particular% area.% Julia% is% currently% pursing% her% PhD% at% City%
University% London% with% a% focus% on% seafarers'% employment%
rights,% in% particular,% the% definition% of% 'abandonment% of% sea@
farer'.%%Her%research%involves%making%a%comparative%analysis%of%
different%legislations%(Labour%Law%and%Contract%Law),%as%well%as%
human% rights% and% Third% Parties% liabilities% (P&I% Clubs,% Trade%
Unions,% NGOs).% During% her% PhD,% Julia% was% invited% to% assist%
conducting%a%five%days%IMO%accredited%course%on%Oil%Spillage%to%
Shell%employees%in%Port%Harcourt%@%Nigeria.%The%course%included,%
among% other% things,% international% and% national% liability% of% oil%
spillages%from%offshore%platforms.%Julia%is%a%board%member%of%the%
German%American%Maritime%Institute%(GAMI)%in%Cuxhaven.%%
Esther% Mallach%qualified%as%a%German%lawyer%in%1987.% She%worked% as%a%
sole%practitioner%until%joining%Dabelstein%&%Passehl%in%1991.%After%a%brief%
stay%at%their%Hamburg%office,%she%transferred%to%the%Dabelstein%&%Passehl%
office%in%London%until%July%2003.%She%also%qualified%as%an%English%solicitor%
