What you should know!
Cycling Tours
The focus of our cycling tours is on fun, relaxation and culinary delights,
they are a combination of sightseeing and physical outdoor exercise. They
are designed for everyone who enjoys cycling. You won’t need to be a club
cyclist however to take part. Most of the tours are set along hard-surface
tracks or quiet side roads, the majority of which are well-maintained
cycling paths. There will be a few occasions when the itineraries will
necessitate travel on slightly busier roads over short distances.
On request we can organise local bike rental for your clients. We will attend to the delivery and transportation as required. The bikes will be
adjusted for size and will be appropriate for the chosen tour.
A more relaxed touring option involves the use of E-Bikes. An E-Bike
works like any other bicycle, with the only difference being that you have
a small lightweight electric motor attached to the frame which takes some
of the strain when the going gets tough. No licence is required to use
an e-bike and one battery charge will last up to 80kms. Our guides will
offer a full briefing on the safe use of the equipment prior to setting off.
Differences in Altitude
Essentially, the greater the height difference covered, the more demanding
a hike will be. To further assist you we detail the altitude difference to be
covered on each hike. We show the lowest and highest point on the hike. For
example, differences in altitude of less than 50m will be designated as „light“.
What happens if it rains?
In the event of inclement weather, your tour guide will change the programme of the day accordingly. When extended periods of rain are forecasted, a given tour may potentially be cancelled. We will, of course, organise
a substitute programme for you and try to consider new paths. There will
always be an exciting alternative programme arranged.
E-Bike hire is included in the package.
Equipment
In the Event of Breakdown
We recommend sturdy, ankle-high hiking boots providing good support to
the ankles, as well as practical, comfortable clothing. It is best to dress in
layers so that you can remove and put on clothes to suit the conditions.
Please remember to include rain and sun protection too! On our cycling
tours we recommend that participants wear specific cycling clothing such as
cycling shorts and gloves; this is, however, not a prerequisite. For insurance
purposes, a helmet must be worn during guided cycling tours. When renting a bike, cycle panniers, helmets or other equipment is not included and
available only on request. Please bear in mind that some of the tours will
include visits to churches and monasteries. These buildings can be cool and
appropriate clothing is required, i.e. shoulders must be covered and short
cycling shorts will not be appropriate. We recommend that both hikers and
cyclists enjoy a hearty breakfast before leaving each day and drink sufficient
water during the tours. A personal daypack is very practical.
While you are on tour, your cycling guide will assist you to address any
minor repairs that may be required. In the unlikely event of a more serious breakdown, your tour guide will find the nearest bike shop in order to
repair the bicycle. For further support or help, you can always contact our
local office.
Hiking Tours
There is no better way to get to know the true character of an area than to
explore it on foot before enjoying delicious freshly prepared dishes in local
restaurants. Our hiking paths are usually well maintained and are often also
used by the locals too. They are set back away from roads and are undisturbed by traffic, allowing guests close contact with the landscape, flora and
6
fauna. The hikes are scheduled to last between 3 and 6 hours and detailed
information is available for every single tour. To assist you with the appropriate tour selection, we have graded every hike from light to demanding.

Descriptions and Symbols
Next to the description of the daily programme you will find some symbols
which will help you determine if a cycling or hiking tour is planned for the
day. On some days, the coach will not be required. This is also indicated
by a symbol.

Here we explain the criteria which we apply for each of the three tour
categories. These are merely guidelines as the individual rating is
influenced by factors such as weather or the time of the day.
Cycling Tours
Hiking and Cycling Tour Guides
You will find our hiking and cycling tour guides are competent, responsible
and helpful. They love to travel and are delighted to show you the highlights of their homeland. Whilst our hiking and cycling tour guides have an
extensive knowledge about each route, their in-depth information about
the region, its flora and fauna may not be as detailed as you may find in a
travel guide book or specialised literature. Our guides can speak a variety
of languages however and are very familiar with the region.
Coach Travel
All tours suggested in this catalogue are intended for small groups (from
between 14 -25 persons); Our prices do not include the arrival and departure transfers. We are happy to provide you with an individual quote
for this depending on the numbers of passengers requiring them. On
average, the distances to be covered by coach to the starting point will
be 1 hour maximum. Should you wish to book one of our flight inclusive
arrangements we will provide you with a local coach for the entire tour.
For cycling tours by air, we can also provide airport transfers and transport
the bicycles to the starting point of the tour and collect them at the end
of the tour if you require this. Therefore you won’t need a trailer (i.e. you
will not need a trailer, and no coach parking or detailed arrangements
required etc.) The insurance for the rental bike is not included and available on request; the participant is responsible for damage and theft. In
case of e-bike travel we will provide and transport the electric bikes for
the various tours (costs for this service are included in the package price).
Hotel and Catering
With all our tours, your guests will stay in selected 3*/4* hotels. Naturally, this includes an extensive breakfast and a good, hearty dinner. We
can also provide a packed lunch or picnic if required. We seek to combine
local specialties with stunning scenery and give you the opportunity to
get to know the deep rooted farming culture of the area.

What you should
7
What does this mean for you?
· You can now offer innovative tour options, possibly to new tar get markets previously untapped and also increase the chance
of filling your valuable coach seats at the same time.
The smart Combination.
Michelangelo DUO allows tour operators to combine two different types of tour on the one coach.
You can then offer multiple tour options to minimize the risk of
cancellation due to lack of numbers, one of the biggest source
of frustration for customers and tour operators alike.
What is DUO?
·
·
By combining tour groups of differing interests on the one vehicle you reduce the risk of costly and irritating cancellations.
Your guests for their part can benefit from enjoying their chosen holiday in smaller groups. DUO gives both parties the best
of both worlds.
· This formula has worked really well for a lot of our partners.
Those who have tried it, love it and came back for more.
DUO - be part of the revolution
With DUO you can combine two different types of tours on the
one tour. The tour may now be offered to a larger target of customers with a smaller minimum numbers of participants required. Thus traditional tour participants can join their more
active fellow travelers on the one coach. We work with you to
create flexible itineraries to satisfy the needs of both groups.
· Two different programs can be conducted using only one coach,

DUO ACTIVO
Each group will undertake a tour on their own each day.
Often, the ACTIVO group will not need the coach as the starting
point of their hiking or cycling tour is within walking distance
from the hotel or can be reached by public transportation. If both
groups require use of the coach, we design the programmes in a
way that allows both itineraries to be combined seamlessly.
The CLASSICO group will be accompanied by a tour guide, the ACTIVO group will be accompanied by a separate cycle or hiking tour
guide - the guides then work together to organise and coordinate
the tours.
Both groups can meet up at significant landmarks of common interest and will spend time together at meals. This is a great opportunity for them to exchange experiences and potentially - by
word-of-mouth - you may well win new customers for the next
DUO tour. After all, a CLASSICO traveller might enjoy the occasional walk or cycle trip - and vice versa!
Does this new proposition interest you?
Please contact us with your specific
request and we will design a customised
tour programme for you.
The minimum number of participants is just 14 persons per programme. 1 free single room for the coach driver/tour guide is always available.

The crowing glory of the Three Peaks of Lavaredo
The mighty Three Peaks, which we already admired
yesterday, offer a fitting end to our tour. The starting point is the Auronzo hut situated at 2,320 m at the
southern foot of the three mountain peaks. From this
point, we will hike to the Lavaredo hut (2,344 m) and
enjoy the impressive profile of the Three Peaks. On the
north side we will continue on until we reach the western flank with its huts and mountain lakes, offering
wonderful new vantage points for our pictures. From
here we continue on the same track leading back to our

Pale di San Martino
The majestic mountain range of Pale di San Martino rises up to more than
3000m. The stunning peaks are a true wonder of nature, and were created
as enormous coral reefs over 300 million years ago. As the waters subsided,
the peaks were weathered by the elements to create dramatic peaks. Famed
for their pink hues at sunset, the peaks are amongst the most famous in the
Dolomites and have been captivating tourists since the 19th century.

Canelli and Truffle Hunt
Today, we will start our hike in Sessame in the
scenic Langhe region. Our hike will take us past old
castles and through vineyards to Canelli. This is the place where 150 years ago the first Asti Spumante was produced. Until today, there are numerous traditional wineries still in existence, also called underground cathedrals. To top our trip off, we will go truffle searching.
We will learn a lot about the “Black and White Gold“
and traditional truffle preparation. After our visit and
a walk we will enjoy a tasting of the valuable tuber.

to live here. Strolling around it is hard to imagine that
this seemingly isolated place was regularly ambushed

Two strong partners,
one perfect team
Exciting E-Bike Holidays
movelo is Europe‘s largest provider of holidays using electric bikes
and we are their exclusive partner in Italy.
movelo is a tourist service provider based in Bad Reichenhall Germany and specialises in fun cycling with e-bikes. Since 2014 we are their
Italian partner and act as the company‘s mobile bike rental in Italy.
We have been working together to make popular holiday destinations
even more attractive and to add a new dimension to the mega-trend
of cycling. So if you have clients interested to get to know the great
outdoors on two wheels but are concerned about the exertion, this
is the answer.
We only use the most up to date e-bike models, specifically designed
to be used by tourists and for the types of tours offered by us. Our
licensed guides are experts and will ensure that a full briefing on the
operation and safe use of the bikes is given before each tour.
E-biking stands for “soft mobility”. Your guests will cycle effortlessly
through the most scenic countryside, breathing in fresh air and enjoying nature. The silent electric motor kicks in seamlessly when it
senses increased resistance, meaning hills and uphill gradients can
be negotiated with ease.

or safe unsealed roads (without steep declines) through vineyards,
olive groves, unspoilt countryside, historic cities and sometimes
even along the Mediterranean Sea. While touring they will stop at
small restaurants or farmhouses for typical local food and enjoy

Those who don’t feel like cycling anymore, can board the coach
and be taken on daily tours. We will return the e-bikes using our
van. Our professional cycle guides are very familiar with the local
culture an nature.
The electric motor is made of a lithium-ion battery, hardly audible and supports natural bike-pedalling movements. A sensor
measures the power of every stroke of the pedal, controlling the
required support of the motor. The sensor immediately recognises uphill gradients and provides additional thrust. Our drivers,
who also are bike mechanic and familiar with the e-bikes, will
help in case of a failure. The modern batteries have a range of
more than 80 km during the day and will be re-charged by night.
There will always be spare bikes and batteries available.

Looking up we can‘t help but wonder how it was possible to build this castle.
Sitting on a steep rock, Castel Pietra impresses with its massive walls, which
have survived for centuries and have many stories and legends to tell. Once
an important guard castle, it protected the region and often was in the centre of hostile conflicts. Today it presents itself rather hospitable; visitors
may explore its rooms and food is served.

Chianti is not only a first-class wine growing region but also offers
breathtaking hill views, fascinating villages and medieval castles.
For the cyclists amongst us the “Eroica route” will certainly be the
highlight of this trip. Solitary roads will take us through the typical vegetation of Tuscany, far away from the hustle and bustle and
noisy traffic of the city. It is delightful pleasure, just like a good
bottle of wine!

Certaldo and San Gimignano
Our circuit today starts at the hotel and takes us through the typical hilly countryside of Volterra with its
cypresses, vineyards, country houses, castles and medieval villages. Our first stop is Certaldo, forever associated with the Italian writer Boccaccio , who used it
as a setting for his masterpiece Decamerone. The upper town where the centre is located can be reached via
cable car from the lower town. Our tour will continue
on to San Gimignano. We will take a walk through its
historic centre, and will follow it with a relaxing break
in one of Italy‘s best ice-cream parlours, the Gelateria
Dondoli. Return trip to hotel via Poggibonsi.

Unknown Chianti and Verrazzano Castle
We will start at the hotel and discover the best kept
secrets of the Chianti region. Our trip will take us through vineyards, past cypresses and hidden „Borghi“
until we reach Verrazzano Castle, where we will enjoy a
wine tasting. Verrazzano Castle is situated in a hilly region between Florence and Siena, and its wine tradition
dates back to 1150. The villages of Mercatale and Grece
are particularly worthwhile seeing. Mercatale offers a
wonderful panoramic view of Val di Pesa and Val die
Greve, whilst Greve itself is probably the best-known
place in whole of the Chianti region.

On the „Eroica“ (roads of heroes) through the
famous Chianti region
Thanks to our e-bikes, we travel with ease into the
heart of the Chianti region through hilly countryside
past vineyards and castles. We will reach Gaiole by bus,
where our tour starts. From Gaiole we will follow the
famous „Eroica“ Road for a while until we reach Radda with its beautiful main square and typical medieval
architecture. The route along the „Eroica“ is certainly the main draw for the cycling enthusiasts. Far away
from noisy traffic, it winds its way through the hilly regions of Tuscany. We will continue to San Donato and
from there back to the hotel.

The Alabaster Town of Volterra
Its location alone gives rise to stories and legends: Situated in rugged countryside and
perched on a hill, it has rocked the imagination of many writers. It is, for example, the home
of the vampire family in Stephenie Meyer‘s Twilight series of novels, which has been a box-office hit for many years. The old Etruscan town is also famous for the mining and processing
of alabaster, a soft, almost opaque mineral. This enigmatic and mysterious town is considered to be one of the most beautiful places in Tuscany, and with its cafés, restaurants and alabaster shops conveys the typical lifestyle of this region.

The old Railway Road of Sanremo
In the year 1900 a train huffed and puffed its way from San Lorenzo al Mare to San Remo.
Looking out of the windows, the passengers saw the sea and enjoyed the rhythmic rumbling of the wheels. Today the tracks are no longer there and have been replaced with
a broad asphalt road, which is easy to use even for beginners. The fantastic views of the
sea are still there, and occasionally it sends a lovely breeze across the water. There are
resting places and at about every 350 m it is possible to leave the road and visit one of
the picturesque villages or enjoy a break on the beach.

Carrara – magnificent Marble
In the city of marble the precious mineral is everywhere in evidence: even
curbstones, benches and plant tubs are made from marble. In the distance marble
is also omnipresent: the town’s silhouette is set against the white hills with their
famous quarries. The most important building of Carrara is most certainly its
cathedral. The famous rosette above the portal is a true piece of art made from
one solitary block. The marble open air museum constructed by Walter Danesi,
will also give us a good overview of marble mining from Ancient Rome until today.

Natural Beauty and mystical heritage
Once you have been on Sardinia you will never forget the beautifully glistening sea
which reflects a myriad of blue and green shades which surrounds the second-largest island of the Mediterranean. Further inland however you will also be confronted by a continuously changing landscape which will long remain in the memory. You will marvel at the bizarre rock formations, and will see weathered cork
oaks as evidence of strong storms. Finally the Nuraghe or Bronze Age megalithic
edifices which are symbols of Sardinia beckon with their mystical history.

Useful Travel Information
Relaxing and enjoyable travelling is what Activo stands for. All activities undertaken with Activo such as cycling and hiking
do not require a specific level of physical fitness. The requirements of the tours are designed so that even untrained but
healthy persons can participate. Before participating, the customers should be informed about the following:
It is strongly advised that participants subject themselves to a medical check-up by their local doctor. It is at the tour
member‘s own risk to decide whether his/her state of health sufficiently meets the demands of the trip. Any information
concerning physical requirements is given to the best of our knowledge and belief. If the tour member cannot meet the
requirements of an otherwise normal trip it is at his own risk and responsibility.
In general, participation in these travels is at one‘s own risk. Persons under age must be accompanied by an adult
when participating in one of the trips.
With all activities, the participant must take good care and wear suitable clothing and equipment, in particular
suitable shoes.
Compliance with legal requirements, in particular with road traffic regulations is at the sole responsibility of the
tour member. Due to insurance policies, bike helmets must be worn during guided tours. Please inform your customers
that cycle bags, helmets or other equipment is not included when hiring bikes (may be available on request).
If during the course of the travel the daily programme or daily routes require to be changed (e.g. due to weather,
safety etc.) this does not result in a reduction of the travel costs.
The theft of a hired bike is at the customer‘s own risk if the bike was not properly locked.
It is strongly advised to take out travel insurances, especially private liability insurance, accident insurance and travel
medical insurance. It has to be particularly brought to the customer‘s attention that even as a cyclist he has an increased
liability risk in case of accidents.
The tour operators are obliged to advise their customers about this travel information in a suitable way before booking.

Booking Conditions
M.I.T. is an incoming agency based in Italy for travel services in Italy and offers travel agents (here referred to as tour operators) these services to design their own
programme for group travels organized by them. For all services the following booking conditions apply.
I. Conclusion of the Contract and
contractual Services
Insofar as the offers submitted by M.I.T. to the tour
operator are accepted M.I.T. will issue a booking confirmation about the offered and requested services. The
offers are subject to availability at the time of booking
by the operator. Only when the booking is confirmed
in writing by M.I.T. the contract is concluded between
M.I.T. and the operator of the group travel about the
booked services. Contractual relations between the tour
operator‘s individual customers and M.I.T. need not be
justified. The scope of the contractual services is given
by the services description in the catalogue, and the
statements in the booking that refer to it. Subsidiary
agreements (modifications, additions, special requests
etc.) must be explicitly confirmed by M.I.T. in writing.
If an express written confirmation does not follow the
booking confirmation, the wishes expressed in the
booking correspondence are to be handled only as
nonbinding wishes, for whose granting no guarantee
can be given.
II. Payment of Prices/Right of Retention
Unless arranged otherwise, an amount of 10% of the
contractually determined total price is due to be paid
to the M.I.T. account listed on the booking confirmation
30 days before the booked travel services. The remaining trip expenses at an amount of 90 % are due for payment in the named M.I.T. account at the latest 14 days
before the start of the trip. In cases where the payment
is not made punctually before the start of the trip, the
performance of the booked services is not guaranteed.
In this respect, a special lien, which can be exercised
at any time, appertains to M.I.T until the trip price has
been fully paid.
III. Cancellation
A cancellation of the booked travel services is possible
at any time - as long as the total number of participants
does not drop below the minimum required, even for
part of the trip. The cancellation is without penalty up
to 30 days before the start of the journey. A booking
fee will not be charged. In the case of a cancellation
up to 29 days before the start of the trip, the following
penalties are to be paid:
29th -15th day before the start of the trip:
10 % of the trip price
14 or less days before the start of the trip:
50 % of the trip price
A partial cancellation of certain services or in regards to
individuals is possible. In these cases, the remuneration is then to be paid out of the cancelled part of the trip
price. However, if a partial cancellation results in the
number of participants dropping below the minimum
required, the entire trip must be cancelled. In the case
of no-shows, the entire trip price must be paid under
all circumstances.
VIII. Guarantee - Remedy
IV. Non-claimed services
IX. Liability
To the extent that a trip is undertaken, but the booked
services are not fully utilised, M.I.T. retains its full entitlement. However, M.I.T. will try to obtain the saved
expenses for the non-claimed services from the service
providers. These savings will be forwarded to the tour
operator to the extent that M.I.T. is reimbursed by the
service providers.
M.I.T. cannot be held responsible for changes that are
not under the control of M.I.T. M.I.T. promises under
all circumstances to find the best possible alternative
solution.
V. Minimum number of participants
The minimum number of participants for all offered
trips amounts to 18 people, insofar as a different minimum number of participants is not explicitly mentioned in the offer and in the booking confirmation. If
the minimum number of participants is not attained,
remunerations must be paid amounting to the cost of
the minimum number of participants, insofar as a cancellation of the trip is not successful.
VI. Free spaces
The costs for the group trips include a free space for
the coach driver or tour guide (as of 18 paying guests)
in a single room, the second free space is granted for
a double room as of 40 paying guests. This rule is only
valid for brochured trips. Otherwise the agreement that
was stipulated in the offer applies.
VII. Tour Guide
The tour operator is accountable itself for the support
of the trip by a tour guide, to the extent that a tour
guide provided by M.I.T. for the whole or part of the trip
was not expressly mentioned in the service description.
Insofar as a “tour guide for the entire trip” is advertised, a professional tour guide is included, who can
confer art-historical information as well as information
about the customs and traditions in the region.
If, from the viewpoint of the tour operator, the travel
services are deficient, this is to be reported immediately to M.I.T., so that the deficiencies can be examined
and, if necessary, remedial action can be taken. To the
extent that the booked services also include a tour guide, the deficiencies can also be advised to and brought
to the attention of the tour guide.
The tour operator carries the guarantee liability in regards to the trip participants. M.I.T. is solely liable to
the extent that a fault of M.I.T. or its service providers
is present. To the extent that damages were neither
willfully nor recklessly caused by M.I.T., respectively,
are answerable by M.I.T. solely because of the fault of a
service provider, the liability for damages, that are not
bodily injuries, is limited to three times the omitted
trip price of the affected trip participants. Tort liability
claims remain unaffected.
X. Compliance with legal provisions
The tour operator is responsible for information and
compliance with the respective legal provisions, especially the passport, customs, foreign currency, inoculation and visa provisions for the participants booked
by the tour operator.
XI. Competent court of jurisdiction
The competent court of jurisdiction for M.I.T. is Trento.
XII. Invalidity of a travel condition
Should one of the above-mentioned travel conditions
be ineffective or invalid, this does not result in the invalidity of the entire travel contract.
XIII. Kilometre data
All information pertaining to distances are calculated
on an approximate basis. Michelangelo cannot be made
accountable for incorrect calculations.
XIV. Contracting partner
The contracting partner for the travel services booked
with M.I.T. is:
