International Research Centre on El Niño Sasakawa Mention of Merit 2009 CIIFEN works for and with the National Institutions in WCSA related to climate, ocean and disaster risk reduction activities. We are convinced that the most effective way to cope El Niño, climate variability and change impacts is through the strengthening of regional, national and local capacities. CIIFEN progress is reflected in the success of our strategic partners in each country of WCSA. International Research Centre on El Niño Sasakawa Mention of Merit 2009 CIIFEN has innovated in approaches to engage diverse users communities and tailor friendly climate information products in WCSA. CIIFEN initiatives are aimed to support climate risk management and also improve preparedness and response. CIIFEN works on self sustained, simple and participative projects which really address end users needs and increase local capacities.
